Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Pretty solid main event with talented speed merchant wba 154 champ (one of them) Brian Carlos Castano 15-0 (11) looking to make a statement against ex wba 154 champ (another one) 25-3-2 (14). Lara is coming in off a brutal war with wba champ Jarrett Hurd (he's the 'super' one) and will be facing a much different style in Castano. Outside of some amatuer opposition a sizable step up for Castano. Truth be told outside of Hurd same can be said of Lara recently. I like Castano close.
Also Luis Ortiz continues his rebuild to another major fight taking on Christian Hammer. Featherweight Bryan De Garcia 24-1-1 out of Panama makes his U.S debut v Eduardo Ramirez 21-1-3 (8 ). Barclays is seeing some consistent action.

Sucks Ortiz is a cheat, dude is right there with the very best in the division. But they can steer clear until he is just too old. Would love to see him beat the snot out of Povetkin but Povetkin wants none of that smoke.

He'll always have that knock against him, but feels like Ortiz has been called old for a few years now and you can't argue with the date of birth. But he was on the brink with Wilder. An impressive ko tonight he'll have done pretty well to get back with better activity level and weight..slightly with weight.

Ready for some non-DAZN boxing. ;) ;D

Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Good to see a Panamanian up there.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Yes I quite like the wall shaking while enjoying my nightly fisticuffs ;D. First time seeing De Gracia. Has some odd stiff upper body movement.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Not much happening so far between De Gracia and Ramirez. De Gracias hasn't found the range and has missed all sorts of right hands.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Ramirez winning the fight so far for me. He seemed a lot more accurate in that last round, while De Gracia continues to miss badly and often.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Ok so it seems like DeGracia woke up. Had a much better round and won it IMO.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
De Gracia feels increasingly desperate and trying to do too many things at once. Ramirez isn't just touching him often but leaving him in lurches. Finally stands Ramirez still with that right to end 5th good exchange!
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Mauro Ranallo with the built in network plug :p. Better 6th for De Gracia.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Pattern continues. De Gracia charging forward but missing a lot. Ramirez moving an awful lot. I have a similar scorecard as Farhood..... probably De Gracia up by a round right now.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Is there any actual evidence or proper suspicions that ortiz is way older than he claims other than him just looking pretty old..
Also what sites host most of the streams these days, what replaced wiziwig/myp2p?

Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Cute line by Paulie: "What technique?" ;D
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
If Ramirez had some pop this might be much different but he's getting caught in some mixes in 8th. Paulie..'what technique' ;D. Tough round to score.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Man De Gracia moves like he's wearing :o Ohh what a shot
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
And just like that............. the fight's over. De Gracia gets rocked and Ramirez jumps in like a piranha. Ref stops the fight.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Ok Ramirez has pop ;D. That was a wicked few shots, De Gracia was out on his feet! Brutal uppercut!
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Paulie said what many were probably thinking, he did him a favor he moves up he gets canned.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
De Gracia had actually gotten in some good shots earlier in the round. Sometimes I think a standing 8-count would be appropriate. Maybe if De Gracia had gone down, he probably would've lasted the round.

Yeah. Too many technical flaws to be able to move up. One thing that stood out was how he was always punching out of range, missing a great deal. Some of it was Ramirez moving back..... but a lot of it was De Gracia swinging his punches while keeping his upper body upright or even leaning back. You'll never reach the opponent punching like that.

Definitely, not the best term but clunky and mechanical kept coming to mind. He moved like he had to think about it first and Ramirez just made it work against him for the finish.
Was interested in the Wu Tang doc before Raekwon called Canelo his favorite boxer ;D

Didn't want to be the first to say it. ;D

Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Well..... the first fight was entertaining. This one should be too. King Kong vs. The Hammer.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Ortiz looks like he's been working the shoulders with weights. Or eating steaks :scratchchin:. Hammer needs one.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Gonna go out on a limb and say it probably won't last 10 rounds. ;D
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Sharp round from Ortiz, lots of in and out. Hammer staying close
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Oh need a replay on that! Knees of Ortiz dipped off Hammer punch, Hammer walking in looking to counter. Sure looked like a glove touch KD
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Evening chaps. Doesn't look like Hammer is going to last very long.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Fun 2nd! Replay doesn't show what made Ortiz touch glove, no punch or push???. Hammer hurt bad in the body later in round.

As if to make me look bad, the 3rd slowed down to a comparative crawl. ;D

Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Have to love that power jab of Ortiz. One of the better in division. Hammer really sitting down on that counter right hand and getting a few in as he goes back.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Hammer found some life mid 5th but Ortiz regains control at end, both with leaky noses now. Decent enough scrap.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Hammer looking more and more like a barroom brawler as the rounds go by.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Castano looks like Gabriel Rosado. Like to see Ortiz stop playing Ali and get those combos off
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Hammer not having a bad 8th in spots. Ortiz not closing the door after rolling out after those sharp jabs.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
No matter what happens, this wasn't the comeback statement Ortiz was hoping for.
-
Re: Brian Castano v Erislandry Lara - Ortiz v Hammer on Showtime
Ortiz defintily looked better is the first half than he did the second. Throwing that left very sparingly like he has to pay taxes on it. Credit to Hammer for that awkwardish stubborn performance and getting his own in but can't see him winning more than 2 rounds.
