I'm not exactly sure, but that is his plan. Drop the WBC, and keep the IBF so he will still have options at 140, after the Collazo fight. That way if Cotto, Corrales, or Castillo open a fight before, say Floyd,Zab, or the winner of Gatti-Baldomir, he can go back down.

its the wba title, and i thought hes already dropped the ibf title for not fighting his mandatory.
btw i know it doesnt matter much, but is he still wbu champion. he held that belt for ages!!

I could be wrong, but I thought he forfeits the belt, because he is fighting at welter, and not taking the mandatory. If I'm wrong, please tell me Angel Eyes, because that's the impression I got. But, that may not be right.

Yeh, I think he's dropped the IBF for not fighting the mandatory - still got the WBA, but will drop that WHEN he beats Collazo!!

he dropped the ibf to avoid fighting rabah becus he didnt think it was the big fight he wanted also you dont have to defend the wbu title i dont think thts why his held it so long

Not sure how it happened, but the guy who put Hatton down once, Eamon Mcgee is now the WBU champ, not Hatton. Guessing he had to forfeit it.
