Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Deontay Wilder is doing some commentary for BT Sports in Belfast and i just saw Shannon Briggs post his flight ticket pic online so he'll be there "Gatecrashing the party" as he put it - Could get interesting those two and Fury within meters of each other.
SHOWTIME BOXING INTERNATIONAL® will stream live exclusively to U.S. audiences on the SHOWTIME Boxing Facebook page and SHOWTIME Sports YouTube channel beginning at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT with an encore presentation later that evening on SHOWTIME EXTREME (10 p.m. ET/PT).
The August 18 event will be the network’s 24th live presentation of boxing through the first eight months of 2018. It will be the sixth live streaming boxing event of the year on SHOWTIME Sports social media platforms and the third from the United Kingdom as the network continues to deliver boxing’s biggest events from around the globe.
Former two-division champion Frampton will defend his interim WBO Featherweight Title against undefeated Australian contender Luke Jackson on the pitch at Windsor Park, where an expected 30,000 fans will witness the first boxing event at the home of Northern Irish football. In the opening bout, former IBF, WBA and WBO Heavyweight World Champion Fury will square off against two-time heavyweight title challenger Francesco Pianeta in Fury’s second comeback fight after a two-and-a-half year layoff.
Live coverage for the Frank Warren-promoted event will be provided by BT Sport with U.K. sportscasters John Rawling calling the action, Barry Jones providing analysis, and Ronald McIntosh conducting post-fight interviews for Fury-Pianeta. SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® host Brian Custer and Hall of Fame analyst Steve Farhood will deliver pre-and post-fight analysis from New York for the SHOWTIME Sports audience.
The 31-year-old Frampton (25-1, 14 KOs), who rolled back the years with an inspired performance to win the interim WBO belt against Nonito Donaire in April, will face the unbeaten Jackson as he looks to earn a second world title in one of boxing’s deepest divisions. With a victory, Frampton will target blockbuster showdowns with WBA World Champion Leo Santa Cruz, WBC World Champion Gary Russell Jr., and IBF World Champion Josh Warrington, all of whom have appeared on SHOWTIME platforms in 2018. The WBO’s interim champion is also in line to fight full titlist Oscar Valdez, who is recovering from surgery to repair a fractured jaw.
Jackson (16-0, 7 KOs) was the captain of the Australian boxing team at the 2012 London Olympics and has won 16 consecutive fights since turning pro in 2013. The 33-year-old is confident he can upset Frampton in front of his hometown fans and earn a title shot in the deep 126-pound division.
Fury (26-0, 19 KOs) returned to the ring in June with a victory over Sefer Seferi, an outmatched opponent who retired on his stool after four rounds. Southpaw Francesco Pianeta (35-4-1, 21 KOs) represents a significant step-up in opposition for the 29-year-old Manchester native.
Prior to his nearly three-year layoff, the 6-foot-9 Fury established himself as the premier heavyweight boxer in the world by becoming the first man to defeat Wladimir Klitschko in more than 11 years—and by taking the IBF, WBA and WBO world title belts from the Ukrainian great in the process.
Pianeta (35-4-1, 21 KOs), a 6-foot-5 southpaw who fights out of Germany, has twice challenged for the heavyweight world title. Pianeta faced then-unified champion Wladimir Klitschko in 2013 and lost in a bid for a secondary title against Ruslan Chagaev in 2015.
A win over Fury would could put the 33-year-old Italian native back in the heavyweight title picture.

Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Fury and Frampton are both 100/1 on. Looks weird in this day and age to have these big bills with main event mismatches. Paddy Barnes vs Rosales is alright but most likely to be a mismatch. And there's no decent domestic-type matchups.
Warren stuck in the dark ages.
Wilder-Fury playing WWE mouthing off will get more headlines than the boxing.
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
This is purely about the "event" and giving Frampton his hometown stadium fight he's always wanted more than competitive boxing, Frampton should win this with ease as Jackson has little power to bother him.
Decent move forward for Fury but he needs rounds in the bank and at 6ft 5 tall I'm hoping Pianeta can at least give it back physically and make him work for the win.
Can see Briggs making a complete cunt of himself and over doing the verbal trying to upstage Wilder.
On the whole I'm happy with Furys choice of opponent but Frampton is just a gimme on paper.
Poor card for a stadium fight but the Irish will love it nonetheless.

Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Pianeta was stopped by Kingpin-no punches-Johnson just a year ago, which is possibly the worst selling point for any fighter in the history of boxing. About a hundred years ago he had fits with the old human mudslide before the old boys zimmer frame buckled.
Hopefully this Fury-Wilder lark is real though and they don't constantly talk about Joshua and Wembley stadium.

Every other sentence will be teasing AJ and how he chickened out of the fight with Wilder, whether it is true or not.

Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
I think it's a sensible step by Fury after the last circus show shitfest but there's no way it's a bridge fight for a possible Wilder match.
According to his trainer Ben Davison he's had one week away from the gym In 8 months so should be fine fitness wise but are the reflexes and timing gonna be like they were 3 years ago if he dives straight in with Wilder who's a fast, fluid and unpredictable KO merchant?
Bottom line is he needs rounds and I think he'll be carrying Pianeta just to get them.
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
I don't think Fury needs rounds more like a highlight reel sparko which can be clipped all over social media to get the average sports/casual fan interested. If they wanted rounds they could have picked a million journeymen types who can fiddle their way through 12. Why is he not fighting Johnson who knocked Pianta out just last year? Pianta would be a waste of time for Dubois or Joyce let alone Fury. He's just taking the piss earning some easy dough.
Fighters today have the resources to get fit and sharpe long before fight night. This is a man who can pick any training camp, sparring partners and coaches in the world.
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
I do not think Fury/Warren thought they were going to get Wilder this early and had chosen Pianta as the next step up.
I think the opposition would improve over the year and he would get himself a title shot.
Fury can get himself in shape and stay there until he fights Wilder later this year. Tyson could pull this off and win the title. It is less of a challenge than beating Wlad in Germany, even with the 3 years out.
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
I don't think Warren has any control over Fury at all, Warren was adamant (at the presser before Furys last fight) that he would 100% take it slow and he needed 4 fights minimum just to get back in the mix and now talk of a Wilder fight after 1 "competitive" fight which might turn out to be another circus fight.
I've never known Warren to rush any of his fighters in the past 30 odd years.
Fury knows full well that Warren/BT were desperate for a face to spearhead the new tv deal and is clearly the one calling the shots in this deal.
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
I'm hearing that Fury v Wilder will be confirmed straight after Fury wins.
Wilder gets in the ring, both chat shit then Warren/Fury/Wilder cunt Hearn/AJ off with smug looks on their faces.
Already a done deal apparantley.

Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Anyone going for a cheeky tenner on Pianeta?
Think he's still 100-1

Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
The circus has arrived in Belfast and looks more staged than US Wrestling 😂

Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
FFS!!!! You've got Wilder shouting like a twat, Shaking Fury's Old Man's hand and then Fury Snr. realizes he's supposed to be nasty and shouting as loud as he can while getting "held back" by some 10 stone bloke. And then you've got Fury's opponent taking a fucking Selfie with Fury on the Stage! A FUCKING SELFIE!!!!
I hope Pianeta is getting good money to fucking sell his soul and any scraps of pride he had to join this pathetic fucking circus.
One thing I have to give Tyson massive credit for is his weight . another 18 lbs off since the Seferi circus. Who knows what damage he's done to his body and stamina ballooning up in weight , but he's certainly healthier than he was and that is one big positive regardless of what happens in the ring.
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
I'd bet my house that Pianeta has been told that under NO circumstances do you win this fight.
I've heard it's a done deal already Fury v Wilder.
We've still got Shannon Briggs in the house tomorrow night don't forget.
It's verging on a comedy sketch all this but it sells tickets.
Furys dad needs urgent acting lessons 😂

Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
I’m seriously beginning to worry that this sport is going down the line of WWE and sacrificing sport for light entertainment.
How many fights are we seeing where guys are being paid good money to NOT WIN? If anybody thinks I’m exaggerating, they’re being naive at best.
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Nobody apart from real fight fans and keen sports fans in general know who Wilder is and it's the same in the US, Wilder needs to be making as much noise as he possibly can as soon as he can because it simply makes his pay packet bigger.
The untapped "Average man on the street" market for Fury v Wilder is fucking MASSIVE right across the planet and you couldn't ask for two better characters/dance partners to hype the fuck out of their fight.
Let's not forget how fucking dull and boring the Heavyweight division was while the Klitschkos ruled for over a decade.
Sit back and enjoy the ride I say and by the looks of Fury and the way the weight is falling off him come December time he could well be in the shape of his life which makes it a real contest.
The build up for Fury v Wilder is gonna be insane and it's great for Boxing.
Anyone notice how UFC is dead publicity wise in recent years?
It's big characters like Wilder and Fury that grab the headlines.
Wonder what AJ makes of all this because within the next 12 months he's gonna have to fight one of these two guys, and the evidence is pretty conclusive that he's swerved Wilder already.
Some epic Heavyweight fights coming our way over the next few years...... that I'm absolutely sure of 😎

;D
After what happened in the week Saunders legging it is brilliant. However, fair play to the cunt, he was not only well outnumbered and hustled to the stairs but Wilder seemed a bit shocked when Saunders eyeballed him instead of bottling it.

The thing is BJS makes himself look a prick he would be better off fighting in the ring but
some people have NO class you can't polish a turd as they say.😊
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
This is pure pantomime and all set up between Saunders and Fury to Hype their fights.
Funny stuff 😁
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
He's gotta change his ring name to Billy "The Colonel" Saunders after this Chicken incident 😁
Potential KFC advert on his shorts could bring in some huge dollar $$ 😉
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Take back my comments earlier as I've only just seen the full video. Soon as Wilder stood up Saunders was on his toes and swerved it sharpish 😁
There's a new YouTube interview with Saunders (post Nandos) on IFLTV and he reckons he's firmed up with a load of Pikeys tonight at ringside if Wilder and his crew wanna mix it some more.
Don't forget Shannon Briggs is in town too....
I'm expecting a bonkers night in and out the ring.
Gotta feel sorry for Frampton who's having his homecoming dream stadium fight absolutely sidelined by Fury and Wilder.

Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Pianet was stopped from a body shot by kingpin Johnson last year, I think the signs point to pianet being well finished now, I think chagaev broke his spirit too he looked really upset after losing that one. I always thought pianet was pretty competent but now he's done, really should be an easy win for fury.
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Paddy Barnes v Cristofer Rosales for the wbc flyweight champion on now.
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Good round from both, close both did well but give it to Rosales who bossed the centre of the ring better.
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
I think I am about 2 or 3 minutes behind (which is a lifetime in boxing) If I watch it on SD I'm only about 1 minute/90 seconds behind I think but HD is miles behind even the SD stream
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Barnes does well in the 2nd round moving and landing big blows. It seems to confuse Rosales.
1 all
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Both went toe to toe in the 3rd which does not suit Barnes because he is not sharp enough close in.
2 -1 Rosales
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Rosales stops Barnes in 4th round with a brutal body shot. Over.
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
I thought that the other dude looked like he was going to stop the leprechaun, the paddy didn't look like he had enough power to hurt the other dude
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Rosales has been beaten by Yafai and Selby but he looked much improved and top draw.
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Evening ladies. Has Wilder caused an evacuation yet or has he just chickened out of being ringside altogether?
-
Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Ha! Wtf is Gazza thinking?

Not sure if the pun was intentional or not

Re: Frampton/Fury - BT Sports & Showtime 18/8/18
Wish I could watch guys, but no coverage here, plus I've got a trip to make.
Regardless, actually rooting for Pianeta NOT to upset the apple cart and play the part.
Fury-Wilder MUST be made so that AJ can get off that high and mighty throne and give people the fights they want.
