Re: Hatton v Mayweather anniversary
I don't know, I'm not surprised by it being 10 years ago, it feels like it was that long ago.
I think I was still living at me mom n dads at the time, I really wanted Hatton to do it.
I just remember the post fight interview he came across as a bit of a prick (as the Brits usually do) and was joking about slipping and shit like that rather than giving credit where it was due.
Would have been a different fight if the ref let him fight on the inside like he wanted to.

Re: Hatton v Mayweather anniversary
Cortiz was so far up Floyd's ass he got lost. It was on BBC the next day free.
Manny v Hatton was even better.

Re: Hatton v Mayweather anniversary
I was in London for a weekend at the time and the hotel had a casino next door and I watched the fight in there. All the sour grapes about Cortez is bollocks. Hatton was outskilled and no shame in that, he was up against a quality operator.

Nah its not sour grapes on my part about Cortez, Floyd wins either way but I think it would have been a better fight if Ricky was allowed to fight his own fight

Hatton was in the fight in the first half of the fight and was giving Floyd hell considering it was Floyd's weight. Cortez was paid to sabotage Ricky's chances and deducted a point unfairly which sent Hatton into delirium and he lost the fight.
I heard it all on radio 5 live for free.

Re: Hatton v Mayweather anniversary
I spoke to cortez about two hours before the fight telling him to let it go on the inside. I was a bit drunk.
Joe ignored me and thought I had a drink problem

This will probably be in The Sun tomorrow
EXCLUSIVE - We reveal 10 years on how Mark TKO destroyed Ricky Hattons chance of victory.
Sun sources have uncovered the shocking truth about how one mans drunken ramblings infuriated Cortez to the point that he decided to gift the fight to Mayweather.

You should have kidnapped him and heard the fight on radio.

Re: Hatton v Mayweather anniversary
Crazy to think it's been a decade! First bet on Saddos I ever made and first one I lost. What the Hell was I thinking 'Hatton by ko' ;D:-X.

Re: Hatton v Mayweather anniversary
When the fight was first announced I gave Hatton a thirty percent chance.
After a couple of days on the piss in Vegas with the British contingent I became convinced he was going to finish mayweather in the first round with a barrage of body shots.
Then the opening bell rang....

Re: Hatton v Mayweather anniversary
I still think that Joe Cortez ruined the fight. He wouldn't allow any inside fighting, meanwhile look at all the actual clinching that you see go on in all too many fights these days. Then there was that bogus point deduction. Joe Cortez was awful and I am surprised he wasn't put to the gallows immediately following the fight. Hatton might well have lost anyway, but you never know. He might have been able to hustle it. Likely not. Hatton shortened his career with his lifestyle and I think you saw that play out somewhat against Floyd. Floyd for all his faults was always in condition. There is something to be said for not getting hammered on a regular basis.

Re: Hatton v Mayweather anniversary
Fun fight, wish Ortiz would have let Hatton hold, It was fun watching Floyd win on the inside. The outside was too easy
