Buying Christmas Presents?
Do parents of littleuns get offended if the uncle, aunt, gran etc buy more expensive/extravagant gifts than them?
Re: Buying Christmas Presents?
And in this day and age of Amazon and whatnot does anyone still have the front to not send something?
How many here leave it all to their missus?
Re: Buying Christmas Presents?
Bought the presents in October/November from shops. Absolutely mental now in the shops so glad I did it early.
Just got the food from Iceland now.
Re: Buying Christmas Presents?
Haven't bought a single present for anyone in about 5 years, can't afford it and refuse to skint myself out for it.
Well, I say I haven't bought any presents, I have bought a bottle of moonshine which I intend on drinking with my mate on Saturday, that's the closest I have come to buying anybody anything.

As long as it is under £20 then that is fine.

Food from Iceland? Is that the name of a supermarket over there or you talkin about the country? If it's the country why would you buy it from Iceland? I guess maybe they have stuff cheaper or better quality or items that you cannot get where you are.

the only thing I can think of from Iceland would be bottled volcanic water and certain fish. Maybe cheese? Do tell.
Re: Buying Christmas Presents?
Only gift I've given so far was 60 bucks in old gift cards to the scrawny FedEx kid who had to haul my 100 lb tables ;D. I gift co workers with my awesomeness and handling every single dag who "looks at them funny" so screw them :p. I gifted myself by taking 5 days off for first time since 2011. Feels weird.

The first five days off in 9 years? Man that sounds like a long overdue present to yourself. Fuck it buy yourself a crate while you are at it and ride it out for as long as you need.

Well 8 but who's counting. Thought long about just quitting but we'll see how Friday goes.
Re: Buying Christmas Presents?
I leave it all to the missus. This time of the year she really comes into her own. We even have a pact that we don’t have to buy each other anything.
And this year was the perfect Christmas. She said to me “I’ve still got the cards we gave each other last year, shall I just put them out?”
I Honestly have never felt so in sync with her! ;D

Re: Buying Christmas Presents?
I was a miserable cunt about Christmas for years too (I still swerve out of christmas dinner and all that lark) but since all my family snuffed it my siblings nippers have got to that age where I remember being excited as funk. Nice memories. And i've never been a tight cunt.
Bought christmas food too - sweets, nuts, chocolate and all - which will all go in the bin, however, it makes me look normal.

@Fenster yeah the first one that comes to mind is 2013 in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. My wife and I went out to a Christmas dinner buffet called The Veranda with a co-teacher who was a guy from Massachusetts and his Japanese wife and one other co-teacher who was a Malaysian Indian woman. The Christmas dinner consisted largely of sambal, nasi lemek, stinky tofu, Chinese kailan, wing beans in peanut sauce, nasi goreng, beef rendang, mihoon, etc. They knew a lot of westerners were going to be there so they made sure to have some roast turkey and a kind of low budget second grade lasagna.
