Great fight, hope it happens. Good on Whyte if he takes on a guy who could easily be ignored until heās just too old to compete. Hard to know what Ortiz will have left, pick em for me.
I'm the same.
This is 50-50 right down the middle and a more brutal tear up you could not wish for.
Gun to my head is favour Dillian purely as he's got youth on his side and is on a great run at the moment.
Being the first man to put Parker on his ass must have given him a shitload of self belief and I think he'll be working on his fitness and stamina even more after Parker nearly turning him over at the last hurdle.
This is a proper old school shoot out.
I do have a gut feeling that the Chisora rematch might still happen instead just because it makes way more money.
Hope I'm wrong as I love this fight š
Heās probably just giving Chisora a wake up call by responding to Ortiz, but nonetheless Iāve gotta give him credit.
He could easily take a stay busy in December, virtually knowing heās got a rematch with Joshua in April. So to take on either Chisora , who he had trouble with, or someone of Ortizās quality regardless of his age, is a pretty ballsy move.
Iām not that big on Whyte as a Boxer, and he can talk like a prick at times, but I massively respect his attitude.
So what happens if Ortiz up and upsets Whyte.... does he step in as WBO mandatory for AJ? Or does AJ skip Ortiz and move directly to Pulev/Fury?
I hope it happens.
Lots of heavyweights including Whyte have avoided Ortiz over the years.
But Luis is older now, and somewhat faded, so it's possible Whyte might man up and go through with it.
Doubt it
Very good matchup! Should be an exciting fight. I think Whyte is the hungrier fighter and should be more up for it. Ortiz has hit his limit and he's just going to be a fringe contender/acid test from now on.
I'll take Whyte TKO 8
Good fight. Whyte could even out jab the jabber. I like him by knockout.
Let's not forget that the "Old & faded" Ortiz had Wilder in massive trouble and was then stitched up by that mysterious extra 30 seconds recovery time Deontay was given
I think he would have finished Wilder off he wasn't given that full 90 seconds to clear his head.
Agreed. He also was up in the fight right until he ran out of gas for me. Lots of lesser fighters have caused Wilder problems and made him look bad, but I donāt remember anyone else flat out handling him. Its funny because if we based this on the way each guy looked against David Allen two years ago(they fought him Back to back) youād expect it to be dreadful:p
It's a good heavyweight fight, if they can get it done.
I'd pick Ortiz to take out Whyte.
It would be a ballsy move by Whyte to take this sort of risk, when the AJ rematch is within reach.
This fights hurts me.
My two fav HWs of now.
Wont be betting on this one. I wont be hoping for a winner either.
I was hoping they would find a separate way of challenging for a belt.
Fucking that!!
This is what every division should be like...top fighters taking risks and fighting the other top fighters.
Kudos to Dillian Whyte too, the public love him for the reasons above.
Chisora too... both throwback fighters.
I agree it's a good fight and am looking forward to it.
But it smacks as a bit hypocritical to be lauding Whyte for taking on Ortiz ahead of a possible rematch with Joshua, while Wilder was raked over the coals for fighting the same guy (who I might add was a bit "less old" at the time).
I think it's the best thing for Dillian... to stay active, it was supposed to be a Chisora fight but Hearn claims both are being difficult/bitching about money.
Either way both are tough fights that should give him alot of rounds.
There are many divisions where the best are fighting the best, unfortunately some fans focus on the likes of wwe trash talking, or outside the ring antics, or twitter fights, rather than talking about and watching really good fights.
Not sure what you're saying there Tito, most give Wilder huge credit for fighting Ortiz and consider it his best win.
Luis Ortiz Accepts Dillian Whyte's Offer To Fight on 12/22 in UK.

Not sure about "most", Alpha. I've read all kinds of stuff from Ortiz being on Depends, to him collecting Social Security, etc, etc.
It's obvious. If you're anti-Wilder, you'll disparage every single opponent he beats. Hell.... if he knocks out Fury, it'll be that Fury was never ready in the first place, blah, blah, blah.
I myself don't disparage Ortiz, seeing as to how he's been a historically avoided opponent. Also we all know that age in the heavyweights is less of a factor than in the lower weights.
That being said, I'm seeing Fury in a different light. I hated the Fury that together with Wlad provided us with the single most pathetic spectacle in the history of heavyweight championship boxing.
But I must admit if he comes to fight and uses all his skills.... it could be an interesting night. Not saying I think he'll beat Wilder..... but it probably won't be a 1st round KO.
Tough fight to call and much better than the rematch nobody really cares about between whyte and Chisora.
ortiz is a decade or two past it but still presents a hard fight for whyte who will likely be outboxed early.
he will have to finish strong and fighting at home guarantees he will get the decision even if he doesn't deserve it. The Parker fight was hard for whyte. He did something Joshua couldn't by dropping Parker but that first knockdown was from a headbutt and Parker fought dazed for the rest of the fight until he opened up in the 12th and almost finished whyte off.
youth should be th deciding factor here. The big fights have come too late for King Kong but he'll be dangerous from start to finish
Ortiz accepting the offer is meaningless, we knew he would. The question is will Whyte live up to his offer, for that I had 2 words days ago ādoubt itā
Whytes gone quiet since Ortiz accepted š¤
Total bullshit fight, a 40 years old on diabetes pills??? He should retire
Biggest myth in Boxing that Ortiz is this fearsome and avoided fighter. He was given 2 opportunities by Eddie Hearn to impress on Matchroom shows and build a profile for himself, but he stank the place out....twice. And then he got himself banned.
He was then given the opportunity to fight Joshua, but opted to fight Wilder instead....for less money and less belts.
As for Whyte, it would be a bad decision to fight him. Even if he beat him, he's still 2 years away from a shot at Wilder. He is highly ranked with the WBO and the WBA and is in position to earn a small fortune in a Joshua rematch. Don't know why he would want to risk a substantial future reward just to please a small number of hardcore boxing fans.
I totally agree the only reason he's any kind of a spoiler is because he is a southpaw and very tricky
