Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
Deontay Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel has announced they have accepted an offer from Eddie Hearn to fight Anthony Joshua in the UK and are awaiting a contract from Joshua to confirm the mega-fight.
Speaking exclusively to World Boxing News, Finkel has stated the fight, if agreed on Joshua’s side, will take place towards the backend of the summer.
“The story is very simple and that is Deontay Wilder today, accepted the terms that Anthony Joshua’s team gave us," Finkel exclusively told World Boxing News in an interview on Monday.
"If for any reason Anthony changes his mind and wants to fight in the U.S, the $50m offer we have made to him is still there. It’s now in Joshua’s court.
"It will take place in the UK either September or October according to Eddie Hearn."
On how the agreement came about from Wilder's side, Finkel added: “They gave us an offer, we were hoping they’d accept the U.S offer instead because there’s so much money but instead since they haven’t we’ve decided that if you don’t want $50m then we’re willing to come the UK and take your offer.
"Hopefully, we’ll get an answer in the next day or two. Deontay wrote to Joshua and said ‘Hey, I accept your offer, let’s fight in the UK.’
“I met with Barry a week ago and have been on the phone to himself and Eddie regularly this week. We want the fight next, we're waiting for the contract and we’re ready to go.”
And the legendary boxing manager and promoter confirmed there is a rematch clause inside the contract for another fight between the pair Stateside.
Finkel said: “That was in the offer, yes. They asked for the rematch to be in place, so we’ve agreed to it.
"We got two big punchers, big men, undefeated and have knocked out each opponent apart from one on each side – it’s a humungous fight.
"I talk to Deontay late at night and if he’s out I hear people in the background asking when this fight is happening, and I imagine Joshua is experiencing that even more so," he concluded.

Good. Hopefully there are no more hang ups.

“Dear Anthony Joshua Fans,
Since your acting Dumb, Delusional or just plain Stupid here you go…. BREAKING NEWS
The $50M offer for Joshua to fight me next in the U.S. is still available to him if he wants it. In addition to that, today I agreed to their offer to fight Joshua next in the U.K. If Joshua prefers the fight in the U.K., the ball is in their court. It’s up to them to choose U.S. or U.K.
I’M IN!”https://www.boxingnewsandviews.com/2018/06/11/wilder-accepts-offer/

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
Of course they'll accept Hearn offer as the $50 millon was just a negotiating tactic with no money acutally there.

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
Just chatting on facebook with my brother who see's it like this.....
I think aj wins in a war I havent seen wilder proper tested and have to pull himself off the canvas like Joshua has and then to come back in explosive fashion as he did against Klitchko so that tips it to AJ for me
Its a good point really and i agree, we know for fact that Josh can take a massive Knockdown, get up and fire back, we've never seen WIlder be hit that hard yet and what he'll do when he is.
Ortiz had him all over the place but he was gifted a extra 30 seconds to recover.
With that in mind you have to give AJ the slight edge i think

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
So what happens if Josh has already agreed and signed contracts to fight his mandatory against Povetkin?
Can that be reversed?
Knowing the fight game and how dodgy it can be i'd hope it could be
-
Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
AJ should be favoured to win but since both are huge punchers with suspect chins, the winner will be the one who can hold his shit together.
-
Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
AJ hasn't signed to fight Povetkin because Povetkin's people are eager to go to purse bid. Is AJ willing to go to Russia to avoid Wilder is the question.

Povetkin will get some "step a side money" to allow this fight(s) to happen. Getting paid millions for sitting around and watching your future opponents beat the crap out of each other and you get the left overs is a dream come true.

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
Maybe wilder has got worried & realised that without AJ he is in the wilderness. Or more likely its more bullsh!t
-
Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
Wilder will knock him out. He doesn't care, he wants that scalp. Joshua will try and plod his way to winning rounds but once Wilder unloads it is goodnight. Wilder is too clever, athletic, powerful and fast. Joshua couldn't even beat an older Wlad as good as Fury and has forgotten how to stop opponents. He has gone as far as he can. Wilder is the man. Plus he is more likable not being media trained. Just has to bide his time, not get caught, wait for the gas, then KABOOM!

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
‘I spoke to AJ and Rob McCracken this morning and obviously we saw Deontay Wilder’s stuff on social media,’ Hearn told Sky Sports. ‘It’s great that he’s come back to us. We made this offer about four weeks ago and I don’t know if he’s come back because he’s heard we’re close to closing the [Alexander] Povetkin fight or whether he wants the fight, but either way he’s going to be getting a contract from us ASAP.
-
Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
Bit harsh saying they've got dodgy chins Master. I think both of their chins are just fine. Are they Oliver McCall fine? No, just regular human being fine.
I still have it a 50/50 fight. Someone is getting clattered though.
-
Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
A dodgy chin as far as I'm concerned is someone who doesn't get up. in the Heavyweights anyone can knock anyone down. Tyson was down a few times but look at the shots he took off Lennox as an example. Yeah he was counted out but fuck me he could take a clump.

Eddie is making out this is an old offer which wilder has only now accepted out of desperation.

Are you saying Eddie is BSing? Shocking!! Shocking I say.
What's it been 2.5 months since he said Wilder had agreed to fight Brazeale? Eddie, Eddie, Eddie SMH, just give up and agree to the fight. There is no getting out of it clean at this point. If they would rather go to Russia to fight Povetkin than take 50 million to go to USA for Wilder or take 60/40 to have Wilder in the UK then the writing is on the wall.

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
You all realize Eddie has already made his excuse right, no surprise. Now it isn't just that it needs to be in the UK. Now it's that it must be in Wembley. So it can't happen next. This crap is so transparent.
AJ-Give us 50 million and I'll agree tomorrow
Wilder-okay, here's 50 million
Er um er um
Eddie- we need to see the money
Wilder-okay
Eddie-er um, we need it in the UK
Wilder-Okay, I'll go to the UK
Eddie-er um. We can't do it in the UK because it can only be in Wembley, not Cardiff. It HAS TO WAIT(then why the F didn't this come up when you asked for it in the UK?!)
GTFOOHWT nonsense. People, call him out finally. It's been excuse after excuse. We need to see the money, we never asked to see the money. We have 3 or 4 questions, we have 6 or 7 questions. They answered our questions but we want it here, it can't be here it needs to be here but only at one place here.
Every single thing they ask Wilder agreed and they change what they are asking. Call Eddie on it! Make the man tell the truth. Stop accepting BS or all you will get is BS

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
If Wilder gave in on the location, his team should've been savvy enough to negotiate a better split than Hearn was initially offering. Who knows what the final split will be when it's all said and done. If it ends up being 70/30 or worse for Wilder, his entire negotiating team should be fired on the spot.

He's gonna win by KO. It's an easy pay day and then he rules the division.

Anyone remember when Eddie said "If someone agreed to my terms I send a contract within hours, why can't they send a contract? Why do I have to agree first?"
Umm, they've agreed to your terms Eddie, it's been more than hours, where's the contract?

Just like to reiterate that all the crap he was talking was nonsense and he proves it again and again.
Strange Deontay didn’t ask to see the money secured before he would consider agreeing, oh wait, no it’s not.

Just playing devils advocate her but...
If the deal is signed and it is in the UK and at the venue of Eddie's choice and AJ gets the bigger split and AJ gets the rematch clause and AJ pucks the dressing room and AJ gets pretty much everything that he wants...isn't that good negotiating on Eddie's part?
If he knew Wilder was desperate for the fight then he knew he held all the cards and he's played it to his own advantage.
-
Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
Same thing said 5 posts ago, but I preferred to call it shitty negotiating on Wilder's team's part.

I said all along it was good business. You can find me saying that many times in the Wilder thread. But you don't have to lie constantly to do business. And fans don't have to pretend lies aren't lies.

That’s kind of the point. Eddie said on June 7th he was talking to them every day. Then on June 12th after Wilder had agreed to another changed request, making him agreeing to every possible request Eddie said they hadn’t talked in 4 weeks. It can’t be both. And these lies aren’t helping make the fight. They are always connected to why they can’t make the fight. And he’s out there talking about February. F february, fight this year

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
Eddie says they won’t let Wilder hold up the fight. So my question, where is the contract that you said you could do “In a matter of hours” yet asked for days and is now 2 days late and counting? Get this thing done if you want it!
-
Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
Still not official.
The truth is, Wilder does not want to fight Joshua in the UK, he's more comfortable fighting journeymen like Szpilka and Washington (or shot fighters like Arreola) in his home country. Maybe his managers and promoter want him to take the fight for the big money, but I think Deontay is scared to death of being KOed and humiliated by the far better fighter Anthony Joshua.

Wilder may have piss poor technique and boxing skill but he is not afraid of AJ. Wilder was on the plane to fight Povetkin, who may have been on drugs like Drago was, so going to UK will be nothing in comparison.

Now, I’ve kept quiet because I’m not sure what the truth is, but you’re pretty certain team Wilder don’t have the contract? There’s not the slightest chance that they have the contract but haven’t signed it?
Ah, thought not.

I just saw something that said more progress is being made whatever that means. Back a few years ago I would have assumed the fight wouldn’t happen, but the past year or two has surprised me and most of the big fights end up being made. I think they will figure it out.

As I recall, Wilder was very reluctant to go to Russia.
The microscopic trace of something that had been legal a few months before (something not even a steroid) was not "drugs like Drago".
But it gave Wilder what he wanted: an excuse to not go ahead with the fight.

Yep, Wilder isn’t “one to be quiet” either as your precious google link shows. I can’t find one piece that says Eddie hasn’t sent the contract apart from good ol’ Bomb squad. Can you?
My point is that Until everything comes to light , I don’t know. But I’m always prepared to see both sides, and judge on what I see. This is where we differ.
You just want to twist everything to suit what you want to believe and ignore anything to the contrary.
With reference to your pathetic little “snark” jibe, I feel my point of view is far more balanced and what is really “snarky” is when someone says “oh, I just want the fight to happen and I want AJ to win,” when you clearly don’t . Or , “oh I like GGG,” when you haven’t got the balls to say you don’t like him , because it’s probably for non-boxing reasons.
Now that, my pedigree chum, is SNARKY.
