What a fight!!! I would love to have seen this fight somehow, IMO Chavez gets inside and hurts the Hawk with body shots on his way to a close decision win maybe late rd stoppage, what are your thoughts?

Aaron Pryor. Nothing ever hurt Aaron Pryor.
Finally! We agree on something! :)Quote:

But to tell you the truth, even without it, I think he would have beaten the much slower Chavez.
Your right Angel eyes Pryor was almost unstoppable, but I remember Pryor getting dropped by Dujuan Johnson and Akio Kameda of Japan, so pryor could be hurt. And Chavez was a tremendous body puncher with an incredible chin so if he could get to Pryor's body, I think Chavez may have possibly stopped Pryor, but I'm not saying that Chavez would win for sure, but thats what make this bout so intriguing, IMO a true dream superbout!!Quote:

I don't care about the black bottle incident
There could've been milkshake in that bottle and he still would've done the business
The guy was a machine
When people talk about pound 4 pound all time why is there never mention of Pryor ? Ive got the dvd with his fights on and ive not seen a better fighter EVER. He just kept coming at you, in the documentary Arguello says hes never been punched with 2 fists at the same time ! ;D
Would have been a great fight tho.
JC Chavez....nothing hurt Chavez either! JC would rock his ass!!! I mean Mel Taylor beat on him for 15 pretty full rounds and JCC didn't have a mark on him and Taylor was SWOLE all to hell....anyone who would stand toe to toe with JC would get KILLED
Whata fantastic fight this would have been.
I cannot think of many better historical matchups. It would have been a war much like Frazier/Quarry ("like two Mack trucks meeting in the centre of the ring")
I am much more familier with Chavez than Pryor, and will resist the temptation to call the fight based on knowledge of only one fighter. What a match up though .
It seems to me that the only thing that really ever hurt Aaron Pryor, was Aaron Pryor. The guy was more self destructive that Richard Pryor!Quote:

At 135lbs, I take JCC on a WU15
At 140, I take Pryor WS15
Didn't Kostya Tszyu fight him toe to toe? and won?Quote:

4. Aaron Pryor wouldn't get hit as much as Taylor did either.
If that was Aaron Pryor punching on JCC from rounds 1 to 5 like Taylor did, the fight would have been stopped or Chavez would have already been out!
JCC was great but he was certainly beatable, also pryor doesn't get credit for the boxer he was IMO in his prime Pryor was a better boxer and a brawler than JCC.
No Taylor wasn't a power puncher, but by the time Taylor fought Chavez he had learned to settle down on his punches more instead of blinding fast pity-pat punches, like Floyd has become more flat footed , plant his feet and really rip his punches, and I think your really stretching it with Pryor being a better boxer than Taylor, you'd get alot of arguements with that.Quote:
