Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
For Fieldings WBA regular Super-Middleweight title.
Surprised?
-
Re: Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
Even worse than I was expecting, and GGG has to fight Charlo????
its a crazy game that we follow
-
Re: Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
This should cement Canelo as the absolute hands down greatest fighter EVER
:Sarcasm:
-
Re: Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
Good for Rocky Fielding - he'll receive a decent payday.
Not a bad stay-busy fight for Alvarez.
-
Re: Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
Canelo is challenging for a super-middleweight belt??
OMG.... what a surprise. Oh what a brave move by Canelo, going up in weight like that!!
Oh, I DO hope Canelo can go up to 168..... poor dear.
History in the making. Not only did he just get gifted steal win the middleweight belts..... now he's going after the dangerous, (cough) hard-hitting (choke) Fielding at super-middle.
Ohhh... I was so wrong about Canelo..... soooo wrong.....
(Psssst....... I noticed he's venturing out from the friendly confines of little Mexico Las Vegas for this one. They must be taking Fielding's chances "very seriously". )
Oh wait...... I feel a case of "Canelo legacy" coming on............ :LOS:

You kidding right? How does that make it a good fight?

1. Canelo just fought the best middleweight
2. Three months between fights is a good activity for pro boxers these days
3. Canelo is testing the waters at 168
4. Fielding isn't a bad fighter
5. Fielding has a world title at 168, so Canelo will have a chance to win a belt in yet another division
It's not a bad fight, as long as there is no catch weight (that would be a bitch move).

If you are happy with this then you must be genuinely ejaculating over GGG v Charlo

Re: Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
Wow! All of a sudden Canelo could be a 4 yes 4 weight World Champion . LMW , MW , SMW & Caneloweight!!
I don’t think anyone was expecting this, but as much as I think Oscar is a prick, as a promoter, he is a fucking genius.
First , he railroads the LMW division matching Canelo well enough to turn him into a superstar .
Then he wins titles at the weight above without even fighting at the weight limit really.
Then he avoids GGG and properly moving up to the MW division as long as he possibly can, and then times it to perfection as GGG is going over the hill just enough so that it can be competitive enough for the fix to be on without too big a fuss.
Then he performs the magic trick of influencing the whole boxing world to the extent that his drug cheat barely gets a ban and stays the biggest star of the sport with the standout MW of the last few years BEGGING to be fucked over by him in every sense.
And now, he gives Canelo a little opportunity to not worry too much about weight, meaning he can have a break from the PEDS and he can pick up a World Title at yet another weight, giving Oscar the ammunition to laud Canelo as one of the greatest Boxers of all time because he’ll be a 3 weight champion , yadda, yadda.
Honestly , it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if they had an agreement for a catchweight of 164lb just to make certain Rocky doesn’t have a fucking chance because he has to boil down.
How do the governing bodies let them get away with it?
If I was high in the rankings for the belt Fielding has, I would be fucking fuming.
-
Re: Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
I would much rather him stay at MW and fight Lemieux. This is the same old garbage he has been doing his entire career. He will be jumping weights to avoid the best fighters and only fight good fighters on his timetable. I wouldn’t be shocked if the MW division is looking a little too stacked at the moment and he decides to stay at Caneloweight and fight some super MWs.
-
Re: Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
But Lemieux isn’t a good fighter so what’s the difference?
I think we can expect him to fight someone good in May.
-
Re: Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
So BJS easily beats Lemieux and has a world title but still can’t get the Canelo fight?!..but Canelo will probably fight david next?!
And Charlo has to fight GGG and he’s the wbc mandatory?!
Golden boy runs boxing and Canelo is the Golden nugget.

If he beats Fielding , he’ll probably defend his SMW Title against the DeGale / Eubank winner , because he probably feels that GGG will either lose to Charlo or not fight him. That means he won’t be able to fight Canelo in May.
So fighting one of those 2, (one past it, the other never been up to it), would be a far better risk/reward option than any other MW bar GGG.

Golden Boy doesn't run boxing. Who do they have besides Alvarez?
Hearn and Arum are much bigger promoters, and Haymon is still the most powerful manager.

The only part I don't agree with on this post is that there are usually 3 yaddas instead of two.

Because he has proven to bounce around weight to avoid the best fights until the right time for him comes along. I don’t trust that he will fight Fielding and then just come to MW in May and fight one of the top contenders.

True. I just don’t care much about Canelo. I don’t think he ever showed himself to be the best at 154 and I don’t expect him to show himself to be the best at 160. I think there are fighters in the sport and celebrities in the sport. Canelo is a celebrity. That isn’t to say he won’t take hard fights, his CV is nothing to sneeze at. Just, he is very carefully managed.
I just personally care far more about Saunders, Jacobs, Derevyanchenko, GGG, Charlo. My bias is that celebrities don’t interest me. Let Canelo do his red carpet routine, I don’t watch the Oscars. I watch fighters and am interested in fighters. The Oscars just don’t affect me even if millions tune in.

Re: Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
Don't see why clenelo needs oscar.. he's simply shadowing mayweathers career and could be making these moves by himself. Go up (catchweight for floyd to fight alvarez) find a greenie or a soft touch for a strap... This also probably a test of the UK waters to see if he can be profitable on DAZN before he signs with showtime.. seeing as hes a fighter without a home now that hbo pulled out of he boxing business. Cant see him signing with PBC or rocnation because he'll hardly ever fight and they cant afford him.
Unless he plans on staying up there to avoid the 160lb fighters (charlos, jacobs, GGG again, Andrade, BJS, etc). Whos really causing a panic at 168? besides Ramirez? Groves just got kod by a body shot, degales shot, Badou Jack is inconsistent, Eubank isn't really the goods, the dirrells are shot, Benevidez? Doubt ward can make 168 again .

Benavidez is tough at 168, Smith just beat the #1 guy, Ramirez hasn't been impressive but would be a nice scalp. Some of those guys you mentioned could be looked at as easy money fights (DeGale/ Eubank winner for example).
I think it was Ron who said in another thread that Canelo giving up the title makes no sense, what do you think now? Canelo and GBP won't be dictated to. Which is the very reason the WBC ordered GGG/ Charlo, because they didn't want to upset the apple cart and have Canelo walk away again.
I think Canelo stays at 168, it's not as dangerous as 160 and he can make good money against guys that the public will begrudgingly accept.
-
Re: Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
Doubt Canelo would take it, but obviously Callum Smith would be a massive test and the fight has a good story behind it what with him having beaten his brother.
-
Re: Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
Will add I haven’t actually seen Fielding fight, so I can’t comment on what I think of this move. As has been said, it’ll depend on what he does afterwards. It is true that fighting 3 months after the Ggg fight isn’t bad, he could have just waited 6 to fight period.

Good point on the storyline, it's probably the best fight that could be made at 168. Benavidez could also make waves with a bit of building.
Poor WBC, granted Canelo a voluntary and he basically played them.

Re: Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
Oh trust me Clenelo ~NEEDS~ Oscar.
Heh heh,.... "Clenelo", fuck.....
He'll never live that down.

Re: Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
Well this is unexpected :S.... I find this more interesting than a fight v lemieux. . It was already established that the promoters wanted another Canelo ppv this year and Saunders, deverechenko and charlo (convieniently) are al busy just now :as...it's for th fake wba title which makes it a bit gay and I won't recognize this as an actual 3rd weight class title win.but wot ever at least it isn't v lemieux who golovkin stopped and Saunders made look cap. .... they'll definently wait and see how golovkin charlo goes and could well just dodge middleweight, wouldn't be surprised if alvarez fights zurdo next year.

Canelo Alvarez moving up to 168 to face Rocky Fielding on Dec. 15 at Madison Square Garden
https://s.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/Kc...9fe0f0dacab9e6
Fresh off a career-defining victory over Gennady Golovkin on Sept. 15, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez isn’t wasting time attempting add to his fight legacy.
Alvarez and Golden Boy Promotions announced Friday afternoon that he’ll be moving up to 168 pounds to vie for Rocky Fielding’s WBA super middleweight championship on Dec. 15 at Madison Square Garden.
From his tweet alone, “Canelo” can’t wait.
“I'm very excited to announce my next fight — December 15th at the New York MSG,” Alvarez tweeted, as translated to English from Spanish. “Taking a big challenge more in my career and representing the WBC as 160-pound champion, now I will fight for the world title for 168 pounds versus Rocky Fielding, current WBA champion!”
After Alavrez defeated “GGG” via a majority decision last month to earn the 50th win of his career, Oscar De La Hoya announced the new WBA (super), WBC, The Ring and lineal middleweight champion’s intentions of working in an additional fight before 2018 ends.
And now, we see that Alvarez plans to head into the New Year with some new hardware in tow.
As excited as Alvarez was to announce the Dec. 15 fight, Fielding was downright ecstatic, considering he’ll get to face boxing’s biggest draw in the sports’ mecca and cash in on what will sure to be his largest payday to date.
https://twitter.com/Rocky87Fielding/...107840/photo/1
The 28-year-old Alvarez will enter the bout with a 50-1-2 (34 KOs) record, while Fielding stands at 27-1 with 15 knockouts.
As of now, there isn’t a confirmed, official word as to which network will broadcast the fight.

Re: Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
Some people are saying things that don’t make sense. Canelo absolutely isn’t going to DAZN as it is subscription, they don’t have the PPV platform. And PBC doesn’t have enough money? 1)that doesn’t matter because he will go to the largest PPV platform which PBC is already in bed with and 2)PBC has the largest actual boxing budget by far. For example 5 times that of DAZN for 2019
We all have our biases, but let’s take an objective look. GGG was considered a take all comers guy. At the same age GGG fought
Milton Nunez
Nilsson Julio Tapia
Kissim Ouma
Lajuan Simon
Makoto Fuchigami
Grzegorz Proska
Gabriel Rosado
Nobuhiro Ishida
From 28-32. There are obviously reasons behind that but let’s just keep it to who they fought/will fight. Does anyone really want to tie their name to saying Canelo will fight a list of opponents that weak?
People have good reason to hate Canelo but I can say with absolute confidence in the next 4 years Canelo will fight better opponents than that.

Good old Ronnie baby, making the “stats” work in favour of his argument as usual. Now Canelo’s opponents will be better in the “28-32” bracket. But GGG had only been a pro for 4 years at 28.
Now Canelo’s opponents after 4 years as a pro reads:
Antonio_Fitch
Euri Gonzales
Michel Rosales
Jefferson Gonçalo
Murat Khuzeev
Carlos Herrera
Lanardo Tyner
Doesn’t quite tell the same story does it ?

So you’re comparing a child with a 28 year old man and you think you are the one being fair? 😂
Okay, let’s put this a different way even though it is clearly slanted in your favor with GGG being at the end and Canelo just entering his prime. Who has fought better opposition in total?

uh, no, I wasn’t comparing anyone with anyone. I was merely showing how you can make stats work in your favour .
“ Okay, let’s put this a different way even though it is clearly slanted in your favor with GGG being at the end and Canelo just entering his prime. Who has fought better opposition in total?”
Canelo...... but it has to be said that nearly every single fight (bar Floyd) was on his terms. Shane when he was old, Matthew Hatton for a title and sooooooo many fighters that had to boil down to his desired catchweight , and fighting guys that are small at the weight and so on and so forth.
Look , Canelo shouldn’t have even be fighting cos he’s a drug cheat. GGG is a cock because he went from “wanting all the belts” to begging somebody for a fight who didn’t have a belt. He deserved what he got.
I couldn’t give a flying fuck for either of them anymore if I’m honest.
Canelo should be banned and GGG should retire.
-
Re: Canelo vs Fielding Dec-15
Actually Triple G should be banned and Canelo should retire

A child??
Listen.
If Canelo was old enough to begin putting "W"'s in his professional record, regardless of whether they were taxicab drivers or bartenders from his neighborhood, he's old enough to have his record compared after the same years of being pro.

“ So you’re comparing a child with a 28 year old man and you think you are the one being fair? 😂“
uh, no, I wasn’t comparing anyone with anyone. I was merely showing how you can make stats work in your favour .

Good post, Canelo has fought the better opposition overall, but how many of those top opponents did he beat convincingly? Trout, Lara, both GGG fights, the loss to Floyd etc.

So you agree Canelo will fight better fighters which was the point

A child??
Listen.
If Canelo was old enough to begin putting "W"'s in his professional record, regardless of whether they were taxicab drivers or bartenders from his neighborhood, he's old enough to have his record compared after the same years of being pro.
Shocked that you want to stack the deck against him, shocked.
I don’t like Canelo either but you go way way way too far with it.
