Death no one gets out alive
What are your thoughts on death. Sorry to get morbid but two young girls passed away at work in a few month span and it gets u thinking. I do beleive in something greater when we leave here. I know many feel it’s like a candle being snuffed out. What say You

Re: Death no one gets out alive
I've recently lost a few friends, typically things I don't bring up on this site as certain folk here have an attitude towards me where I don't feel like sharing such information because of what might be the response to that.
Death is a scary thing, but everyone has to do it. I guess it's a bit like sky diving for the first time only nobody that has done that before can come back and tell you what to expect. People worry quite a bit about it and hell self preservation is one of the main driving forces in the human spirit so obviously you're going to worry about death, but there's nothing you can do it's coming if not today some day in the future.
Might be morbid to look at it that way, but in order to live life to the fullest you have to appreciate the idea that you're on borrowed time as it is.

Re: Death no one gets out alive
That's why living and appreciating the 'now' is important. Focus on now, not the future or past.

Sorry to hear about your friends Ka Bong.

Thanks man. We all lose people close to us, it's important to take the time and let them know what they mean to you before it's too late. That said, you cannot live in fear of today being the last chance, you've got to live in the excitement of the moment you're blessed with.

Re: Death no one gets out alive
All to often 'life' gets in the way, wet don't get the chance to catch up with friends and family as we should.
Regret can be a hard thing. My partners mum past away a few years ago and we were planning to visit that very weekend, hadn't for quite a while. To this day I know she regrets not visiting more often.
It's not her fault, just the prison that life for the working class has become.

Re: Death no one gets out alive
Muhammad PBU. said "you should live in this world as if you are already dead"
so that's how I live and that's how I do all this silly shoot-from-the-hip stuff without fear of consequences

Re: Death no one gets out alive
Always had a hard time believing a person just 'ends'. Know what I mean. The mind heart and soul of an individual cannot simply be tethered to heartbeat. Death observed has to be a factor in how we perceive it upon ourselves? The eventuality of it and randomness can mess with you overthinking it. A 10 year old dies of cancer and a 90 year old dies when some drunk crosses into oncoming traffic. That's just messed up.

As long is death is like falling asleep I do not fear it. I have an impossible time falling asleep so I don't think it is going to happen for a while. But when it comes it will be relief. Like a lullaby.

Re: Death no one gets out alive
The worst part is likely the prelude to dying, but the dying itself, I don't think that is to be feared. Life itself is the suffering and if you can handle that, then what is death? It's an end to the suffering.

Re: Death no one gets out alive
It’s not that I’m scared of death, I’d just rather not be there when it happens

Re: Death no one gets out alive
When I was a kid I was hit by a drunk driver as I rode my bike. I went head first through his car windsheild broke all kinds of shit and lost most of my blood as I lay unconcois on the street. Anyway I had to be revived with the paddles. I had a near death experience that involved white lights and a voice telling me I could stay if I wanted to. It was very intense but I am not sure if it was an NDE or some kind of dream or my neurons firing strange cause I was knocked out. Damn ive only told a few people that. It was a very memorable calming experience that I don’t know what it really was. I still think of it on occasion

Re: Death no one gets out alive
By the way, that is a 100% true story

I’m not sure, it’s always a strange thing to tell people which is why I haven’t over the years but yes, when u say something is 100% true it does add doubt

When I was a kid my mate got hit by an oncoming doubledecker bus after tripping off the pavement, just happened to be closest to the road, he spent a while in hospital, had his leg chopped off then inevitably the machine turned off.
I still think of it on occasion. Funny old world.

Re: Death no one gets out alive
When I was a kid my friend got hit by a satellite that came hurtling out of the stratosphere while we were playing stickball. The satellite was so radioactive that it's simply cooked him right there while he was on the pitcher's mound. I didn't even get a chance to swing the bat.

Re: Death no one gets out alive
Near death moments and death of people you know certainly make you think about the afterlife.
Best to live for the moment and not dwell on your mortality.

it is so very hard because what is the moment? If you try to live in a moment for example a quick birthday party or a quick drink with a friend or a quick meal on the run you take a few bites or a few sips will you take a piece of birthday cake and as you're chewing it you are telling yourself to enjoy the moment but by the time you have chewed and swallow at the moment is already gone and there you are again standing in the silence knowing that that is one less moment that a person is going to have. The slowly filtering Sands down through The Hourglass are so painfully and acutely obvious as one gets older that is very very hard to get out of a constant state of restlessness knowing that we are just on a conveyor belt slowly moving towards the finality and the unknown

That is a morbid way to look at life.
Instead chew and savour every moment of the food.

Yes I know and I do. But those thoughts always sneak in

If it just ends then it just ends...what is a person going to do about it?
If it doesn't just end then it doesn't just end....what is a person to do about it?
All we can do is live the lives we are blessed to live today

Re: Death no one gets out alive
I agree with Brock. You have to accept the melancholy and there is nothing wrong or morbid and natural about it. It is genuine and real. To pretend all is fine and dandy is just self deception.

Re: Death no one gets out alive
unnatural. it is a normal feeling. healthy and good.

Re: Death no one gets out alive
Fear no more the heat o' the sun;
Nor the furious winter's rages,
Thou thy worldly task hast done,
Home art gone, and ta'en thy wages;
Golden lads and girls all must,
As chimney sweepers come to dust.
Fear no more the frown of the great,
Thou art past the tyrant's stroke:
Care no more to clothe and eat;
To thee the reed is as the oak:
The sceptre, learning, physic, must
All follow this, and come to dust.
Fear no more the lightning-flash,
Nor the all-dread thunder-stone;
Fear not slander, censure rash;
Thou hast finished joy and moan;
All lovers young, all lovers must
Consign to thee, and come to dust.
No exorciser harm thee!
Nor no witchcraft charm thee!
Ghost unlaid forbear thee!
Nothing ill come near thee!
Quiet consummation have;
And renowned be thy grave!

Re: Death no one gets out alive
I don’t know if it would be stranger if this life went on forever. I get very tired sometimes the immortal thing would be very strange and thinking about working forever is a horrible thought

If I was immortal I don't think I would be working. It would be a very strange place if everyone was immortal.

Ya I was thinking that but if we were immortal and everything else remained as it was ie paying bills, buying food etc we would need to do something

Yea there's a while lot to think about there.
Would we need food? What sort of immortality do we have? We can't die or like vampires need blood.

it true and what if u were in a horrible accident and left a vegetable. Or you were in one of those locked in comas where u are aware but can’t move or communicate. All the possibilities are quite frightening. When you look at it from certain points of view death does have its benefits

The ones who are afraid of this life are in the one group but the ones who are thinking about the next life or in the other group

Re: Death no one gets out alive
I suppose some deal could be struck where u work for a company for like a thousand years and then get an endless pension
