I think it's worse than that, I think his wife is seriously ill and I think there's a just giving page for her treatment because she can't have it on the NHS or something. It's all very sad. This is one of the most truly talented and skilful Boxers that this country has ever created. As far as I'm concerned, he Boxed how you should Box and how every guy who steps in the ring should aspire to Box.
It seems wrong that he never won a World title and less talented people did. Very sad.
Herol Graham was in Boxing Weekly a couple of weeks ago about his battle with mental illness but did not know about his wife.
Not good.
Clarke Carlisle came to where I work today to do a talk on mental illness and what he’d been through. Was fascinating what he had been through.
All about raising awareness of it and for others to understand. Many of us don’t unless we been affected by it
Who knows what goes on in peoples heads , but getting hit by Hawk Jackson cant help the noggin.
Lets talk about how Herol Graham was :-
mandatory to fight Hagler who chickened out of fighting him and took on Ray Leonard,
how he was unfairly docked a point against McCallum and would have got a draw,
Ingle left him and ended up losing to Kalambay
was avoided by Eubank, Benn and Watson.
Julian Jackson busted up Herol's fists before KOing him. ;)
Hagler chickened out ?
And there was i thinking you knew nothing about boxing Master.....
what would Hagler have done to Graham....
no one outside Britain was crying out for this one. Graham wasn't a big enough name for Marvin at that stage of his career.
Ducked - no way
Graham had an ugly style , talked like a bummer , and looked like a ponce . He just was never going to be big outside of Britain , however he was a hell of a fighter.
As for his Bald Eminence he didn't duck anyone.
I'd be astonished if Hagler ducked Herol Graham because he thought he might lose. Hagler was a genuine monster at middleweight.
I could perfectly accept that he didn't want to fight Graham because it would be a low low earner for him. Herol was a fantastic boxer, but he wasn't what Americans liked to watch at the time (style wise) and he wasn't well known at all outside the UK. Surely it would be normal for an established undisputed champion to want to take fights that would be good earners and catch the public attention as well as being legacy building?
I thought Herol was a good good fighter, but I can't see how he would have beaten Hagler, especially in the US.
If Leonard did it then Herol Graham would have done it with ease.
Now stop arguing with me.
But Leonard didn't beat Hagler ........
Master needs to go
