Top 5 current favourite boxers
Name your top 5 current favourite boxers.
-
Re: Top 5 current favourite boxers
You know what - that's a struggle for me at moment. Maybe it has been last few years to be fair.
Who would it bother me if they lost maybe easier way for me to look at it....well a few months ago I would've said Fury straight away but all the carry on the last few months has made me less bothered about him even.
And Fury aside I probably don't care either way how a fight goes with anyone out there at the moment. I'm liking the look of Joshua Buatsi and hope he'll become a British favourite.
So 1. Fury 2. Buatsi. The end........
Bring back the 90s......:-\
-
Re: Top 5 current favourite boxers
I am the same, would struggle to name 5 fighters I care about.
Josh Taylor
Golovkin - not really active
Yarde
Okolie
Buatsi
British featherweights Wood/Galahad/Warrington unification would be good.
AJ v Fury would be massive.
Spence v Crawford will never happen.
Manny is effectively retired now.
Can not get myself to like Canelo but he is beating everyone they put in front of him.
-
Re: Top 5 current favourite boxers
Current favorite boxers. Hmmmm...... none in the upper weights, unfortunately. AJ might be the only exception. Other than that, the rest are little guys. Less drama... more fighting.
I'd say:
Inoue
Teofimo
Subriel Matías
Xander Zayas
Angel Acosta

Re: Top 5 current favourite boxers
Forgot Inoue, he is a power puncher. Donaire is also on my list.
-
Re: Top 5 current favourite boxers
Was also just going to say I forgot Inoue. Not seen much of him but like what I see.

Inoue knocks people out quick which is another reason why we don't see much of him.
I forgot Loma, he is very special, hope he gets a rematch with Lopez who is turning into a diva.
-
Re: Top 5 current favourite boxers
Inoue
Spence
Porter
Lomachenko
Crawford
My current fav, not whose the best P4P.
-
Re: Top 5 current favourite boxers
Let's see.....
Saul alvarez of course! What's not to like?
Golovkin, he's pretty much finished now but he's still great fun and pretty good
Usyk, what a great talent
Inoue is great fun too
And last would of course be David Haye, he is back after all :S

Alright lets do this, cool!!;D
Least fav-
Rigo- way too inactive living off his amatuer record it seems...
lara- never liked his style
Broner- is he active? if so, he belongs here.
Ruiz Jr. what a poor fight to come back with...Arreola...
Canelo- I think he can fight & has a nice resume, but I dont care for his choices the past few years.

;D Crazy thing is Ruiz and Arreola laid it all out of the group. On paper it was a cancellation torch pass but bookoo credit to Chris for reinventing himself for the early go and a quality scrap. Lara has some stank on his counter punch lately but those legs are used up.

Re: Top 5 current favourite boxers
Ok guys... way to take the ball and run with it! ;D
Only fair I should name my top five "un-favorites" as well. :)
In no particular order.............
Rigo - for the same reasons you guys very well stated
Canelo - (no need to go into the reasons yet again)
Fury - prior to Wilder... was at the top of my list. OTHER than Wilder... has done absolutely zilch. Hate his style.
Tank - no patience for woman-beaters
Broner - can't leave this Class A jerk off this list
-
Re: Top 5 current favourite boxers
canelo, tank, shakur, king ry, camaron zepeda
-
Re: Top 5 current favourite boxers
Heading into 2022 it looks like this:
Oleksandr Usyk.
Brian Castano.

Since I gave 6 for some reason last year, I'll give 6 for this year. Heading into 2023 it looks like this:
Usyk.
Inoue.
Roman Gonzalez.
Juan Francisco Estrada.
Radzhab Butaev.
Subriel Matías.
Castano has slipped outside my top 5 until I see where he is when he returns.
Taylor has a chance to put on a better performance in the rematch with Catterall.
2023 could be the last year for both Usyk and Gonzalez.

That whole "taking names" list needs much work. Benavidez is at least set to take a name. Well take one lol. But that's it. Teo is one or two distraction nights away from taking orders at Texas Roadhouse. With his Dad. Ennis is fighting a Karen and succumbing to 'interim' hibernation.
You tell me these guys are fighting and I need/want to see based on recent opposition...
Inoue
Usyk
Prograis
Charlo 154
Bivol
Bam Rodriquez
To be continued

Cool! Yes... let's revisit. ;D
Inoue is still there.
LOL @Spicoli on Teo. Nail on head. Dude needs a serious turnaround to the suddenly glaring chinks in his armor.
Subriel and Xander are still there, of course. ;D
Acosta has faded from my rearview mirror.
To take his place, I'll have to give the nod to Bivol. Won my instant gratitude for bringing a certain red-headed diva crashing back down to earth.

Mine are still pretty much there, unfortunately Josh Kelly has to give way for Jai Opetaia. (Not sure why Bud isn’t on the list?)

The thing with Jai isn’t just about his talent , it’s outside the ring as well.
Every interview shows he’s just a straight up guy chasing greatness. When he’s asked about champions in his division, he doesn’t slag them off, he says they’re great fighters , but he believes he’s better.
And he’s stood next to Eddie , who is typically saying “we’ll make him millions, fighting in Saudi, U.K., US, and he just turns around and says “that’s not what I want. I want to give back to Australia. I want to showcase my talents there and be a great for them. It’s not about the money.”
When asked about the IBF Stripping him , he just says “fucking leave me alone man, just let me fight.”
Fucking love his spirit!

Bit of a shake up from last year
Naoya Inoue
Luis Alberto Lopez
David Morrell
Subriel Matías
Artur Beterbiev
Bam Rodriguez is right there
Bit of an Inoue fan club going on here ;D:cool:
-
Re: Top 5 current favourite boxers
Mine have really shaken up. The old mantra of "need/will" see them fight live has changed up a bit too. Aside from some spotty fight night streams the direct same time exposer is yet another ppv/app fee.
But Inoue is still there. Just have to wake up at 4am to tune in ;D
David Benavidez
Bam Rodriquez
Usyk
Tim Tszyu
Subriel Matias
Junto Nakatani
Fernando Daniel Martinez
Bud Crawford
Leigh Wood
That's over five :-X

Good call Garcia. Mere 20 yrs old and must see tv. One up there on the excitement meter each out. No idea if he burns like a candle at both ends or helps put 160 back on the championship map, but he's a very promising one-man wrecking crew.
-
Re: Top 5 current favourite boxers
Albert Batyrgaziev
Artur Beterbiev
Radzhab Butaev
Vladimir Shishkin
Imam Khataev
