Good move for Usyk against a proven hard nut.
Its really just a case of when/if he stops Takam.

Same night as wbss back with Inoue-Rodriquez and Josh Taylor and Wilder v Breazeale in NY? Decent intro to heavy for Usyk but silly date by Hearn to flood the viewing options.

Hearns got form for doing this when he either doesn't get his way or feels challenged.

Hearn announced this date and venue for Uysk months ago. Solid debut for a guy that will be fast-tracked.

Takam would fight anyone. I feel sorry for him at times. He may not have what it takes to get to the other level.

Good matchmaking by Usyk's team.

Takam has a 'name' in the division ad has turned into something of a gatekeeper fighter

he is durable so will give Usyk a good workout and time to assess the difference at heavyweight ..... while also being a small guy, rather crude and not a devastating hitter. He has fallen short against the best guys too

Good choice for a heavyweight debut

I can't see uysk stopping him but will be impressed if he does

So he'll essentially be going head to head with the one he was just trying desperately secure a deal with and baring a fiasco can see him standing center ring with Usyk talking up a showdown with AJ 'no need to wait around if Wilder won't fight' etc. leverage he might think. At least the two main events are a contrast, can't see Breazeale lasting long while Usyk may box Takams ears over the distance.

Don't get me wrong I like hard match making but Usyk could have had someone that would crack.

Perfect would be Breazale but given that can't happen why not a Christian Hammer type?

Takam isn’t awful but isn’t good either. It is a decent first fight at HW though. He should get in some rounds and get used to someone bigger. If all goes according to plan, he should step it up pretty big the next fight.
