Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
Well, he had a good win over Gerald Washington. He didn't go crazy, he just worked his guy down to a crawl until he could not continue anymore.
I think Miller has something in him. Showed a fairly decent chin, albeit Washington's power is not that good. I think Miller would do well with going up against Dominic Brazeale or one of the Eastern European plods like Wach, Pulev or someone of that nature.
What do you think?

Jarrrell is a plodder and takes too many punches to get to the highest level. I was not impressed at all.

But he can take a lot of the punches, and due to his size compared to others, he has to take a lot of punches. He has a reach of 191 cm for a guy 6 feet 4. Trevor Bryan is the same height but with a reach of 201 cm. Gerald Washington was 2 and a half feet taller than Miller, with a reach of 208 cm.
Jarrell Miller's only chance is to get in and get in a lot... Make no mistake about it, he is not a Mike Tyson in terms of Tyson's quick lateral movement, waste movement, bobbing, weaving and hand speed... But when he does plow in he keeps his hands up and tanks through it like a soldier and he is ACCURATE on the inside and shakes people up into moving their guard when he lands heavy shots.
He is going to have a very short career, and it is why he needs to get a title fight before the middle of next year if not sooner. Guys like him, while good and can fight, cannot fight over the long term due to factors raised.
JMO....

Re: Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
You asked the question , so I'll give an honest answer. I watched some of the fight last night against Washington, and I'd heard about this guy being seen as a US HW with a lot of potential.
I honestly thought he was awful. I'm not gonna say he's "shit or crap" because that's disrespectful. I'm not even gonna say he's not World class, because with the current lack of quality in the HW's , it might turn out that he is World Class!
But he was slow, didn't throw any punches with conviction or bad intentions, he didn't throw enough, his movement is never gonna be great at his size, he's cumbersome and had no real desire IMO.
he's like a bigger, poor man's version of Dillian Whyte . And people on here know what I think of Dillian Whyte!!

His sheer size, strength, and determination to press forward will take him far in the division. Looks in shape despite weighing so much.
-
Re: Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
big galoot with strength but is going nowhere , Washington couldn't break an egg and he rocked him.
-
Re: Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
He needs to get his weight down for a start. His chin is still a question mark. For a guy that size his power is nothing to rave about. He will struggle against better opposition.
-
Re: Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
His weight is a joke. He will create a human sink hole if ever facing fast explosive whackers like Wilder or AJ - TimmmBerrrrrrrrrr!!! Call the construction company, we need a forklift.
He's a good badass character/talker though.
The pre-fight between him and Whyte/Chisora would be mental. No way it doesn't kick off
-
Re: Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
But Andy Ruiz is no better....
-
Re: Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
Peaking? ;D What was he like on the way up and what will he like like on the way down? To be fair his chin seems solid so he will give other heavies rounds. The Whyte fight would be fun but I can't see him troubling anyone with or approaching a belt.

Re: Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
His legs make David Tuas look like Wilders. Its weird, the weight is nuts but looks largely concentrated in his base. Up top he's just fookin thick. He has the gift for gab down and knows how to make time on the mic. For a 'have a look' fight the Washington match was good chance and ties him into Wilder a bit, who he's been barking for over some months. To compare two fatties he has nothing on Andy Ruiz as far as boxing skill.

Re: Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
So is a straight up duck not to travel for Pulev fight or just a slackers route to the wba trinket? Not a fan of Miller talking it all up and then backing away.

I'll go with the latter. But its probably a little bit of both. Millers #3 across the board for Joshua in terms of mandatory. He probably figures its more trouble than its worth when he can just wait and hope someone puts mileage on AJ. Miller seems like a decent dude out of the ring but its probably the same motivation as most of the fighters today. He wants money and doesn't want someone like Pulev drawing back the curtain on his deficiencies(not that theyre already quite apparent). He'd rather get paid big to lose than take a chance and get paid smaller to win, secure his position for the winner of Wilder/ Joshua which will probably be the second fight at Wembly.
Miller likes to hang straight back and try to counter aggressors at theyre leaning into his counters. Not a very god style match up for Pulev that likes to throw punches in bunches and a straight line approach. Miller could wind up on his back a few times from some off balance flashies.

Yep and disappointing. It honestly reads a bit like the Wilder situation. But at least Wilder took a flight or two to actually get to a 'bigger show'. Miller now positions himself waiting on a geriatric Fres Oquendo who has not fought in 4+ yrs or Charr for empty belt who has never come to the States. I think both might be over estimating a strap rather than significance of a bigger win. Miller looked to be pushing many of his punches last out. Quicker than one would think given his size but after initial bursts he just kind of hangs in close.

Fighters like Miller are what counter my newly-found enthusiasm for the heavyweight division after the Joshua-Wlad fight.

With Kuzmin looking to face Price also, it's all getting a bit silly.

Re: Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
He was meant to fight Szpilka but couldn't agree the deal so Adamek stepped in. Miller has signed with Hearn so is just hanging around for the big payday as Joshua's USA debut

Re: Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
Eddie Hearn defends criticism of "Big Baby" Miller vs. Tomasz Adamek matchup
CHICAGO - Criticism of the upcoming heavyweight tilt featuring top contender Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller and former two-division world champion Tomasz Adamek has come from both far and near.
Some have deemed it a "gross mismatch" and others have wondered why Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn would even stage the Oct. 6 bout exclusively on DAZN, headlined by Jessie Vargas vs. Thomas Dulorme, when better options were available.
Hearn doesn't agree with the assessment made by many. He believes that Adamek was the best available fighter for Miller due to unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua facing Alexander Povetkin and Deontay Wilder likely to fight Tyson Fury.
"I see it as (No. 7) in BoxRec (rankings) against No. 15 in the world." Hearn told Sporting News. "I don’t see how you can call it a gross mismatch. I see Miller as a big favorite. I see Miller kind of treading water right now in the division while he’s waiting for Joshua to fight Povetkin and Wilder to make up his mind on what he wants to do. Dillian Whyte’s just boxed. I was going to put him on this Oct. 6 show, always."
When the partnership between Matchroom and the streaming service owned by Perform Group was revealed in May, one of Hearn's initiatives was to have fights in the hometowns of fighters and where they are the most popular with the hopes of selling the most tickets and luring people in long term. The latter fits into exactly why Hearn wanted to have the Miller-Adamek bout in Chicago.
"We are coming to a city which hosts the (second) largest Polish population," Hearn explained. "Tomasz Adamek is a legend of Polish sport and he’s coming off two good wins. I don’t see it as a mismatch. I see Jarrell as a huge favorite, but you’re not talking about a guy whose challenged for a world title and now works in a café."
Adamek (53-5, 31 KOs) fought for the heavyweight title against then-WBC champ Vitali Klitschko in Sept. 2011, losing by 10th round KO. The 41-year-old has an aggressive approach and won't take a back seat to anyone.
But when it comes down to it, Hearn believes Miller will prove to be too much for the former light heavyweight and unified cruiserweight champion.
"He’s a former world champion who believes he can beat Jarrell Miller,' Hearn said. "He has a very shot boxing brain. He thinks he has a way to beat Jarrell Miller and he is going to do it in front of a lot of Polish fans at the Wintrust Arena.
"I think Jarrell wins by knockout."

Re: Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
This new generation of American hopefuls is making yearn for a young skilled Riddick Bowe :-X. Starting to wonder if Hearn just wants to sabotage and feed his worst instincts. 317 and path is absurd.

Re: Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
Thing is you don't look at him and think 317 pounds. He clearly carries it in his build. Toney had sagging man boobs and a beer belly, Miller at least looks semi-defined. He has good output and movement for a man that heavy.

Re: Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
Still I hope for the upset.

Re: Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
I'd like to see Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller fight and defeat his uncontrollable urges to eat enormous amounts of fried chicken.

Re: Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller- Peaking before our eyes!
Miller vs Whyte, or Breazeale would be pretty nice.

Or Chisora, Parker, Ortiz, Kownaki, Martin or even Joyce soon.
Lots of good fights to be made for all these heavyweights at the moment.

As is said, he's thick. Everything on him is built like a redwood and his legs make Tuas look like a middleweight.
Next time out is the time to make a move though, time to step up. He has loads of energy just wonder about his overall motivation and Hearn feeding him ghosts doesn't do much for him.

I am not sure that even George Foreman could hurt him to the body
