Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
FIRST LOSSES
Mosley - "I guess Vernon did a number on me" - honest, and amusing
Trinidad - "I want to continue to have big fights on HBO" - poor kid got beat so bad he didnt know what to say
Judah - "I was wobbly, you kna mean? But look, I'm back on my feet" - his post fight interview with Tim Smith was hilarious
Hamed - "In boxing sometimes, thats the way the cookie crumbles" - I actually felt sorry for this guy. He truly believed his god told him he'd never lose.
Cintron - I dont know what he said. He was too busy crying like a newborn.
Delahoya - "I wanted to give this guy a boxing lesson"
ANY LOSS
Tyson - "Look at me. My kids are gonna be scared of me"
Holmes - "The referee, the judges can kiss me where the sun don't shine. Since we on HBO, thats my big, black behind" - Probably the best one ever
Morales - "All this guy did was jab and move, throw three punches and run" - You're right, Erik. What the heck was he thinking?
-
Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
Zab after the Tszyu fight ;)

-
Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
Chavez after losing to Frankie Randall:--"I'm gonna sue Richard Steele!" ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
Tyson, surprisingly, showed class after the Lewis defeat ;)
Bruno after the first Tyson defeat;
"That's cricket" :o
Bobby Frankham was the originator of 'how to lose with no class', right up there with Judah and Butler... but unlike them two, the powers that be (The BBB of C) had the balls to give him a life time ban.

Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
I love Hopkins, but the funniest reactions are both of his losses to Taylor. Watch right when the decision is made. They show the split screen with both Hopkins and Taylor with they're hands raised, expecting to be announced the winner, and then when Buffer announces Taylor wins, that huge grin on Hopkins face immediately turns into this dumbfounded look. Classic.

Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
Hopkins is one of my favorites, but I have to agree the expression on his face after Hopkins vs. Taylor 1 is about the saddest I've ever seen.

Yes, Morales was one of the funniest ones I've ever seen. He starts crying after the fight about how Raheem is a difficult and frustrated him because all he does is hits him and then moves! :lolhaha:

Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
Ken Norton after being knocked out in 1 round by Earnie Shavers: "He surprised me with his power". As teenagers would say, "Duh!!"
Joe Frazier after losing his title to George Foreman: "George is a helluva puncher" . I think we know that now, Joe!

Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
Id say hands down....kostya after hatton beat him. The guy could barely walk yet he got up and told the crowd that ricky was the better man on the night and he was going to give ricky his phone number....what the fuck beats that.

Without a doubt, that was the best possible advert for boxing after an awesome fight on a big stage. No matter what Tsuyu does now, he will always be respected for being a glorious champ and magnanimous in defeat.
-
Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
Yes Tszyu after losing to Hatton was pure class, especially since Hatton did a bit of fouling, and probably almost any other fighter would have made that excuse, I myself couldn't see embracing and congratulating a guy who just mauled me, hit me with multiple elbows, and a sledgehammer to the groin, let alone lose in the fashion KT did, no doubt being in severe pain as well.

Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
The first Hopkins Vs. Taylor fight, when Hopkins was raising his hand, smiling in victory, then the announcer said "and the NEW........," he's facial expression was priceless.
-
Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
Camacho Jr. was a little biotch
-
Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
Cant forget Morales flat out leaving the ring and speed walking to his dressing room. . . . . . .of course, its hard to blame him cuz he got jerked by the judges that night.
-
Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
Can't remember the fighters names, but the loser could have won, but didn't. He was heavily favored, and the other guy basically ran the whole time, but did enough to get the win. After the fight, when the media was about to interview, the loser, sucker-punched the winner, KOing him.
Classless piece of shat! If anyone saw that fight, or knows the names, please let me know. The fight happened within the past five years, and I think it was at welter or Jr. middle.{Aired on Friday night Fights}

Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
I believe that was that Butler dude, the creep that killed Max Kellerman's brother.
-
Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
James Toney after Roy Jones beat him.

Against who?

Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
My personal favorite quote after his first loss was
Muhammad Ali's response after The Fight of the Century.
Reporter: Frazier said that you didn't want a rematch.
GOAT: Oh how wrong he is.
-
Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
i remember when the fighter who lost the decision lamped the winner. i saw it on KOTV, he was in his corner with just his wraps on and when the other fighter came over to congratulate him, he punched him with a hell of a right cross. sparko. 2 black guys i think. its the taking part that counts, obviously.

Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
The best was the post fight interview for Klitschko-Mercer. Ray was thanking everyone and so on and Larry Merchant tried to interrupt him and Ray was like "He beat an old man, if he's happy about it that's great"

Yeh after such a gruelling fight they both showed fantastic sportsmanship.....especialy for kostya to admit the better man won. Cool click Snakey.....I'm a huge hatton fan but Kostya made a great impression on me with that.

Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
After Tyson-Holyfield 2, when everyone jumped in the ring, and Tyson punched the first 2 guys who entered. What an animal.
Or, after Golotta-Tyson, when someone threw a soda{what looked to be a 44oz cup that was full}, and it smashed against Golotta's face. That may have hurt more than the uppercut Tyson dropped him with.
Two tickets to fight-200$.....One 44oz soda-$1.49.....one fighter quitting, then wearing the soda-priceless.
-
Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
This thread is an oldie, but a goodie.
How about after Golota lost to Tyson and in the interview suddenly Golota had a stutter and had forgotten half of his English. "I'm h-h-h-having very h-h-h-heavy thoughts..."
When Tyson lost to Lewis was fairly disturbing. Here you have a machine of destruction wiping a drop of blood off Lewis' face in an almost motherly fashion and then in the dressing room cradling his newborn baby. In years prior you would have assumed Mike was about to eat said baby (well he said as much).
I don't remember what he said, but I've never seen a fighter happier after losing a fight than Bruce Seldon. Mike hit him on the top of his head and he went down and was happy as a clam after it was over and done with. Came over and gave Mike a hug with a big ol' grin on his face. Don King's fro must have been on fire as he was thinking, "Chill out, man. At least walk with a limp!"
The best was Ruiz after the fight with Tua. He said, and I remember this, "Z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z."

Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
RJJ vs Park Si-Hun 1988 olympics. The whole world, boxing fan or not knew and saw and said "what the hell".
-
Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
Ricky Hatton "I was doing okay until I fukkin slipped, what a fuckin fluke" LOL.
-
Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
I loved Miranda's on his last fight. "He was too strong for me. I felt week against him. He was just too much for me" It's one of the few times I here a fighter come clean like that.
How about Diaz, "I thought Roach was in there with him kicking my ass. He was just too f***ing fast"

Interesting to hear Chavez say that after having Richard Steele stop the fight against Taylor when Chavez was loosing on points (I do agree with the stoppage though).
Oh, don't remember the exact words but hearing Pac blame it on his socks when he lost against Morales was quite interesting too. First time I hear something like that.

Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
the best quote ever was after tyson lost to lewis
he said some shit like
'he fought magnificently, i take my hand off to him'
-
Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
I always forget the fighters name, and this isn't funny, but that guy who after he heard the decision punched the opponent and layed him out. Got banned from boxing I believe. Someone I know will know which fight I'm talking about. That's a hell of a reaction to a loss.
Is he the same guy who murdered Kellerman's brother?

Re: Best fighter reactions after their first loss or ANY loss
Also David Diaz this past weekend had me rolling... :lolhaha:
"Shhhhhiiiiiiiittt! I can say I was in there with Pacquiao and gave it my all. But hey I underestimated his speed, fuckers fast"
