Floyd's uncle has passed away at age 58. May he rest in peace. R.I.P.
"Floyd Mayweather's uncle Roger, who also trained the boxing legend, has died.
The 58-year-old, who was also a professional boxer until 1999, is believed to have been suffering from poor health, including diabetes.
Roger trained his nephew when he turned professional in 1996 until his father was released in prison two years later.
He returned to Floyd's corner between 2000 and 2012 as he became recognised as the best pound-for-pound fighter in boxing.
He later developed memory problems and went missing for several days in Las Vegas in 2016...

Apparently he had been in declining health over the past decade.
Interesting to see in BoxRec where his nickname was Black Mamba.
I thought Kobe Bryant was the only pro athlete with that nickname.

Thanks
Aren't you busy burrowing deep into the next conspiracy theory?
I think I saw him fight late in his career and he was world class fighter. I can see where Floyd got his boxing style from Roger. Floyd did mention his uncle's health condition was caused by boxing and not wanting to have the same issues when he would retire.
RIP Champ.
Not a good time for Floyd.
Too bad. Roger never looked that healthy in the old Floyd pre fight vids. He looked older than 58. Rip
“Most people don’t know shit about boxing” those most insightful words will live on forever champ, RIP
It always saddens me to hear of people younger than myself passing away.
Rest in peace, Roger Mayweather.

RIP to a legend. Good thing we have guys like Sugar Hill Steward coming down the pike.
Aww Sheeeeeeeeeeit.
Floyd getting his ass kicked by life this past days. He's having his whole inner circle bumped off.
Julio Cesar Chavez SR had a big part in the passing of roger. He took a lot of unnecessary punches and damage in those two fights just like Meldrick Taylor when he fought Chavez . I guess now people can appreciate the defensive, calculated style of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Diabetes is such a brutal disease. Floyd said Roger used to eat junk food every morning even after he got him a chef to cook him some healthy sht.
The best way to beat diabetes to significantly reduce your body fat and to pay attention to your diet. Roger wasn't visibly fat with clothes on but he was probably skinny fat especially around the midsection. The fat in that part of the body is the worst for diabetes. This combined with decades of fighting in a tremendous era of boxing really did him in.
Ellie Seckback: "Roger, what do you think about new middleweight sensation gennady golovkin ?"
Roger: "Who?"
Seckback: "Gennady Golovkin"
Roger: "MF sound like a chocolate bar to me!.. Who he beat ?.. Who ?.. See, Dat MF aint beat nobody!"
Lol. R.I.P Champion. Happy hes no longer suffering, but 58? Come on man...

Boxing is a brutal sport it's a heavy price to pay in the USA you can fight if you're punch drunk blind or hiv positive.
Roger was a good fighter but hell he took some stick in his career in later life the amount of punches he took had a lasting effect RIP Roger.
I saw him fight at the Olympic Auditorium against one of the Bejines brothers and he won in the 6th round. This was when he was called the Mexican Assassin and wore a sombrero to the ring.
Unc was a pretty exciting highlight reel type fighter. Always seemed to be in shoot outs that saw him take a wobble or a couple of the most brutal KOBY endings you'll see Lockridge and Pineda stand out live and always had a searing straight right hand that did it's fair share of hurt. He short circuited Chavez in the rematch but not long enough and had a young Whitaker down crawling on all fours at one point. RIP champ
