I’m definitely interested in both of these fights. It seems like each has a definite favorite, but they are both against a very live underdog.

Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
I am looking forward to both fights , are they on TV ?

Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Really glad these are coming off after all the money issues. Baranchyk is a face first buzzsaw but have a feeling Taylor will bay way to versatile and break him down late. Hopefully off this we get what should be imo what is one of the most anticipated match ups right now, Taylor v Prograis! I'd pay for it

If Taylor beats Baranchyk, I agree that Taylor vs Prograis is a huge fight.
On a side note, I would love Mikey Garcia to face the winner of that one

Yep at 140 there is much quality work to be done and Mikey should have jumped right into it where he's already staked a claim.
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Also, there is talks of a Ramirez-Hooker unification. If that happens then 140 is doing it right. And again, Mikey is missing the action. His legacy would be much better to clean out that division rather than go for broke at welter.

Josh Taylor vs Ivan Baranchyk
Edinburgh southpaw Josh Taylor will look to become a world champion when he takes on Ivan 'The Beast’ Baranchyk in Glasgow tonight.
The 'Tartan Tornado', a member of the McGuigan stable, battles undefeated IBF super-lightweight champion Baranchyk in the main event at the SSE Hydro that doubles up as a World Boxing Super Series semi-final.
Commonwealth Games gold medallist Taylor, 14-0 as a professional with 12 knockouts, earned his title shot by dominating American Ryan Martin at the same venue in November en route to a comprehensive seventh-round stoppage.
Freddie Roach-trained Belarusian Baranchyk won the vacant IBF strap by beating Anthony Yigit in the quarter-finals.
One of these fighters will have a chance to become unified super-lightweight champion, with WBA titlist Regis Prograis awaiting in the final after halting Kiryl Relikh inside six rounds in Lafayette, Louisiana last month.

Taylor vs Baranchyk takes place tonight at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.
The main event is scheduled to get underway at 10pm at the earliest, depending on how the undercard fights progress.
The chief support for the bout is a meeting between Japanese sensation Naoya ‘The Monster’ Inoue and Emmanuel Rodriguez.

Naoya Inoue vs Emmanuel Rodriguez
Naoya ‘The Monster’ Inoue meets Emmanuel Rodriguez in the semi-finals of the World Boxing Super Series tonight with world title gold also up for grabs.
Inoue is already a three-weight world champion having won world titles at light-flyweight and junior bantamweight before adding the WBA regular bantamweight title to his collection with a devastating 70-second stoppage of Juan Carlos Payano last October.
Unbeaten in 17 professional bouts with 15 ended by knockout, the Japanese powerhouse is already regarded as one of the world’s most exciting fighters and is slowly creeping into the argument for being one of the top five best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet.
Tonight, he takes on Rodriguez for the Puerto Rican’s IBF title, with a place in the increasingly prestigious WBSS final also up for grabs.
Tensions between the two increased this week when Inoue’s father and trainer was shoved by a member of the Rodriguez team at a media workout.
With Rodriguez out to calm the hype surrounding his opponent, it promises to be an explosive counter on a card that also features Scotland’s Josh Taylor fighting for his first world title.
Inoue vs Rodriguez takes place tonight at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.
Josh Taylor meets Ivan Baranchyk on the same night in their WBSS super-lightweight semi-final – with Baranchyk’s IBF title also on the line.
The meeting between the two undefeated fighters will headline the show, with Inoue vs Rodriguez to serve as the chief support on the card.
Ringwalks are likely to take place no earlier than 9pm.

Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Inoue v Rodriguez coming on now.
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
I thought the first round was pretty close but Rodriguez did a bit better. The big question is whether or not Rodriguez can keep his energy level up. His last fight he faded late.
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Both fighters throwing hard fast bombs at each other but Rodriguez landed the more effective punches to win the first round.
Quality fight
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Wow. Three knockdowns and it’s over. Inoue really is a monster
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Inoue is vicious and stops Rodriguez in the 2nd round. Rodriguez face is battered and he finished the fight with body shots.

Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
If I was Donaire I would give him the title, cup and everything else.
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Donaire has basically gotten a bye to the finals. His first opponent gets hurt during their fight and has to quit, then his second fight his opponent gets injured at the last minute and Donaire gets to fight a short term replacement. Now he gets to fight Inuoe and gets the opportunity to get beat up badly.
Two unfortunate things here. First, Donaire in his prime vs Inuoe would be a great fight. Too bad Donaire is way past his best. Second, I was looking forward to a good finals but the best fighters on that side of the bracket got injured so it ruined what could have been a good final.

This was effectively the final.

Just watching on catch up . I never thought Rodriguez won the 1st round. Inoue is a fucking beast.

It was close and does not matter now but think Rodriguez landed the better quality punches.
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Josh is a lot taller and using his speed and height to win the first round.
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Taylor won the first round pretty clearly. Baranchyk is a buzzsaw though so we will see if he can wear down Taylor. If not, Taylor should easily win this.
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Taylor too quick and slick for his smaller opponent to win 2nd round
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Baranchyk trying to target the body in the 3rd and does better but give it to Taylor
3 nil
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Closer 4th round but still give it to Taylor.
4 nil
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Taylor is just beating Baranchyk every round. Baranchyk doesn’t seem to have the one punch power to be able to stop Taylor in his tracks
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Taylor panicked a bit in the 5th because of the nick and was a bit too loose. He needs to get back to his boxing.
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Best round for Baranchyk by far. He had Taylor very uncomfortable towards the end of the round. I just have a feeling that Taylor will come back out strong
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Baranchyk landed some hurtful upper cuts in the 5th and I will give him the round. Just busier.
4-1
-

Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Nice counter right hook by Taylor. It was a close round before that. Now it’s a 10-7 round. Baranchyk needs a knockout now after that round
-
Re: WBSS semi final - Taylor v Baranchyk - Inoue v Rodriguez 18/5/19
Taylor knocks down Baranchyk in the 6th twice with a right hook the first time and left hand the second time.
