Almost assaulted tonight in Flatbush, Brooklyn NYC

I exited my ESL gig at 8:30 p.m. on Church Ave. and Flatbush Ave. I got a new part-time job there, rough area, I got tons of experience in these neighborhoods but this place is beyond special.

Two tall dudes about 40 yrs old shoulder me as I stepped up on the curb, spins me around, first guy grabs my elbow, second guy smashes a whiskey bottle to the ground, liquid is flowing everywhere, and he yells " motherfucker you just broke my bottle!". I said " you dudes slammed into ME!" I THEN pull out if first guy's grip and he says "you gotta pay my friend for that booze bitch! You knocked it out his hand, bitch"

I said " hell no! WTF?! You guys did it, or if was an accident". They said "look at this shit, $120 bottle of VSOP" ..... I SAID "I DON'T PLAY THIS SHIT, I GOT NOTHING ANYWAY, BROKE AS ALL HELL"

first guy gets down on his hands and knees and lunges at me, I jumped right, hit myself into a railing, and the 2nd guy says to the first "fuck that shit, hold up, he gotta pay", I took 3 steps into the traffic, luckily nothing was coming, and the first guy said " don't blow smoke up my ass, I can't bring this back to the liquor store and say it was an accident", so I crossed the street and got THE FUCK OUT OF THERE, WALKED TO THE Q TRAIN, KEPT LOOKING BACK FOR A FEW BLOCKS.

FUCK.

Most of them here learn martial arts as kids and they tend to dominate such events at the Olympics. They would snap you in two. However, in saying that I feel safe at all times as it is a safe society. Brock will back that up. You never know when you might get into trouble though and should be ready to defend yourself. You don't want to draw blood and so a defensive strategy is better from a legal standpoint. Brock is getting older and though he could take on a post peak GGG he would likely struggle with a couple of 250 pound crack heads. Temporarily blinded he would likely get away.

Thx all. First time I felt scared in a long time. Two against one, tall guys both 6 foot 2 or so, I'm about 5 foot 6, only thing kept me from really panicking was that they were about 45 years old, and high or drunk. Good point Fenster. the thing was when he got down on his hands and knees and lunged at me he was almost directly behind me so by the time that I spun over 90° to try to face him, he had already grabbed one of my ankles with his fingers and I spun out of it and smacked my back into a metal railing along the curb side as I was off-balance from that spin. I also strained my left calf muscle in the process but didn't realize it at the time

He then jumped back up and walked away from me. Throwing the Susie Q would have been tough at that moment 😁

I had just come out of a 45-minute demo in front of a class of 32 West Africans and Haitians, at CAMBA Community Development Center at the corner of Church Avenue and Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn.

I think the guy who deliberately smashed the Bottle Into The Ground was trying to imply that by him and I knocking into each other that I had broken his expensive bottle of liquor that I should reimburse him for it. Indeed there was a lot of liquid pouring out of the bag and shards of glass everywhere.

You know you could be right because the guy was on his hands and knees also acting like he was at a funeral looking down into his black plastic bag which supposedly contained a VSOP bottle of liquor. I think this is a kind of scam where he is carrying around a broken bottle of liquor for weeks, and he must have a second bottle in the bag filled with water and when she smashes into the ground he shows the other bottle of VSOP as if it has just broken and then demands reimbursement for it

Of every crime that happened recently or through the year from petit larceny to murder at each block of the street, you can zoom to the exact block that you wanna visit. Murder is up, rape and assault are WAY up from 2012, which was itself the most violent year since 1995. From my perspective it ain't good. Trains arent safe at night, I took the Q train after this incident and it was really scary and I've taken just about every Subway in New York City in all five boroughs.... If you're only visiting not moving there, I'll say better look for bedstuy, crown heights ....

Yeah there was definitely a drenalin it happened so damn fast those guys were watching me from across the street. There was a covered area where there was construction next to a cemetery and it was a big canopy and really dark over there and no street lights.

There are about 30 or 40 of us in the crosswalk waiting for the light to change it was a long light crossing over Church Avenue. When I got to the other side of the street most of the people turn right but I continued. Over towards the canopy area and that's when they hit me, like linebackers, shouldered me, one into my right shoulder, the other into my left lower abdomen, fucking spun me it did, but I didn't lose my balance.

Miles we once had some knob from Moss Side come into a pub on the estate that I grew up on boasting about how hard his manor was. He went to use the bog and someone put a broken bottle in his neck and then stabbed him. I remember the file going across my desk. Most of the class A drug violence down here was from gangs who moved down from Manchester and Liverpool thinking we were a soft touch. I have been robbed and burgled several times, until we could afford our own place I lived in tower blocks and some right shit holes, including a tent in the woods. When I lived in a shared house we were robbed once and when we found the guy who did it, someone kicked his door in and he pulled a gun out. He soon fucked off back to London and nobody was shot, because he was all mouth and no trousers. I have lived and worked in London, Milan etc. You get violence everywhere. My step-son started working nights in a wharehouse in his late teens and still does now at nearly 30. Not once has he moaned about getting on a bus in a rough spot or an industrial estate early hours of the morning.

Nobody is saying you should not use common sense but I learned very early how to defend myself and fight, having a psychopathic ex-marine step dad, an older brother, cousins etc and plenty others who wanted to have a pop. Have not thrown a punch in anger since my mid twenties and am glad to have it behind me.
