Smiths punching against Alvarez' chin.
I didn’t realize that it got postponed. I am also picking Smith. I think he gets to Alvarez.
I’ve just never been high on Alvarez. He caught a shot Kovalev but was losing up until then and then got beat easily by a shot Kovalev. Before and after those fights I haven’t been impressed either.
Smith is by no means great, but he has shown that his power is fight changing and I think that Alvarez will quickly fight hesitant and lose because of it.
This really does have fun fight written all over it. I like the pop and pressure from Joe as a fighter and at times Alvarez seems 36 going on 46. But I have to lean towards Alvarez who looked good dissecting an admittingly green Seals last out. Kovalev got him but have to think he'll be the technical boxer this time around vs the onrushing Smith. Then again Smith is an ever present danger from opening to close and still has the massive brass he showed fighting on with a broken jaw a few years ago. I'll change my mind in the morning ;D
Definitely feels like their styles will gel, which will now have the opposite effect and be a shit fight ;D
Think I'm edging towards Alvarez for the victory, possibly by stoppage, but it really wouldn't be a surprise if Smith got him out of there either.
It seams everybody on this thread brag Smith power, as it should be, but Alvarez power is no joke either:

Looks like this is ESPN+ rather than reg channel :p. I will say this it streams ten times quicker and cleaner than DAZN, at least locally.
No idea what's up with the FOX card? Showing a 11pm start time here on FS1..but just stumbled into the Fundora vs Gallimore result???. Local FOX here is re airing the Saints super bowl win from 2010. What the fark is going on.
I quite like this 8-3-2 Clay Collard who has been on a run of beating up undefeated guys since boxing 'returned'. Type of guy who knows his level but is getting a mini story out of it. A regular dude went from being homeless to mma then boxing. Pretty awkward style, not Hamed awkward but still unique and far skilled above his numbers.
Julian Hammer hands Rodriquez annihilates 13-0 Anthony Laureano in the 1st. Then looks at him greatly disappointed. He's got a point ya know :-X
Man they have made Smith Jr out to be Thanos himself with this lead in ;D. This should be good
Joe loading up on absolutely everything. Bit sloppy slappy but bulling in. Alvarez uses that shoulder block rush to offset him then winds counter, better than any jab.
Series of 5 Smith left hooks up and down, blocked a bit but he moves Alvarez. Joe looks like he trains old school Foreman style..flip those tires, drag that car down the road. Alvarez long way to go keeping this defense
Round 3 Smith. Trying to keep up with double hurricanes coming our way and making Pico de gallo :D
Smith gonna get him. Alvarez nose busted in 5th and looks like Fabio on the roller coaster. Smith has found his rhythm and Alvarez settling into these exchanges..
Joe made his knees dip off the jab and Alvarez gets in huge right that Smith felt. Bad news for Alvarez it was a clean chopping shot off the temple..and Joe walks on :-X. 8th with Smith off the gas a bit and Alvarez looking for the counter. On physicality this is a no contest
Smith destroyed Alvarez. Alvarez really had no answers. Smith is a solid fighter and he has a good back story but he just is a level below the top tier guys. Good win for him though
Thats a wrap :angryxo4:. One and done from Smith leaves him flat halfway through the ropes trying to count the lightbulbs. Big KO and well earned
Congrats on your 40 thousand-th, bro. Just happened to glance up and see that neat little milestone number up there. :)
BTW..... best of luck to ya on those double hurricanes barreling down on the Gulf.
As if 2020 weren't f*cked up enough..... these bastards are coming in pairs now.
Stay safe.
Just caught some highlights of this so not got a full view of the fight. But looks like Joe Smith did what he does, and while I thought Alvarez could probably have worked out a game plan to overcome Smith's somewhat primitive style, his dogged determination and clear power ended up working for him and he cleaned Alvarex out.
Seems to be one of those guys that people write off too easy and is better than we give him credit for.
Good win and gives his career another boost.
40 000! wow You should at least get a clock or something @Spicoli mate. Well done and congratulations ;D
Stand in from of Joe Smith and you get knocked out.
Thanks bud didn't even realize it at first ;D. Yeh Marco fizzled a bit but some rain. Laura looks like the heavy lifter of the two. Skirted you guys South yeh? Was hoping it might hit more land..mountains..in Cuba to bust it up a bit but we'll know better this time tomorrow.
Thx for commentary! I'm so out of sync, I didnt know it happened. Just watched Highlights showing a pretty good knock down.
But back on topic.............. maybe Canelo can go up to 175 and challenge Joe Smith Jr.
wtf am I saying.............. :-\
Fantastic win by Smith. Alvarez came out trying to fight but just never threw enough. You can't keep taking that many clean shots from a guy like Smith.
