Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Tank by KO.
Hope he fights twice more this year and starts to step it up.
I still think he's the man to beat Loma.

Davis is really stacking those cans and taking this best friend of Broner thing to far. He's floundering in a full division where he already gave up belts on the scale.

Davis will change his name to Thurman by 27

He’s worse than Thurman. At least Thurman did fight some top fighters in the division. Davis has been avoiding them his whole career. Davis has the ability to be a top 5 p4p fighter. Maybe even the best. His weight class isn’t the best, but there are solid fights out there for him and he isn’t taking any of them.

Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Yuriorkis Gamboa v Roman Martinez on undercard. Sort of feels like one that already happened 10 years ago. Nunez predicting he'll ko Davis ;D.

Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Tank doing it easy again :-\

Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
In other news, Tevin Farmer is on the same card and his IBF title is on the line against a Frenchman.
;D

Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Alright. Two cards at same time, this should be a mess ;D. Just be in here talking to my self :-X. Ladarius Miller v Jezzrel Corrales up first. They keep saying Miller beat Jamel Herring but thought Herring won that one.
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Al Bernstein and Barry Tompkins talking about Kennedy McKinney. Now those were fun days. Corrales touching Miller in the blind spots in 3rd a little bit after Miller looked to easily take one and two.
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Best rally of the fight for Corrales end of 4th. Caught Miller flush with 1-2 and a left hook that saw Miller smile it off.
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Corrales 5th, letting combos go inside and beating Miller to the punch. Exchanges picking up!
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
These are tight rounds. Corrales landing the heavier faster shots capped with a headbutt last few rounds from where I sit. Using entirety of the ring too and Miller just following him a bit. Like to see Miller lead to the constant repositioning of Corrales as he's been clocked before. Needs to let his hands go late 7th!
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
No idea 7th. Miller jarred him early with slappy hook and Corrales comes on late. Big crowd in Baltimore
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Corrales with the more effective punching is what it may be boiling down to. Miller doesn't look so good when he hurries to back to ropes. Corrales trying to walk Miller onto the right. Might just give 9th to the ring card girl. shaped like an hourglass with all her sand in the bottom. 10th round fight up for grabs. Corrales has no friends here and his corner made that clear.
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
not once but two tape problems for Corrales in 10th. Miller tosses Corrales down...Corrales springs up ninja style..ref takes a feckin point ???. The hell was that for? Corrales wins round and ref takes it back from him.
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Seriously..ref screwed Corrales hard there. Criminal point deduction after Miller clearly threw him to canvas. Insurance policy for the local favorite :p
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
One of the most brutal KOs...Pettway v Simon Brown. Wow. Cards taking time here..buckle up. Annnd split at 96-93 Corrales..96-93 Miller..95-94 Miller. Yep the POINT fucked Corrales.
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
61 percent on Twatter gave it to Corrales. The Dazn card is really sloooow here with constant refreshing. Think that experiment may need retooling.
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Davis coming off like a decent dude in his bio talk. Just can't understand why that career seems so staggered. Might do well to get rid of that clown Broner always hanging around. Dudes like a roving gas cloud.

Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Gamboa still at this. Few years ago I think Rocky gets him out but both are so far across that bridge now. Remember when Gamboa was called quicker than Meldrick Taylor..yeh that was funny ;D. This might be short and exciting.
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Ah boy Martinez looks pretty off and rigid. Good little combo from Gamboa pushes him back. Nice double body shot from Rocky as Gamboa jumps in.
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Martinez dropped hard off left hook right hand. Gets up fired up.
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Annnd again off 4 punch combo! Rocky takes full count. For what it is Gamboa looked pretty damn sharp here. Clean and explosive.
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Wow a three fighter final 10 bell here. Don't see that often and hate to see it at all, ever. RIP Maxim Dadashev, Pernell Whitaker, and Hugo Santillan.
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Nunez looks pretty rangy and doesn't lack for confidence. Might be..hopefully a pretty good scrap.
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Wait Davis looking taller ;D. Fast probing by Nunez staying his ground. Davis does lean in heavy off his left. Lingers there a bit. Nunez def has those twitchy hands. Davis stuffs a double jab in his teeth end of round. Good 1st
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Nunez walking full in off fast jabs, bit awkward. Has the feel of Davis timing those bricks as it goes. But Nunez working him..opp nevermind. Nunez rocked ugly. woah fight over ref waves it. Gotta see that but Nunez was rocked and rolled
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Early stoppage all taking. Davis just ignited there. Paulie sounds personally disappointed ffs. Way he snapped back hands down on replay good stoppage in the instant but just as easy call ropes holding him up kd.
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Good on Davis there. Jim Grey pitches Abner Mares ?! and he calls out Tevin Farmer again. We need that fight. Networks be damned. Mayweather dressed like he raided Steven Segals walk in closet.

Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
I thought that Corrales deserved the nod over Miller. I felt that Miller just wasn’t doing enough. Corrales pushed the action most of the fight. And that point deduction was ridiculous. It was nearing the end of the last round with no prior warning. And HE got thrown down.
I thought the ref stopped the Davis fight early. I thought that the ref was going to give him a standing eight count. That’s what should have happened. He was hurt but he was not out. The ref was running in as Nunez leaned over when he looked like he was falling down. You have to give the fighter a chance. Not that Davis wasn’t going to win anyways but you still have to give Nunez a chance
-
Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Was it fought under rules allowing a standing 8 count? Because if not the ref cannot do one

Not sure. Either way the ref was still a little fast in stopping it.

Pretty sure the unified rules don’t allow so I just assume they can’t unless I know differently. I think the kids head snapping around so violently convinced the ref more was happening than really was, and perhaps Davis’s devastating power had something to do with it. Better to be too early than too late sort of thing. Hard to say, but it all could be fixed if standing 8s were allowed more and used more. But then you run into the concern of Refs potentially using standing 8s to rig fights. Using it when unwarranted, suddenly a lost round is a 2 point won round, that’s a big swing

Thats one where I've been on both sides regarding the S. 8 count. They did away with in the late 90's I believe but it would appear to be another reasonable tool for the referee. I mean honestly some refs already rule arbitrarily at times and already have little repercussions for a completely blown or iffy call and seemingly only answer to the tv interviewer. On one hand a ref could assess a fighters shape after being staggered bad, have them step forward etc and then decide but on the other it also allows the damage to 'reset' and a hurt fighter to recover to only take more. I do think anytime a fighter is held up by the ropes or near falling through it should be an automatic knockdown, the ol Holyfield v Cooper scenario maybe.

Re: Gervonta davis to defend wba title against ricardo nunez on july 27
Nunez wasn't doing too badly before the stoppage. As much as I would like to say it was quick, Nunez kind of earned it. He seemed to be holding his own (even though I think eventually his inability to hurt Davis would be a big factor) and then committed a cardinal sin... He took his eyes off his opponent to smugly shrug off Davis's power to the crowd or his corner and then got turned into a bobblehead with his eyes closed. He wasn't the same after that punch because he never saw it. Every big shot after that rag dolled him.
