Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Another top name card flying under the radar ???. Come on fellas we have to get the mojo back ;D. Pretty good triple header tonight and always looking forward to Spence breaking out those hammers and doing work! Ocampo 22-0 (13) comes in undefeated but is going from the backyard pool to the dark deep ocean with here. Has all the making of a stay busy but I'd love to see Spence get checked for that sometime lax defense and carrying his head straight up.
Daniel Roman 24-2-1 actually did his job and made weight which cannot be said about 25-0 Moises Flores. Roman keeps his spr. Bantam strap regardless of a loss or win which doesn't make sense but should be a solid competitive scrap. Also Javier Fortuna comes off a well fought and very close 'L' to Robert Easter and will take on hard nail Adrian Granados who takes on all comers and can more than hold his own. He'll actually have the size here which I totally overlooked. Not much else going on fight wise so enjoy the fisticuffs :beerchug:

This ain't being shown in the UK is it?
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Good card but I just don't see Ocampo being competitive. Hard for me to get hyped up when the main event looks one sided.

Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Pretty solid card. I’ll be watching, but I have to go out this evening so ill be recording it and watching when I get back

Doesn't look like it . Odd as Spence arguably best established 147 going and hardly a push. Only info for particular promotion TgB is a twitter account.

Definitely one where undercard is more competitive on paper. Ocampo talking big but from what I've watched he's just whistling past a graveyard. Spence knows Crawfords in his house now and shined last week, might be even more brutal for Ocampo :-X.

Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Far different from the rest of the sport where I believe the better Spence looks the more Crawford will want it and vice versa. After tonight hopefully one more fantastic performance for each is enough to make it PPV worthy because Bob has been quite clear it doesn't happen until it is PPV.
Crawford/Spence
Loma/Garcia
GGG/Charlo
Are the fights I want most in the sport for quality and answers.(Would add someone that can give Inoue a run but I don't know who that would be.)

Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Didn't realize Ocampo became mandatory. Must know someone :-X. Could have slid a streaking Ugas in their for at least crafty style and earning his spot.
Granados and Fortuna heating up 3rd. Pretty even affair...….ref takes point from Fortuna in 4th? Rabbit punch
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Ref takes another point from Fortuna no warning ??? What was that!
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Oh man, this just went bizarre. Fortuna falls through ropes/pushed and hits head. Down and wincing. Haven't seen one of this in awhile???. Here comes the stretcher and neck brace. Fights over in 4th and Fortuna carted off. Wow. Need replay
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
2nd point deduct bogus. Fortuna went between ropes and was virtually standing on his head but contact outside not clear. Ruled NC. Very odd. Ocampo says he 'hopes he's ok' but says he wanted out ;D:-X.

Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Flores in 139 lbs and swinging for the fences in 1st. Roman landing nicely in between and hard left to body made Flores pause there. Legs of Flores look all wrong?
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
When a guy blows weight it shouldn't be a title fight. Roman working Flores body overtime and turning him in circles. Nice styles mash up but can't see Flores going 12 like this. Is Charlo wearing his pajamas ringside???.
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Flores going in for it but cannot deny sharpshooting mobile game of Roman. Little slower pace from Flores. One of those fights that feels closer than ya actually may have it, 4-0 here
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Ocampo looks real young, these unexposed, obscure-ish Mexicans are my favourite for being underestimated (they're also many times awful), however, unfortunately for him he'll probably have the career beat out of him if he can take a good shot. Spence is the biz.
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Roman brutalized the body in 5th, Flores still plugging forward but slower with both foot and hand. Flores being left in lurches in 6th after big swings. Getting tough in there.
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Rinse and repeat in 7th. Little bit more physical by Flores and Roman body work down.
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Maybe Flores takes 8th. Fight has entered a point of repetition. Nice triple lefts to Flores body and Flores gets in wide hook to end 9th. 8-1 Roman very composed
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Poor Flores has the footwork of a guy running on ice in 10th. Not necessarily hurt but mouth open huffing, awkward and punching at shadows. Flores one gritty dude hit from every angle.
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Didn't think it would be that one sided. Very poised game plan by Roman and consistent. I hope to be as low key and yeh whatever as Spence Jr one day ;D. Dude has no stress
116-112 :cwm13:...118-112...120-108 Roman U12.
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Showtime and Errol killing momentum with all this talk about the Dallas Cowboys ;D.
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Ocampo comes into ring with a Tequila sponsorship. Probaly a good idea and wise investment. Spence comes in with a shitty rapper. This could be very brutal..buuuut ya never know how those comfy 'homecomings' go. Ask Holyfield :kebab:
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Ocampo looking to stand ground and counter strong early. Clips Spence to body...and he's dropped with huge body shot in return
Man Down! KO1 for Spence
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
And lets just be real here...Spence beats Thurman like he owes him money and insulted his dag. Thurman doesn't want none of that.
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
The sad thing is, as the rate these welterweights fight at, that's Spence gone until next year. Is Thurman ever coming back?
Crawford last week now Spence this, it's all a bit dull. The best welter matchup of the year will be Garcia-Porter, the 4th/5th/6th best of the division.
-
Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
Two best fights on paper in the sport are
Loma/Garcia
Crawford/Spence
And Arum stands in the way of both. Hopefully soon
Hoping Spence vs Garcia/Porter winner can be done before the end of the year or at worst January. But more likely later leaving Crawford/Spence to summer and maybe Thurman’s bone spurs(hahaha) will be healed to finish out next year. I think Thurman/Crawford would be very interesting but Spence destroys Thurman. Spence/Crawford on the other hand I would sit the fence.

How much longer can Spence continue to get away with throwing brutal low blows?

Re: Showtime Fight Night: Spence Jr v Ocampo - Fortuna v Granados
My thoughts
I agree with Granados. Fortuna didn’t seem to really be hurt but just milked it. I watched the replay multiple times and couldn’t see how he hurt his head. First off, it didn’t look like it hit anything, and second, he fell pretty slow. Good fight but very unfortunate ending.
Roman looks good. He had a great gameplan and executed it. Couldn’t ask for anything more. 122 is a wide open division so he may be able to unify.
Spence was obviously way too good for Ocampo. Generally I don’t like fights marinating but I actually prefer both Crawford and Spence to have at least one more fight at welter against a top guy before their showdown. The only problem is I’m not sure who actually fights either of those two.

Like I said, Spence and Crawford want the other to look good. These two are the truth. Refreshing

Agreed. Both seem to genuinely want to fight the best and never duck anyone. That’s why I’m confident the fight will happen eventually
