I am convinced that G Man was damaged in his first fight with Julian Jackson who was battering him for 3 rounds and we all know how hard he hits. Gerald was complaining of headaches in the interview after the fight.
G Man loved his power which meant he did not refine his boxing skills as much as he should have and he could have won a decision against Benn if he used his jab.
As such G Man would not have received the heights of Roy Jones and become a light heavyweight champion.
People harsh on G Man because he openly admitted to engaging in dog fighting.
I need to watch that Julian Jackson fight again.

McClellan was a fighter...he wasn't a boxer he was a fighter. He fell in love with his power, he didn't believe in hit and don't get hit, he would just wade into somebody and figured they couldn't take what he could dish out. He was similar to Arturo Gatti in that sense, but when Gatti got to a certain point in his career he decided to learn to BOX.....G-Man just got brain damage before that epiphany struck him.
Would he have posed a problem to RJJ? Eh....doubtful, I think power vs power they were on par with each other but RJJ could BOX he could stick and move whereas G-Man just stuck. RJJ would have boxed Gerald's ears off.
As for the Benn fight, how Benn was allowed to continue through the first was horrible, and how Gerald was allowed to continue later on was horrible

Dog fighting is wrong but it's a grain of sand compared to everything else.

I don't know what the fuck to think of fox hunting...it's class symbolism is my best guess as to why it is so loathed. Also why hunt something you're not going to make use of? You won't be using a hide after the dogs have done your dirty work for you.
Eating dogs & cats is wrong too, but in China and other Asian nations they breed those animals just for that. I think that's just as wrong especially when you hear about how they are cooked.
For the folks who have the nerve to bitch about real hunting after all of that....that takes some nerve. A deer leads a happy life and then boom he's taken out with 1 shot vs being hit by a car and severely injured, vs being eaten ALIVE by a brown bear, vs dying of chronic wasting disease.....a gun shot or properly placed arrow is a blessing because Mother Nature is fucking cruel and harsh and there's no getting around it.

I think even the top neuro surgeons would be hard pushed to identify one specific cause of such catastrophic injuries. Even in people not engaging in sports that cause head trauma damage is not always an event based single trauma. When they opened up my Mrs head they found several older aneurysms that had occurred before the one that took her down. She had run and Hit punch bags etc but never sparred or even fell off a push bike etc. McCellan had sparred God knows how many rounds, fought many fights with people trained to try and inflict brain damage, which is what kos are when you strip away the pretty language. So the big surprise is really that it does not happen to many others.

Millions and millions of people today only buy free range eggs, chickens, only eat cows, pigs, sheep etc dependent on the animals welfare.
It's not just tree hugger hippies that care about this stuff, people from all walks of life have great compassion and respect for the animal they're eating.
There's no hypocrisy whatsoever between meat eaters and human beings intentionally abusing animals for fun.
As much as I love a good pork chop there's no justification in killing animals.

Imdint agree with it myself, but we have murderers, rapists, paedophiles, burglars, drug dealers, contract killers and all sorts in boxing, many of whom have been great fighters.
G-Man was my favorite fighter when he passed. Funny to me that the stigma/stench of dog fighting persists with him, yet Roy is rarely criticized for his involvement with cock fighting. Not condoning or condemning either, just saying it is crazy to me that bull fighting, cock fighting...etc., are barely recognized while dog fighting receives universal scorn.
I agree that he likely was injured going in to the Benn fight (Nigel was a brutal puncher) from Kronk wars (watch the video of him sparring Toney) and the Jackson fights. I do think the trainer was shit, not only for not stopping the fight, but also for Gerald's lack of preparation. The ref also shares blame, for basically holding GMan back so Benn could recover in the first, and then for allowing Benn to head butt and rabbit punch throughout.
Gerald was too one dimensional to be a p4p guy for long, but he definitely could've upset Roy or anyone else who ever laced up a pair of gloves. Not saying he would be favored, just that he had the punch and style to beat anyone.
