Matthysse-Kiram/Linares-Gesta - Saturday HBO/BoxNation

Matthysse has never been the same since his eye popped against Garcia, however, he could yet prove a dangerous addition to 147 if his lights-out clump carries, and has a style that never makes for a dull fight.

Kiram is 38-0 (28 KOs), looks a massive welter (might just be an illusion as Thai fighters generally operate in lower divisions) but his best win is over ancient old Kaiser Mabuza. Kiram looks a typical aggressive/tough Thai, however, having watched him fumble about with the speed ball at the press workout day, and seeing him eat right hands as he marches forward, he needs to have a granite chin otherwise it's goodnight Irene for him, quick.

If Kiram walks through the bombs he has the size/youth to make the jaded blaster regret not retiring.

There's no KO prices yet but the young Thai is 6/1 (generally).

If Matthysse has anything left he should handle the business. Unfortunately we didn't really get a good gauge of where he is at in his last fight. Kiram is an unknown commodity, he could be blasted in a round, or surprise us all. I think it'll be a bit of both. Matthysse may have slipped enough to allow Kiram to trouble him at times. Kiram may not be durable enough to last the distance against the rugged Argentine.

I like Matthysse I have an upset itch. Just feels like they are trying to preposition him as 147 trinket holder and he cannot afford to play physical now. As much as he's billed a pure bomber he's not but can be forced now. Jab of Kiram no joke either and frankly it's one of those grab-bag type matches that can only be entertaining.

I have chosen Kiram to win but like Matthysse so he will have to lose for me.

I watched Kiram's last fight, he was knocked down pretty bad early, the ref gave him about 60 seconds to get his rubbery legs back under him ;D

His size is no joke though, it's clear from the head-to-head he looks much bigger than Matthysse.

Yea I'm just not confident in Matthysee at 147 at this stage of his career. I think he'll win, but not enough to risk giving someone over 100 points in a failed challenge.

I'm pretty sure I've only seen Gesta fight once and he absolutely stunk the place out. I can't see him upsetting Linares.

Feels like Linares is always one fight away from a slip up though.

Gesta really leaves himself out of position after punching, little bit of nervous bluff Linares can sniff out.

Good start to the 6th for Gesta, Linares smothering most of his work tho. 5-1 Linares.

It was Gesta versus Miguel Vazquez I was remembering. Vazquez wasn't exactly the most exciting fighter to watch and Gesta wasn't at his level and didn't try.

Linares just landed a peach of a left upper at the start of the seventh and it just bounced off Gesta. So far Gesta is taking it quite well. More big punches from Linares.

Loving those combos from Linares in the 7th.

Linares cut, this is Gesta's chance to target one of his achilles.

For a small lad with a low centre of gravity Gesta's balance is shocking. Flat footed as well. Not a good combination. He's got a chin though.

Gesta thinks he's Pac but unfortunately he can't punch

Even in a baggy t shirt warming up Kiram looks like a specimen. Matthysse looked shopworn last time out and retired and I have a feeling he's only back for the money. That's a pretty safe bet, isn't it. I've never seen the Thai lad fight but I have a feeling Lucas has his hands full here.

I gave Gesta the 10th. Linares the 11th.

Being generous I could give Gesta 3 rounds.
