The undefeated, young prime BJS to unify the title and would be the logical choice.
Billy Joe Saunders: Gennady Golovkin talks in progress, says promoter Frank Warren
Billy Joe Saunders would fight Gennady Golovkin "in his garden", says the Briton's promoter Frank Warren.
He told BBC Sport talks have taken place with the Kazakh fighter's camp over a unification fight between the two undefeated middleweight champions.
Saunders, 28, could face Golovkin in June, instead of his scheduled fight with fellow Briton Martin Murray.
Golovkin was due to fight Saul Alvarez on 5 May in Las Vegas, but the Mexican withdrew from the rematch on Tuesday.
Alvarez is awaiting the outcome of a hearing into an adverse drug test.
WBA, WBC and IBF champion Golovkin, 35, said on Wednesday that Alvarez's replacement would be named soon, adding he would still be defending his titles on 5 May in Las Vegas.
That date would be too early for Saunders, who is unable to spar until 14 April after picking up a hand injury, which caused the postponement of his WBO defence against fellow Englishman Murray until 23 June.
"We have had conversations [with Golovkin's camp] and will speak later today and see where it goes," said Warren.
"Provided Golovkin would be willing to fight in June, Bill would be available.
"I understand they are looking at 5 May in Vegas, but I am not sure if they will find an opponent or sell a show out in such a short space of time.
"I am hoping they will take the fight, then we can do it here or go to the States, but that will be their call," added Warren, who said a fight in England would "have to be a stadium fight".
Warren says the fight would have to be agreed "sometime this week".
He said: "We need to know soon and not let it drag on. There is a short window to do it and we need to get a decision.
"In the meantime we have not postponed the Murray fight, but if this one comes up in between obviously we would consider it, provided the terms are OK. Bill would like to fight Golovkin, there is no doubt about that.
"Bill said he would fight him in his garden."
Warren said a contract was agreed for the two to fight last year, but Golovkin was instead rested before his first fight with Alvarez in September, which ended in a controversial draw.
"Golovkin has stated many time he wants to fight Bill. Bill wants it, Golovkin says he wants it. I do not know if Golovkin's management wants it. There should be no problem making it - on paper it is a great fight."
Despite Golovkin's record of 33 knockouts from 37 fights, Warren believes Saunders could beat him.
"This is a fight that will define his legacy and I genuinely believe he can win. But he has to be 100%, I am not having him get in there with a hand injury."

Eubanks Jr has just thrown all of his pens in the bin and is sitting in the corner of his big old lonely mansion with the curtains closed and the phone unplugged whilst rocking backwards and forwards hoping that no one contacts him to offer him the fight...what he doesn't realise is that he is completely irrelevant and there is no way that GGG would even consider him.
JR would go to war with GGG..that would be a great fight!
Eubank Jnr would get smashed to pieces against Golovkin, because he has a good chin but can't box or fight very well.
He should fight his IBF mandatory, Sergiy Derevyanchenko. He's willing, ready and eager.
O'Sullivan is willing, but not really qualified for a PPV fight.
Saunders is not willing to fight him in May, although he says he'll fight GGG in September.
Charlo is the WBC mandatory, but he has a fight scheduled against a low-ranked opponent. Jacobs is also already scheduled to fight. Eubank Jr and Ramirez cannot make 160. Andrade is not serious about fighting Golovkin.

BJS said he can't fight in May because of the hand injury but he can be ready by the first or second weekend of June
Is the date set in stone? Like it or not, I’d imagine enough people who already bought tickets were Canelo supporters and might not go along with another opponent:-\ I haven’t read anything about whether they are refunding tickets, but if so a month isn’t a lot of time to build up a different fight. Would surely be very difficult to work out the purse splits and everything especially, if they want the best opponents possible. For me, Jacobs bjs, Charlo or Sergiy are better than canelo anyways. Ramirez probably couldn’t make the weight at all much less in time, Eubanks or spike would be a waste of time.
In order from who I most want to least
Charlo
Jacobs
BJS
Derevyachenko (or however you spell it)
Murata
Andrade
Anybody else would be very disappointing because I just named six fighters who would be at very least decent options.
Prospective opponents saying they can fight GGG in June, July, or September are forgetting one thing. How about the process GGG has been going through training and getting ready to peak on May 5th for the Clenbelo fight? So, let's just cross that date off the calendar... I think three weeks from next Saturday I might have an opening?? It's not quite that simple.
Golovkin should try 168 and see what's like. Let him fight David Benavidez or Gilberto Ramirez
Anyone really. Just stay busy and make sure he has 2 big fights to see the year out. I don't mind if it is not a big opponent this time. GGG can get a quick stoppage, have a short break and really try and finish the year on a push to the sun. It's unfair on him and his opponent to just fight at such short notice. This isn't the 1950's, though it would be nice if it was.
Voted Jacobs, I think he deserves a rematch.
Of the guys I heard had put their hand up (Ramirez, Andrade and O'Sullivan), I say Ramirez, he's got a title at the weight above.
I wonder how keen Charlo is now to drop Centeno?
Saunders
Ramirez
Jacobs
Charlo
Derevyanchenko
Murata
Andrade
O'Sullivan
I like Jacobs but too tough with a few weeks. Would like to see it in December though. Stop Saunders in 6 in September and then do battle with Jacobs again in December. That would really leave Canelo in the dust for good.

The fight date has already been announced for May 5, too late now.
I don't believe Saunders is serious about fighting him in June anyway, he's saying that because he knows the event has to happen on the Mexican holiday weekend of May 5.
It looks like Jamie Munguia may get the nod over O'Sullivan.
I don't see undercard listed either???. He'll do bad numbers or they'll slash tickets to fill seats. Then watch beefcake Canelo play up shat ppv numbers if some rematch come to be down the road :-X.
At least O'Sullivan won semi eliminator and is promoted by Oscar. Might be the first Irishman coming to the ring in a sombrero ;D but makes more sense.
I assumed this wouldn’t be PPV. If it is, I’m not even 100% it’s worth my time trying to find a stream. Especially if there is no good undercard.
Billy Joe Saunders will wipe the floor with anybody from the Central Asian steppes
Jamie Munguia? Any jokes that get posted on social media get taken serious these days, it's hilarious how many times the fake accounts on twitter get taken for the real thing.
Imagine how sick you'd have to be to put a 21-year-old 154lber in with Golovkin.
The commission aren't going to approve Munguia. Andrade or O'Sullivan.
Quite right too. The authorities showing some cojones for a change. Is it me, but I don't see why GGG is so desperate to fight on Cinco de Mayo? He ain't fucking Mexican , and he might not be fighting a Mexican.
Through no fault of his own, he's in a shit situation , but he should take stock and act quickly. Step off the gas training for a week or two , set up an early June date with either Charlo , Jacobs or BJS (they could all get out of the fights they're committed to if need be for this.) and fight a meaningful fight.
If he wins , fight one of the others in September, and if he wins that, fight the last of those 3 in the first half of 2019.
But please, please , please don't reschedule with Clenelo for September!
Apparently GGG has a problem finding an opponent for Cinco De Mayo. Only the bottom tier guys are willing to fill the date. No Andrade, no Saunders, no no-one.
What should happen?

It sounds like he won’t fight Andrade on short notice because he is southpaw and is a completely different style as Canelo.
I understand fully that money runs sports but it’s extremely annoying when these excuses are made. I mean seriously you are a fighter. You prepared to fight so fight. You should be able to adjust.
He should take on Connor MacGregor.... :S
Cinco de Mayo is the most lucrative date in the USA calendar. Vegas, sponsors, promoters, TV, fans and fighters all crave that holiday weekend, it makes a statement for Golovkin to pull it off on his own regardless of success. Plus venues and TV slots can't be booked on a whim, they are planned long in advance.
I would be willing to take him on on short notice. I could probably make 168 by May 5th we would have to be able to fight at that weight. If I lost more than that I would be too drained for the fight. He is not used to fighting a crouching pressure fighter like I would fight him. I don't think he can take pressure Fighters. he's not a Marvin Hagler who faced John the Beast mugabi for 8 Wicked grounds who was right in his face throwing hammers from hell with both hands like 100 punches per round. I would fight him like a middleweight using Rocky Marciano Style. No way can he take that kind of constant pressure and body attack. Does anybody know how I can contact the Cinco de Mayo promotional companies and offer to fight Triple G. I don't want the fans to be disappointed because it looks like there will be no fight at all if they don't find someone quick. My only demand would be that this is a 15-round fight because I know I would catch him in the championship rounds although it would be closed through 12.
Fenster no problem but it was just a friendly gesture as we recently declared a truce and this topic is rather interesting as I was laying my neck out putting my neck out for criticism and I was just playfully wanting him to say how fat I am or how chubby or how old I am and that I would probably get knocked out during the staredown before the opening bell. Unfortunately it was not received in this playful and jovial manner and that is fine. I do want to stay for the record though that it was merely a friendly gesture of jocularity and silliness
Now Fenster focus on the most important important part of my post since you are my promoter hurry the hell up and call the Cinco de Mayo Commission I am already down to 181 lb I will be ready to go
I think they're stuck network and long planned ppv wise and on a months notice seems they're trying to have it both ways. Wanting top name and salvage ppv billing and almost feels like Golovkin is still sitting in opponent role for a random TBA. Credit to him, I'm not sure he thought once about saying screw date all together after the fiasco that Canelo created. On one hand be nice to win over top star, Jacobs Charlo BJS etc renders Canelo and reboot of rematch a lesser. Then again why should he? Or all things considered take a lesser guy and fill date like company man. Is the contract for rematch still intact with all of this going on? What seriously sucks is that either way he'll once again be forced and agree to wait for the big red cheater.
