Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
This fight has gone under the radar and is at the Ally Pally!
The USA’s two-time Middleweight World Champion Daniel Jacobs will collide with Britain’s word rated super middleweight contender John Ryder at the famous Alexandra Palace in London on Saturday February 12. Boxing fans worldwide can watch the fight live on DAZN (excluding Australia and New Zealand).
Former WBA and IBF middleweight champion Jacobs (37-3, 30 KOs) earned a split decision win over two-time world title challenger Gabriel Rosado last time out in November 2020 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood, just under a year on from his fifth round stoppage win against Mexico’s Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
‘Miracle Man’, who hails from Brooklyn, New York, fell short in his WBC, IBF and WBA middleweight world title unification clash with pound-for-pound star Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in May 2019, losing out on all three of the judges’ scorecards. Three years on the 34-year-old still has a burning desire to mix it with the best in the world.
“I’m super excited to be returning to the ring,” said Jacobs. “It has always been a dream of mine to fight in London as a professional, and I’m looking forward to fighting in front of a great crowd. I’m putting my best foot forward on February 12.”
Islington’s Ryder (30-5, 17 KOs) suffered a controversial points loss to former WBA super middleweight world champion Callum Smith in his one and only world title challenge at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool in November 2019. But the 33-year-old Tony Sims trained-southpaw returned with wins over Mike Guy and Jozef Jurko in 2019 and 2020.
“This is the fight I need to really bring the best out in me,” said Ryder. “Jacobs is a great fighter but he has had his time and now it’s my time to shine! My dreams are at stake on February 12 and destiny awaits. It’s time to get right back to where I need to be.”

danny is right for the picking

Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Just a weird position for a guy like Danny to be in. Apparently all the tools and inspiration a fighter could hope for in fluid hot division but just feels like another guy content to tow the line.

i see john as the uncrowned champ at one sixty eight

Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
BOXING makes its long-awaited return to London this weekend as John Ryder faces super-middleweight rival Daniel Jacobs.
Ryder hasn't been in action since a knock-over job out in Austria toward the end of 2021 while Jacobs last fought in 2020.
The Miracle Man won a closely-contested split decision over Gabe Rosado in Phoenix, Arizona, but is on the lookout for big fights again.
A clash with Ryder in London could do just that, as the winner is set to be thrust into a title-contending position with the WBA.
Canelo Alvarez, who beat Jacobs in 2019, currently holds the WBA title at 168lbs, while Ryder has previously boxed for the same strap against Callum Smith.
Daniel Jacobs' big super-middleweight clash will take place on Saturday, February 12.
The main card is set to get going from 7pm UK time, with the main event likely to start around 10pm.
Jacobs vs Ryder will be held at the Alexandra Palace in London.
There will be a capacity of 8,000 at the event.
The show will be promoted by Eddie Hearn's Matchroom.
Jacobs said: “I’m super excited to be returning to the ring.
"It has always been a dream of mine to fight in London as a professional, and I’m looking forward to fighting in front of a great crowd. I’m putting my best foot forward.”
Ryder added: "This is the fight I need to really bring the best out in me.
"Jacobs is a great fighter but he has had his time and now it’s my time to shine!
"My dreams are at stake and destiny awaits. It’s time to get right back to where I need to be.”

I like Ryder, always have done. But he was always just short of top level at MW . And that was his optimum weight. He is not a SMW, he’s too small.
Yes , he fought well against Callum Smith, I think the “he was robbed” shtick is a bit over the top.
It was the best fight of his career, and the worst of Smith’s.

i also think the gorilla is better suited to one sixty. giving more than five rounds to callum seems over the top for me. danny should have lost to gabe & has been out since that fight. the timing for this fight could be perfect for the gorilla

It could be. It all depends on Jacobs’s attitude and whether he thinks he’s got anything left or whether he’s coming for the pay packet.

Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Figure this will be an afternoon show here in the States? I'm really pulling for Ryder. Have nothing against Jacobs, the man has defied the grim reaper and done very well in return but feels like time and interest have caught up post Canelo. The Rosado waltz was just bad all over though both can be faulted for that.

Card has started here and main fight due to start around 10pm here so Jacobs / Ryder about 16:00pm for you I guess?

Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
- Daniel Jacobs vs. John Ryder, 12 rounds, super middleweight – WBA super middleweight world title eliminator
- Johnny Fisher vs. Gabriel Enguema, 6 rounds, heavyweight
- Felix Cash vs. Magomed Madiev, 12 rounds, middleweight – vacant WBC International middleweight title
- Ellie Scotney vs. Jorgelina Guanini, 10 rounds, super bantamweight – vacant WBA Intercontinental bantamweight title
- Austin Williams vs. Javier Maciel, 8 rounds, middleweight
Williams / Maciel just finished. Maciel just didn't want any more punishment.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Felix Cash v Madiev on now. Both undefeated and letting their hands go in the first round.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Cash knocked down and hurt in the 2nd round by a left hook.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Cash went down pretty hard there in the second, he did well survive and might be getting back into it..
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Cash winning 3rd round firing back at Madiev with uppercuts.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Cash looking solid and recovered in the 4th. Boxing beautifully and controlling the fight.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Cash using good footwork and jab to win 5th round. Madiev has looked slow since the 2nd round.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Cash knocked down and hurt in the 10th and final round, also deducted a point for holding. This is close now.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
That was some amount of wrestling from cash in the last round, the ref might have been a bit kind with o ly one point off..he surely had a big enough lead to win though.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Cash gets the decision, rightfully.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
It has been a good entertaining card so far.

I hope he can pull off the upset and beat Fisher.

I thought he was rubbish and I like to see an upset.

Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Always good when you have to fight thru a cut this early on. Guy is built like a cruise ship thought.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Fisher always looks like he is about to walk himself onto something without his opponent even having to bother making him do so. If you can sell tickets you will get your chances but he will have to do better than that against someone who moves a little faster than continental drift.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Jacobs safely winning the 1st round boxing behind the jab and sharp counters.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
rights from danny looking good
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Ryder trying to close the distance in the 2nd round but still getting countered by Jacobs who also is tying up Ryder when he gets too close.
2 nil Jacobs
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Ryder really has to get off and make a presence felt or be leashed onto the jab-straight right all night long.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Jacobs pushing Ryder back now in the 3rd. He is enjoying this fight now. Ryder has to pick up the pace and throw in combinations.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
All Jacobs 4 nil. Easy work for him so far.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
All Jacobs 4 nil. Easy work for him so far.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Not like Jacobs hasn't been caught and hurt with short hooks prior. Head in his chest and let them go over top really only shot. Danny painting by numbers here.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Ryder trying his best to rough up Jacobs in the 5th but still only one winner.
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Lot more posing by Jacobs he doesn't like the pressure. Ryder has to make it choppy inside much better round. Not sure why ref warns Ryder
-
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder
Jacobs keeping that distance and countering sharp against Ryder. He is a class above Ryder and not moved out of first gear. Ryder ends the 7th very strong to win it.
6-1
