Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
So I guess this is very serious. They are trying to plan it for December.
My problem is that they are for sure going to make it PPV. I just can’t see anybody caring. Casual fans already complained how boring the first fight was and haven’t paid attention to really either of them much since their first fight. Real fans aren’t interested either because who cares.
Hopefully nobody is dumb enough to guarantee either of these fighters any sort of crazy money.
Honestly, I would watch it just because it’s boxing, but in no world would I ever pay for it. I know @Master would though

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
I have had such a good day so far and you tell me this news. :(
Total and utter wankers who are jokers.
Makes me sick.
This can not be true.
Tell me it is a lie.
This can not happen.
I refuse to believe it.

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
I hope it happens....not because I have any interest whatsoever in the fight but could you imagine the look on Amir Khans face when he reads the news.
It would be fucking hilarious, after chasing Floyd for 4 years he settles for Pac Man only for Floyd to come out of retirement and steal him away from him.
Queen Khan will need therapy to get over this.

Now that is funny and Khan has no excuse but to fight Brook.

That was my first thought too... It is pretty humourus

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
Sad about the fight. Floyd is washed up, he should stay away. But the Khan angle is funny.
-
Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
Floyd must be broke and gambled his money away. That angle is funny too.
-
Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
I'm not interested in this one.
But no doubt the American media will make a big deal of it, after ignoring far better match-ups like Usyk-Gassiev and Alvarez-Golovkin II.
-
Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
Hope this happens and sells about 3 ppvs....
I’ve heard Khan is now calling out Dimitry Salita for a rematch
-
Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
People are about to lay down basically $100 to watch a fight with a pampered drug cheat and the guy who already beat him tonight. Mayweather will manage to sell another flaming dumpster fire and the push of Manny 'remerging as a force' now with a strap will only fatten it up. I'll watch mma or College bowling before I watch a rematch, just as the first.
Doesn't say much about Manny, who legitimately can say he can meet other ACTIVE threating top notch welters.

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
Why would Floyd come back?

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
I’m sure money is the main factor. He lives an extremely extravagant life. You have to constantly make a lot of money to keep that up.
Also, he loves the spotlight and every year he is out of the ring is just more irrelevant he gets.
Pacquiao has been fighting it seems because that’s all he knows how to do. He wants to keep fighting and that why it seems that he avoids the top guys in the division. He is still a solid fighter and potentially still a top five welter. He just won’t fight top guys.

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
Batman has been on fire in this thread.
I don't want to see this either, December seems very close for them to set this all up.

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
Just on a practical level two months to set this up and promote it is not enough time. But who the hell would pay to see it? I think this is bollocks surely.
-
Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
Awful. But I think Pac gets his revenge and knocks Floyd out once and for all. I will watch it if it is on TV, but otherwise don't really care.
-
Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
Please stay retired.
The first fight was terrible.
-
Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
Floyd doing what he did with Pac 1 and with McGregor. Putting it out there, see if it’s got legs and then move things forward.
Please let’s not give this issue too much oxygen.
-
Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
I thought it was a joke. I’ll watch it on replay but even I wouldn’t ppv this. It’s doing the same thing expecting a different result

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
Sometimes headlines themselves say it all. I found this one quite fitting:
"Floyd Mayweather threatens Manny Pacquiao rematch in 2018"
;D

It should be Floyd tries to fool and fleece the public again.
Floyd should fight Canelo at middleweight or McGregor at MMA as I want to see him smashed.

I can understand wanting to see someone you don’t like lose a fair fight. But wanting to see someone hurt in an unfair fight is rather wicked.

That did not stop Floyd doing that to Conor.

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
How is this even a thing?
If Floyd is "coming back" here are the RELEVANT fighters available: GGG, Canelo, Charlo, Hurd, Crawford, Spence, Garcia, maybe Thurman depending on when the fight is made.
If it's someone outside of those guys I have 0 interest in the fight and the fight means 0 to me as a fan. Floyd vs Pac II would be like RJJ vs Toney II happening right now.

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
Hes a afraid of getting forgotten already and not seeing his name mentioned in boxing circles anymore. He wants to see how much stroke he has in the game by announcing it on the eve or day of a big fight. The first one sold 5 years too late, and now they're shopping an exponentially worse fight, because everyone's even older, pac's beaten a shell of old matthysse , and floyd's made himself a joke with that mcgregor fight and one of the best fighters in his stable got popped for fighting in the street.
Only chance this fight had at some dignity is if spence is fighting the winner or something. UN-retiring, especially more than once, makes you look like the drunk uncle that shows up uninvited at the family bbq...Trying to tell everyone how he did it back in the day with his @$$ hanging out of cooler. while digging for another beer.

Floyd will still make bank off of Pac's fans. They'll pay for literally anything Pac involved. This is absolutely no reason for this fight to happen.

Fanboys come out of the woodwork when celebrity fights like this come up.
Who is this guy?

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
Only good thing about this is that Khan has no excuse not to fight Brook now.
Won't be paying for it either.....or any other ppv for that matter. I've taken the plunge and got iptv now. £75 for the year. Brilliant quality. 8 PPV's between now and xmas is a pisstake...
Canelo - Golovkin 2
Joshua - Povetkin
Groves - Smith
Usyk - Bellew
Fury - Wilder
Frampton - Warrington
Whyte - Chisora 2
Mayweather - Pacquiao
Khan - Brook (maybe)
Absolute jokes. Makes me so angry that Sky and BT is so expensive yet the consumer is still expected to cover boxer's purses.

same here mate, I pay £8 a month for my IPTV (I find it easier to pay monthly than to find one lump sum)
Quote:
Here’s a breakdown of what UK fans can expect to pay BEFORE December:
Sky Sports subscription: 3 months (Basic package £40 per month) – £120 ($155)
Sky Sports Box Office: Joshua v Povetkin / Usyk v Bellew – £39.90 ($50)
BT Sport: 3 months subscription (HD package no EE Mobile £35 per month) – £105 ($135)
BT Sport Box Office: Frampton v Warrington / Wilder v Fury – £30 ($40)
**Note: Rumoured and based on two £15 events
ITV Box Office: Groves v Smith – £14.95 ($20) – add two more unconfirmed events from Season 2 – £44.85 ($57)
BoxNation: (3 months) – £36 ($46)
Total cost for all UK televised boxing: £375.75 ($485)
Through 2019, things may only get worse…
I don't mean to derail the thread but when I see that I thank god that I was recently introduced to IPTV, I think the Whyte v Parker fight was the first one that I used it for, already saved me an absolute bundle in PPV and subscriptions

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
I made a sarcastic comment at the start of this thread then disregarded it assuming it was all nonsense.
I’ve now just googled it and this circus actually looks more likely than not.
Unbelievable Jeff

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch
Whichever TV executive authorises this bout, as the money will come from their budget, needs locking up.
They gave Floyd a multi-million dollar contract and he has been spoilt by it, thinking he can con the public.
People have got to see through this charade.
