Hi Ive been a member on here for a while dont post much but love the forum. Was just wondering at 39 am I the oldest member? I got intestested in boxing in the early 80"s Haglar Hearns ect and had a limited AM REC but Ive sparred with some top guys from the Midands UK. Anyway just wondered how you became interested in this great sport and what ages u all are.
I'm 20 and have only been a fan for 2 years BUT I have seen literally thousands of fights in that time, I have like 20-30gig worth of fights on my PC!! I also go training for boxing,nothing serious,just to keep fit and I enjoy it. I became interested when there was this advert on TV showing Barerra Morales and I was like WOAH!!! Been in love every since!! ;D I am currently catching up with classic older fighters and lower weight classes,Calderon,Salvador Sanchez,Wilfredo Gomez,Carlos Zarate,Finito Lopez etc. You must have seen them right?80's?

What's up Bob. I'm about to be 31, so you have me beat. I've been watching boxing since I was five{my step-dad was friends with Aaron Pryor}. Mokele seems to know alot about old fights, and is very wise. You might want to ask him.

Nope, I'm older. I saw the 1st Clay-Liston fight as a child. :) I saw it in black and white at my grandfather's house.

Yep, 55, watched Cavalcade of Sports boxing with my dad when I was a kid. I guess that's how I got hooked. Funny thing about my dad's generation. He was never really into sports. I don't recall him following baseball or football too much, but like a lot of his generation he knew about the popular fighters of the day.
I'm 24 and have been a fan since I was kid. I got it from my dad I think he use to be one of the biggest boxing fans I have ever met (RIP). Now I Have been following it ever since.

CutMeMick!!! Cavalcade was one of the best boxing programs. It had top name fighters and was on free tv. I remember seeing Gavilan, Basilio, Fullmer, but don't remember much about the fights. If I remember right Gavilan said he got the bolo punch from the movement of cutting sugar cane with a machete. I was lucky enough to meet him at the IBHOF before he passed away. Got him to autograph a glove for me.
:) Completely agree.....Your right he was working a summer job with his godfather and got the punch from that cutting sugar cane with a machete.....Do you remember the fight with Walter Cartier I was watching it yesterday he was loosing the fight and needed a KO and got it in 10th & final round :o the way Cartier falls to the ground it was as if a kid had dropped their rag doll......Wow!! an autographed glove from "The Cuban Hawk" :bow:Quote:

i'm 21 ive been interested in boxing cause my moms dad who died b4 i was born boxed and won chicago golden gloves for light.wt a couple times in the 50s ...anyway mom sorta had the idea boxing came naturally to me so she encouraged me to box and i grew into an ok boxer (altho just amature)but i got long arms for someone 6'0 so i do ok boxing other 199ers
but i have to say maybe she was right i played other sports but boxing is the only one i stuck out in
im 26 and i dont seem to be getting any younger :-\
i first started watching boxing as a kid when itv showed those great eubank, benn and watson bouts. the fight that most lingers in my memory from a young age is benn: mclennan. seriously no sport can produce the same heart stopping drama that boxing can. when boxing is good, nothing can touch it.
its only in the last couple of years that i have become really obsessed with following the sport and i kind of came along on the forum because none of my friends out here had a clue what i was talking about when it came to boxing. we could talk football but when it comes to boxing its just one way conversation and this is where saddos comes along. a great forum and site with a great cast of characters.
I first got into boxing around 84', with HBO showing all of the good fights of the time. I remember watching Hagler/SRL (Hagler won by the way) and Tyson when he first started coming up. I was a huge fan back then till he lost his mind. When the fights started going to PPV I stopped watching as much. Got back into boxing when The Contender TV show started, been following a lot closer since.
And I am 32.

I'm 32...thought Hagler was ROBBED!!! and sparred Manning Galloway 2 weeks after he became the first WBO welterweight Champion...it was a painful 5 rounds...Didn't know it was him until after.....Hindsight I would have "passed" on that opportunity and just lied about sparring him... lol
