WBSS Cruiserweight Series
This is on now on sky sports
Dorticos is taking on Tabiti and think Tabiti won the first round.
-
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Tabiti looks small against Dorticos who is now putting some good pressure on Tabiti in the 2nd round.
1 all.
-
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Tabiti is winning the 3rd round but it took a lot out of him, I can not see him do that much work for the whole fight.
Tabiti 2-1
-
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Dorticos is looking slow and loading his punches but Tabiti is moving around and holding a lot.
3-1 Tabiti
-
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Dorticos starts fast and aggressive, the ref has told them off for making it a messy fight which could cause cut by a clash of heads, but I can see Tabiti getting beat up and stopped.
3-2 Tabiti
-
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Just as I predicted there is a clash of heads in the 6th round.
Dorticos is cut now and must go for it. Dorticos going hard to the body and Tabiti has a point deducted for holding. The pressure is getting too much for him.
3 all
-
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Tabiti punched low in 7th and taking a much needed breather.
Dorticos showing some urgency and showing relentless pressure.
4 - 3 Dorticos, takes the lead for the fight.
-
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Tabiti is just surviving in the 8th , Dorticos is putting some hurt on him.
5-3 Dorticos
-
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Tabiti probably sneaked the round there as Dorticos slowed down in the 9th.
5-4
-
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Tabiti gets flattened in the 10th round by a big right hand by Dorticos. Too big, strong and better. He is ecstatic that he has won.

Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Not to rain on the thread, but since I cant find a way to watch anyways, why did they do another cruiserweight WBSS? I expect Breidis to come out on top now, but feel Gassiev was a little better than him, and hes moved up to HW now along with Usyk and Michael Hunter. In other words, the best fighters have left the division and its back to the no mans land it had been for years. Shouldnt be complaining against high level fights getting made I know, but literally any other weight class would have been more interesting.

I agree but they probably could not afford it in the other divisions and have these fighters and belts signed up.

Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Glowacki v Briedis is on next, do I do the rbr or wait for the Warrington fight?

You must be right there. Just seems to defeat the whole thing when there is a clear winner of the tournament and then they do another back to back to determine a distant runner up. Every other WBSS has been a great thing for fans and the respective divisions so far.

The first round was close and both not committing to much but the second was more lively and the atmosphere sounds great there.

Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Almost fell outta my chair seeing boxing as top thread today :p. Thanks for the updates, tough loss for Tabiti and team Mayweather.
-
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
I missed the fight but Briedis wins controversially he elbowed Glowacki deliberately and should have been disqualified. Glowacki was knocked down twice and way after the 3rd round. Briedis even said he knew the bell went at the end of the round.
Briedis knew he would not get disqualified at home. The ref would not get out alive.
-
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Dorticos isn’t a great fighter but he is good enough. He seemed to have the easiest path to the final.
The second fight was crazy. That elbow was uncalled for. I think it was in the moment of being frustrated by getting hit straight in the back of the head. I think the ref made the right call though. Glowacki sold it like it was a huge elbow. It was decent but not a full on elbow.
The bell sounded weird so I think the ref heard the bell but didn’t realize what it was. There is no way he didn’t hear it. It kept ringing for about ten seconds. Breidis was probably going to get him out of there either way. Good fight while it lasted.
Breidis should pretty easily beat Dorticos in the finals. He might stop him.
-
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Just wstched Breidis v Glowacki, bizzare, terrible elbow from Breidis, really blatant and hard and the bell was ringing for quite some time before the ref stopped the round, let the polish chap get beaten up more and more.... Really crooked... Really bad elbow, really bad ref.
-
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Elbow , then he kicks the crap out of him for 35 seconds after the bell.
NO CONTEST should be the result.
Ref needs to be sacked.
-
Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
The elbow was a cracker disqualified yes but imagine the riot .😁

That was the reason why the disqualification did not happen

Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
The divisions are very active with the top boxers still facing each other. Glowacki was also dirty, so he really can not complain about the elbow. He should have received 5 minutes to recover. The ref was awful. I do not know how he did not listen to the bell. Anyway Brieds seemed to knock out Glowacki right away. The right hand from Dorticos was awesome. Bridis vs. Dorticos is a good fight. I hope Dorticos will win, but I think Briedis will be the final tournament winner

Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
I dont know what to make of that elbow, it was in retaliation to a pretty nasty rabbit punch, which wasnt the first Glowacki threw. I think a 5 minute break would have been as good a call as any. The ref not ending the round was ridiculous, I loved the British commentator, whoever it was. The only possible saving grace for the ref was that the bell sounded like one that would signal recess in an elementary school, Ive never heard that in a fight, was it broken or something:confused:
Also, is it true that ref is the husband of Adelaide Byrd? What a joke if so, get them the hell out of boxing.

Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Breidis vs Glowacki was an absolute shitshow :shakehead: ....that ref was fucking atrocious. The ref had no confidence to step in, dude you're THE authority in the ring whether you like it or not you have to police the action!!!

Breidis SEEMS to be a much better boxer but Dorticos can fucking punch. Boxers typically beat pure punchers, but Breidis doesn't always move his head and if he's plodding forward not moving his head then Dorticos will move it for him. Dorticos needs to paw with that jab, hook off it, feint with the right hand, lull Breidis into a false sense of security and then drop the hammer on him.
For however long it lasts it should be a fun fight, I hope both Tabiti and Glowacki recover well, Tabiti especially....a KO like that and he might never be the same fighter again.

Dorticos isn’t a good boxer. He has a great punch but I don’t think he will win more than a few rounds. Breidis is pretty legit. He has a pretty good punch too. Dorticos always has a chance with his punch but I just doubt he will get to Breidis

Shows how good Noel Gevor is. Robert Byrd is 74. Friends in high places

Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Yes a man that age really shouldnt be seen fit to control the action between two top fighters of any size, let alone big men. Ive thought that there must be plenty of decent active journeymen or recently retired HWs etc who would be perfectly good refs and happy to do it, beats the hell out of getting beat up as a sparring partner or something, and its not as if they shouldnt know exactly how to read the action already.
Then again I think back in the day they did have a couple of ex HW champions who were shoddy as refs in some major fights. I want to say Jersey joe Walcott, and maybe Joe louis?

Remember Walcott being lost during the Ali v Liston 2 fight but unsure about Louis being a ref at a top boxing match.

Re: WBSS Cruiserweight Series
Really disappointed in Byrd who I tend to like in there. But he looked like a man compromised and playing to an audience. That boxing still refuses to acknowledge what is actually happening in the ring..clear illegal elbow and outside interference to name a couple ensures it's corruption. Even bowling and dog shows utilize video reviews :p.
