Who do you think won? GGG or Canelo?
Apparently GGG won only 2 rounds in the fight according to one paid 'expert'. Another had it as a draw and another the tiniest of margins for Golovkin. I just wonder how we have it here on the site. Golovkin, Canelo or a draw?
-
Re: Who do you think won? GGG or Canelo?
GGG won but I don't have any problems with the draw, Jesus I wouldn't have minded if Ginger Pubes got the nod
What does fuck me off is 1 bullshit card which was clearly scored before the fight even started, that's what pisses me right off.
It wasn't just GGG that was robbed, the fans were robbed of a legitimate decision, as I said before, if you are going to cheat at least try to make it believable.
-
Re: Who do you think won? GGG or Canelo?
I thought Canelo started sharper with GGG tentative. From the 3rd onwards though Golovkin increasingly got the better of things and was the one applying constant pressure and landing that jab. Canelo was landing in his spurts but they were few and far between. Then he seemed to wake up in the 11th and 12th, but by that stage Canelo was way down IMO. It was a good fight, but I think it answered all the questions. GGG knows that with a quicker start it is even more convincing, it is only the judges he has to convince. I would even go as far as to say I don't want to see a rematch. GGG has a few years left and it is pointless to just repeat a pretty obvious win. A Jacobs rematch is more deserving, or maybe a move up to 168 for a couple of fights. Canelo doesn't deserve it really and he was the one who denied Lara a rematch despite an obvious loss. Like Orange Boy said: "No rematch".

Re: Who do you think won? GGG or Canelo?
Golovkin won easy in my book 8-4/9-3
I wasn't in the least bit surprised by the cards (I won a few quid backing the draw), was expecting some shady shit all along, sursprised so many fans act like it's a shock. Vegas baby!
Golovkin has lost a step, the way he was following instead of cutting off the ring was winding me up, that's normally his bread and butter stuff, and he seemed overly cautious to pull the trigger at times. All in all though he won easy, Canelo's little spurts here and there became less and less relevant, to the point where he was surviving at the end not thinking about winning.
-
Re: Who do you think won? GGG or Canelo?
If GGG had gone to the body he would have won easier , he head hunted to much.
-
Re: Who do you think won? GGG or Canelo?
Floyd does what Canelo does all the time and wins...Canelo does the same thing and gets criticised because he wasn't fighting in the "Mexican" way...what bollocks!
Canelo had to fight that way and choose his moments.

Floyd snaps his opponents heads back, rarely except vs maidana gets caught on the ropes.
He does what Canelo tried to do to a much much higher level

Canelo won and I agree with the 118-110 scorecard
Not sure what the other two judges were watching

@Batman you don't get points for punching the air
All GGG did was plod forward and miss punches
Don't be upset because your boy got exposed.

Obviously Floyd is in a different league but Canelo is getting better.
GGG output and big shots were compressed because he was reluctant to get countered.
GGG still looked strong and has a huge chin and heart but showed nothing else but moving forward..no angles etc.

I said before the fight that it was going to be close, I didn't have GGG winning by some extreme margin like some of the folk on here
I did also call the fix before the fight, Canelo would have had to have been taken out in a bodybag for GGG to get the result, the fact that Loma actively requested that Adelaide Byrd not be a judge when he fought Walters tells you all you need to know about her.
I just wonder how much she got paid

You are a Muppet if you bothered to watch the fight properly GGG was the one who was more active, landing consistently and winning the rounds. Canelo was pot shotting, missing, tired and doing very little.
You can not even admit that Canelo lost.

Re: Who do you think won? GGG or Canelo?
@Master your boy couldn't even land consistently on Canelo so just imagine if that was Mayweather he was in with. Golovkin is everything I said he was (predictable and one dimensional) he plods forward and throws slow punches. All the class and the quality came from Canelo last night. I don't expect you to see that because you can't even see that Floyd's a great fighter despite him legitimately beating Canelo (something GGG wouldn't do)

You remind me of Ross with his blind man on man love for Tyson Fury...are you his little brother or something?

Oscar says in the post fight presser
''Boxing won today, I had it 7-5 to Canelo and I think 118-110 is wide but this is boxing, I feel sorry for Byrd because she is a competent judge and has been scoring fights for years at the highest level, it was a great fight and today boxing won''

Wow. You really could not make that up. Is this the Truman Show and did Oscar say that with a straight face whilst standing upright?

Mayweather would never ever step in the ring with Golovkin. Massive size difference plus Floyd is old and and complete and utter wanker about losing his 0.

Come on.
You really think after the performance last night that Ward or Floyd wouldn't take GGG to school?
I know that 99% of saddos consider Floyd and Ward boring...but you can not ignore their skillset.
They both own GGG.

Re: Who do you think won? GGG or Canelo?
I can't believe that people still want to talk about Floyd v GGG
In what fucking world does that fight ever actually happen?

First sensible post I've seen on here today! Anyone who thinks GGG can handle Mayweather or Ward after his last two fights is a fucking retard. Simple as that.

Imp I can forgive but GayMo not. Read what I said size, age (inactivity) and retired (wants to preserve his 0) means he will not come back.
Lets be realistic about it.
I also think GGG will not go up in weight but stay and haunt Canelo because Saul has no where to go with GGG occupying all the belts.

Canelo can have a rematch with Cotto while GGG waits around with his thumb up his bum. We all know GGG won't give Jacobs a rematch so why should Canelo rush to give him one?
-
Re: Who do you think won? GGG or Canelo?
Holy mother of god!
Cotto rematch, yes that is about Canelo's level.
Canelo would not even contemplate Jacobs.
GGG can beat up Saunders whilst Canelo can sit on his ass for May 2018.
-
Re: Who do you think won? GGG or Canelo?
I had GGG by 2 points. He was just the busier fighter. Something I said he had to do in order to win.

Let him fight Saunders :biglaugh: that bum was so boring last night nobody is going to want to watch that fight. GGG will make pennies fighting Saunders compared to what Alvarez would make fighting Cotto so let him crack on with that amazing idea!

This. When do we just give a fighter rounds- in this case GGG- for just stalking a guy and looking aggressive? Canelo beat GGG in power punches connected, power punches percentages and overall total punches landed. GGG had him in the jab department, which is expected for a man with a longer reach and for Canelo who barely throws jabs at all. http://www.boxingscene.com/canelo-vs...-stats--120563
The ISSUE I said before was: It was NOT how many punches Canelo landed over GGG, but it was HOW MUCH GGG MISSED!!!
Pitty-patter jabs is one thing, but when you miss hard jabs and or a follow up punch after the jab; better yet you are out-counter-punched at almost every, single solitary time... You will not get rounds or the fight with me, at least.
Canelo: 116-112. But there was a time when I felt GGG would cause him to stop after the 10th.

Ffs, can we please not mention damaged goods Cotto as a serious fight for Canelo!
Canelo must fight GGG in a rematch asap...and can someone explain what the F&ck is jacobs waiting for?!

GGG picks up the only other trinket and leave Canelo scratching his arse wondering what else can he do at middleweight. It may even force Canelo to move back to light middle. Shame. :)

Re: Who do you think won? GGG or Canelo?
Just read this comment on Lennox Lewis Facebook page and I think it's a bang on comment
I feel it was fixed, and it comes down to the fact that because McGregor v Mayweather took all the attention in the build up, GGG v Canelo didn't get the publicity and media attention it should have done, meaning it hasn't made half as much for the promoters and sponsors as it should have done. Having a draw means they have to fight again giving them an opportunity to make double their money and possibly set up a third fight, because everyone is going to want to see GGG put this right. #corrupt
-
Re: Who do you think won? GGG or Canelo?
golovkin won the fight no question. It was a great fight and a credit to both men. The judges were a joke. It is very sad that good judges are hard to find. Or is it promoter influence. I hope not

You would think they would have the brains to make it less obvious and be more subtle about it.
