Fights on Fox for Christmas
Ok nothing major of course as what kind of Saddo losers watch low level boxing on a major family holiday :-X;D. No family in town today so here we are. A couple of young heavily hyped prospects headline tonight. Joey "don't call me Mike Lee" Spencer 9-0 meets one Limberth Ponce 18-4 middleweights. And Vito Mielnicki Jr 9-1 takes on Nicholas DeLomba 16-3 welters. Spence up first
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Slow 1st Spencer with the pot shot speed. Still keeps that left real low. Slight clash of heads.
What get's me is PBC has these prime time Saturday night spots and seems a waste to not use them for say Ortiz v Martin or Thurman v Barrios type main events. Which are basically eliminators for who is the next opponent in major fights. But what do I know.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Both guys doing some waiting in 2nd. Spencer sharper but somewhat inactive. Ponce not without some skill trying to come over left and body.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Spencer really telegraphs that right hook to body and there for left hook counters. No jab either
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Slight upping the pace in 3rd for Spencer and finally puts 3 together moving Ponce back off of a right hand.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Big gaps of inactivity Spencer leaping in for 1-2 big body shots and backs out high. Nice right catches Ponce on the way in end of 4th.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Oh two exchange speed the difference Spencer rocks him with right hand. Ponce slowed off that and dropped hard now! Nice finish from nowhere. Ref no count, tko 5th. Right hand had him wobbling bad, left hook caught the tip of chin and another right put him down. Nice win for the kid

Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
He's calmed down a bit seems pretty level headed on the mic. Tons of work to do but you have to start somewhere and make progress, so mission accomplished. Interesting...there's been no boxing card in the States ON Christmas since 1969 ???. Makes a boxing nerd wanna run to the stat books ;D
Clay Collard 9-5-3 v Cuban Yoevis Gomez 4-0 next up. Part time MMA fighter Collard had a nice upset run in the early days of covid Bubble bouts. Has lost 3 straight though.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Oof Collard wobbled bad off short Gomez combo! Nice hand speed on Gomez drops him. Back up but eating that right and woozy. Well that's a wrap ref waves it off tko 1st. Collard looked like a plastic bag blowing through the parking lot. Walked right thru him impressive by Gomez.

Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Rajon Chance v Elon de Jesus in a rematch next up. These two fought to a Maj. draw in September where Chance was down and cut by a headbutt.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Nice to see Jimmy Lennon Jr on the announce mic. Always liked that guy
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Chance with the high shoulder guard really nice range of him. DeJesus switching southpaw a minute then back. Sounds like a ton of controversy in the first fight. Short left upper hook from DeJesus gets in late 1st and Chance does his best Ric Flair Woooo.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Chance seems pretty focused and wears a look of intent trying to line up the long right hand. DeJesus boring in both hands but Chance with the quick movement off and reset. Almost has that bow & arrow stance. DeJesus do well to try to step off with him inside. Much better up close. Needs to get something going quick.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Oh nice counter left hook from DeJesus. Chance thru right and caught hanging out there and mugs to crowd.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Better 3rd for DeJesus better shots. Chance sharper but doesn't strike me as exactly sturdy when his feet go flat.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Better work early 4th for Chance. DeJesus dangerous on the left side when Chance ties up. Oh big Right bounces off head of Chance but Chance moves out well and goes to body. Chance lands 'cleaner' but DeJesus looks to have more on them. DeJesus needs to go all in with two rounds left.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Chance mugs every time he gets caught. Doesn't mean ya didn't get hit. Ref warns him for holding after he claimed he was hit low. Cleaner work by Chance may have him up here but feels like this needs to be 10 rounds ;D. Good scrap
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
DeJesus upper hook his best weapon. Needs to mash the gas on it last round. Hate to jinx it..these two are headed for another draw :-X. Oh now DeJesus claims low shot and ref gives him a minute.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Ah man now DeJesus lands right hand low on Chance and ref warns him. Chance taking his time he caught it right in the jewels.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
DeJesus working inside Chance hanging on late. Nice right hand by Chance. Really a fun little scrap there. Up to the judges now.
58-56 Chance...58-56 DeJesus...59-55 Chance winner split call.

Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Vito Mielnicki Jr up next and last here. DeLomba talking about being his scrooge. Oh Vito went out and named himself "White Magic" who woulda thought ;D. First scheduled 10 for Vito.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Good 1st for Vito the jab is working overtime. Early on looks like this might be a paintjob. Forehead of Delomba getting red and bumpy
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Double left body-head looked to bother Delomba. Vito chippy on the inside, hook then shoulder block and a tap to the beltline :-X. Physically they're hours apart.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Vito counter with hard right hand has Delomba in all kinds of trouble. He melts into ropes hurt and Vito looking for left hook to body. Putting his hands together well on what is honestly a stationary target. Vito full control but does stay pretty straight line
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Like to see him press for the finishers into 4th. Delomba doesn't look long for it and legs are starting to stiffin at the knees
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Delomba doing well to stand in more and if anything getting ref involved with Vito clinching more here. Smothered Vito but not winning rounds at all.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Delomba out with some Karate master squat stance :-X trying to get physical here. Actually finding small spots with choppy punches. Trying to wear Vito down. Nice right clips Delomba but not putting too much together now.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Vito back to the basics behind the left jab in 6th. Keeps Delomba on the end of cleaner punches majority of round.
Charles Martin getting that PPV money next week ;D. Man I can't get over that. I'd kill for an old school Don King stacked ppv card of old
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Rinse repeat Vito takes 7th. Think Delomba has had his moment. Body work from Vito might do wonders here..
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Vito takes 8th Delomba has a couple choppy shots in. Decent 9th for Delomba late on with elbow/uppercuts. Vito doesn't have much imagination on his arsenal. Delomba rough and tumble credit to him. Nothing pretty but far from flattened after being so hurt in 3rd.
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Oh big counter right hand staggers Delomba! Woah ref stops it ???. Says corner waved it off but sudden ending there. Right was legit he was rocked ugly. tko 10th
-
Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
At 19 yrs good learning fight for Vito Mielnicki Jr. Hey Merry Christmas y'all! Onward to bigger fights next year let's hope :beerchug:

Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
32 uninterrupted posts on boxing RBRs. ;D
I feel a Miles record must have been shattered with that... except his droning soliloquies were rarely about boxing. :D
Kudos on representing Saddo boxing on a night when most of us were busy drinking "coquito" (the superior, Puerto Rican version of eggnog) and eating roast pork. ;D
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year... in case I party (family) too hard and forget to log on during those days. :beerchug:

Hey thanks bud appreciated. I'm just a guy who likes watching fights who can def talk too much ;D. RBRs are not what they once were pre app days but glasses up to anyone dropping in or taking anything from fight night rambles. More the merrier
We managed some Korean bbq. And too many deviled eggs :-X but need to get our hands on some 'coquito' maybe for the New year.

Ahh... you won't regret it, my friend. Coquito is absolutely top-notch stuff. It should be made correctly, though.
There are many recipes out there on the Internet. But I guarantee if you use my wife's recipe you'll make a coquito that'll get you hooked.
See below:
(4) cans evaporated milk
(2) cans Coco Lopez (cream of coconut)
(1) can condensed milk
apx. 3/4 of a 750 ml bottle of white rum (adjust to taste)
apx. 1 tsp vanilla
sprinkle cinnamon to taste
Some recipes say dark rum... but to me that's a mistake. Dark rum and spiced rum add a different flavor to the coquito and you'll have conflicting flavors.
Same goes for our local moonshine (called "pitorro" or "ron caƱa").
Pitorro on its own is delicious... sort of like a super aged sweet bourbon.
But using it to make coquito is a mistake. Better to just go with a good white rum.
I imagine some stores in the U.S. stock coquito. Probably those with a significant Hispanic population. But those off-the-shelf coquitos don't hold a candle to the well made homemade version.
Enjoy! ;D

Re: Fights on Fox for Christmas
Titofan forgot this but managed to do a drive by on a small place over New Years, and should have done the home version to specific recipe ;D. Like the gist of the mix. I'm a sucker for coconut. But this girl was serving up with white rum-spicy dark mixture and sugar cane syrup ???. Def had a bite but need a redo.
