Just thought we should have a thread on this fight card. Starts about an hour after the Colbert-Arboleda card on Showtime. Guess I'll be flipping back and forth as other times. ;D

Damn. Had to wait for college football to be over while watching the Colbert-Arboleda fight over on Showtime.
Tuned into ESPN and the football had finished and Edgar Berlanga had already knocked his opponent in the 1st round. :-\
So the 1st round knockout streak continues... and now sits at 16-0 with 16 first round knockouts.
Oh well... gonna have to get me one of those split-screen TV's. ;D
Verdejo-Nakatani about to start.
1st round knockdown by Verdejo in the 1st round. Verdejo looks sharp... but Nakatani is sturdy. Fingers crossed.
Don't want to get too excited yet..... but Verdejo looks great. Quick... poised... powerful... and good footwork. Let's hope he's really back.
Just seeing 6th Verdejo with two kds on Nakatani? Oof. Felix looks on point.
Damn no wonder this guy went the distance with Teofimo Lopez. He's got a beard and a half on him. Verdejo still in control, though.
Shit... Verdejo got caught. Thought that might happen. This Nakatani's as tough as a pile of rocks. Let's see how Verdejo responds.
This is a brutal fight!
Ohh man :angryxo4:. That was hard
CRAP. And just like that..... the fight's over. Oh well..... I wasn't sold coming in, and my suspicions turned out to be right. Verdejo's done. Too bad. His comeback was looking good for a bit there.
I was encouraged by the fact that Nakatani had never been down and Verdejo put him down twice in the fight. But it looks like Verdejo's punch resistance and recuperative powers aren't what they used to be (or maybe never were)... and/or he just can't figure out tall, lanky guys. Whatever the case might be... it's probably over for his comeback. Two KO losses doesn't bode well for him going forward. Too bad because he's got a shitload of talent.
Great win for Nakatani but bad loss for Verdejo. I think that Verdejo can still fight and be a decent gatekeeper but that’s about it. Nakatani I think can have a decent career.
I actually forgot Stevenson was main event ;D
Stevenson is really good, but I hope his next fight is a real step up
This fight is pretty boring. Stevenson is completely outclassing him and Clary seems like he is mostly trying to survive
Pretty much fogged over a few rounds in and muted it. Stevenson is clearly skilled, tons of athleticism. Just feels like he and or promotion are lacking in momentum. Most of the young guns, Haney, Teofimo, Garcia, Lopez v Berchelt and even Frampton v Herring have all been or about to be in deeper with significant showdowns. Shakurs last two have been last minute subs really moving up. Granted I think he's the least experienced as a pro and calling out Berchelt so looking forward to maybe stepping up.
does anyone beat shakur at this weight?
I was more interested in that Edgar Belanga dude. 16 fight. 16 wins. 16 first round KOs.
In 2021 he will start a second round KO streak lol
But the crazy thing is he has a patient style of fighting ! He doesn't come out Tyson style steaming.
He should start predicting the round like Ali.
"If Plant tries to survive, I end him in five."
"If Saunders wants war, I kill him in four."
Felix Verdejo ? How the mighty fall.
I suppose he can take solace in that he was leading on the scorecards but he is stuck between prospect and contender. He needs to work on his stamina and developing an inside game but he'll never what ppl thought he could be.
Shakur Stevenson ? His grunts had more pop than his punches. He barely has the power to blacken an eye.
He styles himself on Floyd but he must remember when you're young you should be destroying everything your promoter put in front of you. Floyd in his 20's was a Killer!
He looks the part but he hasn’t beaten anybody near the top yet, so we will see what happens when he really steps up. His lack of power could pose a problem. Maybe not though if his skills are really that good.
I really hope he gets his wish and fights the winner of Frampton and Herring and then fights Berchelt.
