The United States of America
I was born in Bridgeport Connecticut in 1963. However since the age of 1 I lived in New Jersey and New York.
United States always seems like home to me until I went abroad until I saw normal, civil, caring, presentable people and saw what normal natural and healthy food is. What does everybody here think of the United States of America? I know the Americans are going to chant red white and blue until we want to stick a sock in their mouth. I personally am American but I will never chant red white and blue. So the question is for everybody out there reading this thread do you get the impression that there's something really really wrong with America and American society given all of the mass shootings and Incredibly High astronomically High rate of divorce and childhood obesity and childhood diabetes and school shootings and astronomically High rate of mental illnesses?
The rest of the world is being brainwashed by the American system which is transmitted through Hollywood and MTV and still people are dying to try to come here. I don't know why they're dying to try to come here. Does anybody know why?

Re: The United States of America
oh yeah Jim this is really dark but what you post on the hate crime in the UK friend that's not trolling at all is it. And what Lyle posts tell me he's not trying to get a rise out of the British on the form. Yet I'm the dark one. Give me a break. You troll a lot more than I do. Bean's just called you out for a 90-page thread in which you're constantly trolling @Beanz

Oh so u try to use my bff beaner as a source. Iβll have u know he and I have like 7 truces. Nice try, I donβt buy it and no one else here does

Re: The United States of America
The reason people want to go to America is because as you can see with India there is incredible poverty and open defacation. Now admittedly parts of America are similar but on the whole, you do have toilets and reasonable paying low level jobs and very plentiful cheap food. It's the same for the Poles going to the UK or the Filipino nurses in the NHS. They go where the money is.
If I could work in a supermarket for the equivalent of 30 dollars an hour I would take it in a heartbeat. It makes sense. The difference is I cannot go anywhere to do that or make that relatively speaking. Even doing what me and Brock do here we need degrees and it is temporary contracts. You cannot just go and work in a shop in a super rich country. Spouses married to Chinese cannot even get a job. Just shocking.
A couple of times in the UK I was in a counter situation and the cashier could not speak English. How are they even getting employed? Quite bizarre. But compared to back in Poland or whatever and it is a small fortune to have a low level British job.
My conclusion is money. The working classes were sold out through shipping off manufacturing then with open borders lost their service jobs as well. Very uncool. It is their country, but the left simply did not care.

I'm not trying to get a "rise" out of anyone in any of the threads I post in. I'd like conversation, I'd like a little feedback as to what is happening over there and opinions vary.
To me....

That's bullshit...I'm not saying that elsewhere in the world people aren't civil, caring, presentable, and I'm not saying that elsewhere doesn't have normal natural healthy food.....what I AM saying is that if you couldn't find those things in America then you're either not looking hard enough (doesn't take much effort really) or you've got a skewed view of America.

To be fair he was attacked tonight. That would have been far less likely in Tokyo. The drugs and violence and broken homes have caused deep problems.

There's crime everywhere....in Tokyo is more homogeneous than The United States....:scratchchin: I wonder if that has anything to do with it :-X

It was toilet Pasha and Enver who carried that out. The general Turkish population lived side-by-side with the Armenian population for 800 years and peace and harmony for the most part

Yeah...well Americans haven't genocided Armenians but yet you choose to stir the turd and say there's no hospitality in the US, nothing good here.
Now just the other day you tried to assure me that you're not a troll and that you're very light hearted....well some folks, some AMERICAN folks are proud of how they treat their neighbors and they are helpful and kind and generous etc.
Do you want yet another flame war thread? Do you want to go back to the old days of constant fighting? I mean I'll take you at your word (whichever word it is you choose to stand by at the time) about what you say and I'll get in the trenches with this stuff or you know you could chill out with the trolling.....totally up to you.

Re: The United States of America
@Beanz, two things have just happened right here in this thread. The first one is that Lyle would love to go fishing in so many threads EVEN STARTING ONE TITLED "BEANZ, IS THIS OKAY?!" ....but doesn't like it if I say something negative about America. The second thing that happened is that walrus who just admitted that we had a kind of a truce just decided to pile on the bandwagon with Lyle against me. And I had a really good exchange the other day through private messages with one of them. So I thought the Vibes were pretty good, we even made a joke about Razzing him and he responded how is that working out for you. But here he has bared his teeth and I don't know why he has now shifted the vibration of it as I said nothing about him at all in any way
as for walrus I have just said many good things about him on several different threads yet now he wants to pile on the bandwagon with Lyle.
wait let me guess was it my joke in the referral to a smoking jacket the other day that perhaps he has just come across? I even messaged the guy telling him that I was just joking whenever I think that I have gone a little too close to the Bone in a personal way
YYYYYYYYYEAH, the KEY WORD THERE BEING PERSONAL AS THAT IS THE ONLY THING WE SHOULD REALLY WORRY ABOUT HERE.
But when a person is so defensively patriotic or patriotically defensive to take the attitude that Lyle has taken in his above post well and right there you just know right there and then you just know and you can see it and feel it that that person is Prickly as a pair and could also have the nickname of porcupine.

It is astonishing after 97 pages of far more offensive stuff about England. They fucking hate and rag on England, virtually EVERY single day ;D

Thing I don't get is I didn't say anything personal to Lyle or Walrus I just said that in my experience so many cultures in the Middle East and Asia are far more civil and Hospitable than the American culture and that has really set him off. I thought we had freedom of speech FFS

Never been the case here. The real mods are not those handing out bans but those drowning out the voices of anyone else. The last word, right of no reply, can dish it out but can't take it crew ;D

I don't hate ENGLAND....I just find ridiculous things happening in England and post on them. You yourself called the last one "ludicrous" yes I agree, it's why I posted it.
I do the same with America, that "Everything wrong with the left" is pretty much all American stuff.

Re: The United States of America
You see the thing Lyle is when I talk about Civility and Hospitality I'm not confining it to the left or to the right I'm not talking about political stuff I'm just talking about in general and then again it's based only on my experiences. Now I have lived 11 years out of the United States was quite a long time I am willing to bet that is longer than any other American on the form or at least close to it. I can seriously tell you that I found it far more hospitable and all the countries I lived in outside of the US. That doesn't mean that you Lyle would be inhospitable I was just talking about in general

OK brock
"until I went abroad until I saw normal, civil, caring, presentable people and saw what normal natural and healthy food is."
Because that's not available in the United States......where YOU were, of course
"do you get the impression that there's something really really wrong with America and American society given all of the mass shootings and Incredibly High astronomically High rate of divorce and childhood obesity and childhood diabetes and school shootings and astronomically High rate of mental illnesses?"
Yup none of that stuff happens OUTSIDE the United States.....where YOU were, of course
"I don't know why they're dying to try to come here."
....where YOU are, of course
"I know the Americans are going to chant red white and blue until we want to stick a sock in their mouth."
We who? brock? You going to attempt to stick a sock in my mouth? Or is that just you know a general expression and not meant for anyone specifically?
-
Re: The United States of America
damn Lyle your first two points were weak bit that last one was the worst. When did I say anything about you personally? I think you're reading too much into it.
Also taking literally the expression to put a sock in it that's also a bit disingenuous isn't it. Do you really think it means to take a literal sock and actually put it in someone's mouth? Sheesh
also now to your unsound syllogism on the first two points now let's get to that. Just because there are obese and diabetic children in other countries doesn't in any way nullify or even detract in the slightest from my point that the United States is the king of childhood diabetes and autism and childhood obesity and that was really the main point Lyle but rather than get the main point you want to try to say that I said it did not exist at all outside of the US

Oh I'm supposed to impress you?
So you've NEVER met anyone kind, civil, caring until you went elsewhere? Ok then
You NEVER lived in a place with ANY problems? Ok then
You don't know why people risk life and limb to get here? Ok then
WE who??
It got personal because I'd chant USA until you want to "jam a sock" in someone's mouth....BUT if you didn't mean it for me then who are you talking to?

1. Who said you're supposed to impress me? Where do you get that from? ππππ²π²
2. I met a FAR, FAR higher percentage of civil, decent, sincere people OUTSIDE the US, yes.
You want to make a very big poo-poo of words like "NEVER" and "ANY" and you'll miss (and you did) the gist of it...... Still doesn't negate MY experiences/observations during my 11+ years outside the US.
3. So just because someone wants someone else to cease and desist from a certain action doesn't mean they should physically stick a physical sock literally in someone's mouth, but now suddenly you, the Weisenheimer of All Time want to do what Chris Cuomo does and take it literally. Idioms are unthinkable for Lyle when it suits.
4. Go ahead Lyle, keep taking it personally, even when I don't mention you at all.

Re: The United States of America
In defense of Brock I would say that I would prefer to live in Tokyo rather than New York which is where he is. One is that he would be very unlikely to be attacked finishing a teaching stint there. Secondly the infrastructure is much better. And thirdly you can rent pretty cheaply there. Oh, and finally the women are just really hot. Very little obesity.
In saying that the Americans I know are generally some of the nicest people I have met and I find it very easy to talk to them. With a Brit there is always a dark edge and I know I have that in myself too. I guess also though that I only meet educated and intelligent American people who probably do not represent the entire country.
I think if Brock would give living somewhere else in America a chance he might feel differently. When you are caught up in big cities, have a busy schedule, and are stressed out it isn't just you going through that, it is EVERYBODY! Well everyone else working hard who isn't on welfare anyway and it makes people surly and miserable. New York is famous for that attitude, but how much of that is true I do not know.

Well miles we must keep things in perspective. Brock talks about how nasty people are, he is very nasty himself, thank you. Foreigners prob overhear him and talk about how fucked up Americans are
