Victor Ortiz returns..
What round will he quit and will it be a body or head shot?
He needs to get that Rios money and retire..
-
Ortiz is a film star now so why is he even boxing?
Never forgiven him for quitting.
-
Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
I thought he already made a comeback. Is this a second comeback?
-
Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
Honestly though, I thought that Ortiz was going to become great. He has really good power and seemed like am he had solid skills. The thing is that he did really well against Maidana but ended up quitting.

Berto fight was his best performance and the most exciting fight but his fake fall against Floyd was a cheap way out of the fight.

I thought he was outboxing Berto in the 2nd fight..then he just fell apart.

Ditto. He's gotten where he quits at the first sign of trouble or real resistance. You wanna see a massacre then put him in with old Margarito or Rios. That would be pitiful to watch. Ortiz has all the tools to be a top contender/titlist, but not the strong mind or guts for it. If he wins this then I'd say a match with Brunson, Collazo, or Cintron would be best for him.
-
Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
Can you think of any other fighters that had there jaw broken and were still able to compete and regain their past glory?
When Victor Broke his jaw it changed him mentally as a fighter...it's a huge injury and the most targeted area...are we too harsh on him?

Collazo already knocked his a** out. I think he could make a few good paydays fighting on the outskirts of the division but as soon as he faces a contender it'll all come crumbling down again. There are some fights to be made though like the Rios one.

Ortiz quit against Maidana before his loss to Victor.

Yea Ortiz' jaw was broken in the Lopez fight. Ali did pretty good after the 1st Norton fight.

arthur abraham had his jaw broken v the very competent edison miranda and came back to regain his past glory in that same fight... although i guess you could argue miranda could have got the decision... but abraham beat him good in the rematch

Immediately went to Morrison war with Joe Hipp. Think Whitaker finished vs Tito with a break though he was at end. Mercer v Cooper? Sure looked like it.
This card is tonight on FS1. Odd start time of 6pm here.

Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
I think Victor.... and the image I get is him getting all kissy-poo with Floyd just before Floyd knocked him on his ass.
Some images are hard to shake.
-
Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
Ortiz is a quitter. No one is going to pay to see him unless it is in a guy's hometown and his friends and family make up half the crowd.
-
Ortiz looked good against a decent top 20 or 30 rugged trial horse in Saul Corral. Corral was game but def overmatched. Good comeback win for Ortiz, but hard to have any faith in him against someone serious as he's quit too many times.
-
Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
He did what was expected. Let's hope his team looks out for him and doesn't feed him to the lions.
-
Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
Anyone know the how the bad blood between Rios and Ortiz started?
I heard there were rumours that Victor tried it on with his wife or something..what's the real story?

Same promotion and two guys glued back together more times than Frankenstein ;D. Not sure about the wife but bad blood sells. Really though I think the last Rios we saw runs right thru him and takes his lunch money.
Deloach fight on undercard was pretty fun. Hard road back for him.

Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
Ortiz was my favorite boxer for a time. If I'm not mistaken he had two alleged comebacks both didn't work out. I saw Jim grey interview him and he said something along the lines of the fire left his belly or something to that effect. I would actually love to see him come back and do something but I think that ship has sailed.

Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
Looks like Ortiz vs John Molina Jr is set for last September.
Should be an entertaining brawl.
-
Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
Ortiz let me down against Floyd, he faked that knockout. He should stick to acting.

Damn, that's harsh. Floyd took the opportunity that was presented to him. Ortiz has no one wrist to blame but himself. But faked? Now there's a conspiracy.

Floyd and 'gentlemanly' have never frequented the same time zone. But Ortiz was due. You billy goat a guy then try to hug him? Floyd actually fought with an attitude and went for a ko for once.
-
Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
Yeah that Billy Goat thing was beyond ridiculous I've seen stuff like that on the playground with third graders but never expected that in a prize fight. To follow that up with the Ghey Fest with the kissing and the hugging..... mehhhhh, Ortiz is an idiot.
-
Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
I would have liked to set that fight play out. The ref had waived them in so Ortiz should have been protecting himself.
-
Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
Yes I was so disappointed also. Ortiz seem to be coming on a bit there. it's kind of like when Tyson was coming on in the rematch with Holyfield and then he bit the ear. I wanted to see that fight go on too. It's almost the same feeling I get when I think of the Mayweather Ortiz fight.
I always wonder. Could there have been a way to give Ortiz 5 minutes to recover and offer him the opportunity to continue if you wanted?

Yep it's disappointing when good match-ups are cut short.
The ref tells you to protect yourself at all times at the beginning of a fight, Ortiz should have just kept his head in the game. He let his guard down for a second and Floyd pounced.

I should've said "No pun intended", but just put up a smilie instead.

Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
you guys must know something about Victor Ortiz that I don't know or read some kind of what, incriminating stuff about him that I don't know. But I guess I can imagine by that comment

Nah its just that I said he "should have kept his head in the game", the headbutt was what caused it all in the first place. Tito was pointing out the pun. I then corrected to "stayed focused".
-
Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
Oh now I got it. I thought it was something about the way he was hugging and kissing Floyd after the referee broke them up. Ahhh WTF do I know...... 😑
Getting too old to understand shit anymore
-
Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
That right hand that Floyd threw would not have been enough to knock out Ortiz he has taken harder and carried on.

I think your wrong. Like they say, It's the punch you don't see coming. He got hit with the left hook, then was left looking at the ref.
-
Re: Victor Ortiz returns..
Arm punch for me. Ortiz was looking for a disqualification or a way out.
