Adonis Stevenson Fighting Fonfara Next
Printable View
Adonis will probably be favored in the rematch.
Regardless....
Adonis has run like a bitch from Kovalev.
Fonfara made JCC Jr. quit like a bitch on his stool.
I'm rooting for Fonfara. ;D
I am losing a lot of interest toward Stevenson, even though he's from Montreal unless he fights Kovalev OR perhaps Ward. I used to think that he could rip though Kovalev with a lot of difficulties but I am really not certain of that anymore. I dn't fancy his chances against Ward but at least, that would be some nice and agressive bouts.
Not too interested in the fight. I'll watch it but Stevenson is getting less and less relevant and fonfara isn't that great. He is coming off a win to Dawson who isn't much of a fighter anymore and previously got KO'd in the first round.
Stevenson gives Canelo a run for his money when it comes to damp shorts and puddles left. Nothing like the comfort of going backwards when you're so hesitant about moving forward.
Stevenson is about 50 ain't he? If he thought he was capable he would be begging for Kov & Ward for the final few pay days. He knows he's not in their class and he's picking up what he can. Fonfara might even be too much.
Adonis is a fraud and faker/coward. He was lucky to catch Dawson after Ward ruined him, and Cloud after Hop ruined him. The comparison to Canelo was spot on, both clowns get in the ring with their divisions' number one fighter, talk tough, and then run like cowards in a different direction.
My hope is that both Canelo and Stevenson suffer upset losses and learn that it is easier to remain relevant losing to a GGG or Kov than lesser fighters like JCC Jr., and/or Fonfara. Adonis is so old, and has had such a long lay off that I give Fonfara a decent chance to pull off the upset in the rematch.
He should be fighting Joe Smith if anything not the guy that Smith demolished. And what about Alvarez? How long are the WBC going to keep him hanging? I'm surprised Stevenson hasn't been cashed out against Beterbiev yet.
Yvon Michel promotes both Stevenson and Beterbiev I think. With all the trouble Artur was having to get an eliminator for the IBF it might have been easier to just match the two. Plus I would have thought Beterbiev has more upside than Stevenson.
Eleider Alvarez is the mandatory to Stevenson's WBC belt. He took step aside money so that Stevenson could face Monaghan. That fight fell through so I guess the Fonfara rematch is now the step aside fight. Alvarez has been mandatory since November 2015 after beating Chilemba. Funnily enough Alvarez' fight with Bute was a second eliminator although Alvarez was already the mandatory.
Stevenson has a few solid options now but I'm sure he is telling his management that he doesn't want to take any chances. He wants to stretch out his career as long as possible and keep making money by not putting in too much effort.
Fonfara has a good record since he lost to Stevenson, apart from the Joe Smith fight, so hes probably as deserved of a title fight as anyone
and whats happened to Joe Smith, after a win over bhop surely the best thing to do would be to get him straight back out
El bump! Card just around the corner and it fell off the radar. Not a bad one at least for sleeper weekend ;D. Would be awesome to have Fonfara finally light this fraud up and dump Stevenson on his arse. Alvarez and Pascal hopefully shows best and what's left of both. Worlds apart though.
Pascal still with Roy in his corner getting pointers? Could be a very ominous sign this fight :-X. So this is an official title eliminator and Pascal is not ranked in top 10? Brilliant wbc.
Both land but one power shot each in 1st and both looked buzzed a bit. Nice counter by Pascal but he doesn't give the impression he can weather a sustained attack. Very iffy and legs odd
All Alvarez 2nd off stiff jab, just physically so much stronger. Pascal praying for one shot counter bomb and little more.
Paulie shuts down Renallo ;D "No it's not a good right hand it's a stay away from me punch". Alvarez just building for eventual barrage..wobbled Pascal there end of 3rd!
That jab of Alvarez has come along. Has some kick on it setting everything up.
At end of the 4th Pascal had the far off look of a man who knows he has nothing. Alvarez let off the gas in 5th though. That jab man, brutal.
Wash-rinse-repeat 6th. Alvarez playing with his food a bit and needs to escalate the combinations and shut it down. Pascal finding some minimal opportunities now.
Finally found a round to give Pascal. Still eating a jab but surging late and it's Alvarez now shaking his head 'no'. Alvarez better get his head outta his arse.
Very tight 8th. Good body shots Pascal and Alvarez addicted to the jab and occasional follow up punches. Going Pascal round.
Nice, Alvarez finding second third gear pouring it on 9th. Harsh uppercut. Pascal standing ground winging mad. Head butt looked intentional by Alvarez after Pascal butted him in clinch! Alvarez round
Exciting round
One guy trying to win rounds the other(Pascal) just trying to steal them
Nice exchange end of 10th, left hook snuck Alvarez. Have Alvarez well in control 98-92 but he is a guy who coasts. Time to make a statement and not take it for granted. Someone remind him he's in Pascals home ;D.
118-110 at end. That jab might as well be attached to his forehead with rubber cement. Credit to Pascal honestly didn't think he'd make the bell.
Disappointing Pascal didn't even really try to win the fight. Just tried to make it look like he was trying to win the fight.
No head movement what so ever.
114-114...117-111...116-112 Alvarez :vd: One judge there should enter AA asap. And Pascal thought he won
Majority decision, terrible, at least they got it right. Should have been wide.
For talk of Pascal being popular that place is largely empty
Must admit that my dislike for Stevenson is making me root more for Fonfara than I normally would. Which is not much ;D. That said it's awesome to still see Kronk gold in a ring!
And Fonfara down. Ah gheesh. Short left hand all over him in 1st
Badly hurt too
Fonfara looked like a bobble head trapped in corner there. He's just not taking these well at all. Don't go to the fridge :-X
That was a lot of damage to absorb
What the hell was that??? Hunter steps up and pulls the plug. Well that was quick. Lets have Alvarez v Stevenson right away
Fonfara couldn't get out of the way of the left at all
