ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
First no not that Angulo. Had me worried there ;D. Decent Saturday action. First up is Lenny Zappavingna 37-something and from Australia vs 27-0 (17) Alex Saucedo 140. Big enthusiastic crown in Oklahoma City and the ring is the size of a one car garage.
Main event Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez in his 4th defense of a 168 trinket against Roamar Alexis Angulo 23-0. On paper Angulo would look to be well in over his head. Ramirez needs to do something big these days
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Good evening everybody. These two look like identical twins.
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
What say Kirk how goes it. Good shot by Alex had Lenny Z wobbled but willing in 2nd. Fast hands on Saucedo.
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
That crowd there is impressive and LOUD. Do they have them on mics???. Lenny dropped hard and his face is falling apart. Right back up but paying a heavy tax, and he lands hard 1-2 on Saucedo ;D. Gritty round!
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Wooow Lenny Z landing piston 1-2s on Saucedo, brutal and he's rocked badly. Saucedo trying to find his way through and he's also cut. Damn war round here

Good evening mate. What a fight! I wonder what Lenny Z has left after that round.
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Seriously..blood on the camera lens :-X. All Lenny Z round 4 as both stood and traded fierce. Right eye of Saucedo looks like he was hit with a ball pen hammer.
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
They're both trying to outbleed each other. FOTY so far.
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Honestly speaking..when the hell did the fight scene in Oklahoma of all places become so rabid???. Nice to see. Brutal fight through 5th. Better have the mops and sutures ready after this one
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Lenny has some massive grapefruits but his face is literally a crimson mask, absolutely battered! Surprised Doctor not called to check
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Jesus Christ. It's a slaughterhouse.
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Look at the splatter patterns on the canvas. It's like a murder scene.
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Spoke to soon, long look before bell and Lenny says nah I'm good :foruml10gc5:. Has the feeling of now or never Saucedo turning it up start 7th.

Really dude not seen a mug that in awhile. They need to plastic sheet those ropes
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Corner of Lenny steps up and waves it off 2:31 7th. Very very hard fight! Saucedo has incredible backing it looks and give and take style. Lennys left eye Jebus Christ. Wow.

That's a dyna
mite fight for
basic cable TV viewers. That just created a lot of boxing fans. When you see guys earning millions of dollars per game/start in the big sports leagues and doing/caring nothing and then you see two guys like that you can't not like it.

Some divas fight twitter wars and give fans 101 why "big" fights won't happen. And some live fight to fight all on the line and leave happy fans on their feet.
Annnd +1cc to TR gal on the left ;D.

Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Brazilian Olympic Gold medalist Robson Conceicao getting some airtime here. Long frame and opponent here pretty undersized. Tick tock on this one
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Conceicao very composed, does a nice little rock back and forth with harsh uppercuts. Drops Gavino Guaman 3 times so far. Conceicao very hard 1-2s to body..and Guaman dropped again and fight waved after count in 3rd. Good looking fighter right here. But already at 30 yrs old needs to get busy

Are you getting the Top Rank commentators? This guy used to feign injuries so he could go to hospital and get gauze for his hand wraps. Or use bits of flip flops. One of nine kids. Pointless fight but obviously he's going to be a Lomachenko opponent eventually.

Really man? They caught him bad wraps and all? Flip flops I've never heard that. Yeh they were going on about a 'win' over Loma and questionable low blows etc.
Ramirez-Angulo ready to go. Love to see Ramirez and Benavides meet up! That ring is microscopic ;D
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Workman like Zurdo first and second. Falling over his own height and giving Angulo some opportunity in 3rd and gets tagged hard and backs off Angulo. Tiny ring may actually be a negative for Ramirez. Angulo pretty sneaky to counter
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
And this is why they don't fight on paper ;D. Seriously feels a matter of time before Angulo lands another short chopping right, Ramirez coming in behind nothing here.
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Left eye of Ramirez nicked up and Angulo keeps it slow and steady waiting for him to jump into a hard shot. Better 6th for Ramirez much more fluid.
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Angulo with another left hand brick backs Zurdo off. The challenger very calm in the middle of Ramirez combos. Ramirez seriously stuck between styles here.
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Angulo has power and Ramirez is affected by it enough not to be fighting his normal fight. Much less output because he's scared of leaving a hole. I have the feeling Angulo is going to time him and land something flush at some point.
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Redman being played in Oklahoma for a fight between a Mexican and Columbian. Shit I'm old. Ramirez is needing to work every second for this one. Angulo knows he can hurt him and like to see him let hands go in 11th and 12th. Can't see him taking these cards
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
12th and final. Angulo sent out for the KO by corner and Ramirez knows full well. Ramirez will feel this for sometime and Angulo making himself a face and had him stunned at least 3 times. Cards could be scattered but feels Ramirez wide.
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
How long is the decision going to take? Ramirez is going to win obviously. Shame Angulo couldn't time him.
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
119-109..120-108..119-109 ???. Ramirez gets it but FFS that doesn't reflect the fight at all. Can see 116-112 easily. Not sure Zurdo stays in with Benavidez.
Quality card. Apparently Lenny z announces retirement and well earned.

That is happening way to often unfortunately

Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Kenny came back from that kd the following round like a msn possessed and saucedo survived...missy falter I think. Great hearts shown by both. Ramirez Angulo scorecards were beyond stupid Gilberto 8 4 or 57 but nothing more

They have a lot of fights in Oklahoma and a large Mexican population in OKC. Alex is hugely popular in that community; three years ago he was constantly being recognized in public and signing autographs. In 2014 he fought on a card with Yori Boy Campos and the people behind Alex got out and sold 6000 tickets. I imagine that now, on the verge of a world title shot, it is crazy there. They did a ton of pre fight promotion in OKC and Ramirez was nowhere to be found. It was all Saucedo.
-
Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
The first fight was awesome. Unfortunately Lenny Z’s eye was completely shut and had blood covering his other eye. The fight would have probably been better if he could see. I don’t think that Saucedo will get to the top of the division, but he should be exciting to watch as he tries.
The Ramirez fight was boring. I have been going to bed earlier lately and was falling asleep halfway through the fight. I used to be more impressed by Ramirez, but now I don’t think that he is that great. I think he gets beat by a few guys at his weight.

Re: ESPN Ramirez v Angulo
Saucedo vs Lenny Z was a nice little surprise. That 4th round was brutal. Saucedo vs Hooker may turn out a fun fight.
Ramirez is a solid fighter, but nothing special. I think Benavidez and Jose Uzcategui beat him.

I think that Groves beats him too

Most definitely. Groves is #1 at 168 for me.

Thanks for that bud. Refreshing to hear a lesser known local guy forging his own way and making a big base. More so Saucedo putting in the honest effort and knowing value rolling forward. Hooker for me yet to show he functions great with forward two handed pressure but big fav off Flanigan fight. Still though Saucedo can take comfort zones and Hooker needs his comfort zone to shine.

Ramirez is frustrating. Feels like he's stagnated and Arum is playing him as some secondary. Possible Hart rematch will just bring him full circle.
