it is the fight to make at one seventy five. they have both been champions in the division long enough now & have established themselves as the two best in the division for me. both these guys won their belts in twenty seventeen, terence only moved to one forty seven in twenty eighteen & we get all the errol v terence talk about the fight not happening but artur & dmitry are in the same boat
Obvious fight to make so knowing boxing we probably won’t see it. Let’s hope
I have always believed that Beterbiev is the best light heavyweight and hope he beats Joe Smith to force Bivol to face him next.
In fact Canelo should insist that Bivol does that otherwise he will not rematch him for the good of boxing.
I know it is a diva move but in this case I am in favour of it.
so the fight at seventy five

I hope Bivol accepts the fight and not wait for Canelo or do somthing stupid like go down to super middleweight.
If ever there was a mega fight so obvious and needed this is it. And frankly given the 'diva' nature of a lot of top guys today, these two don't strike me as adverse to big challenge or protecting a meaningless 0. All the nonsense..imo..with Bivol melting down for the convivence (and dollar) of Canelo is in some part what is really wrong with boxing today. Who even wants that fight fan wise ???. I can see Bivol having uncharted trouble with Beterbiev style wise and Beterbiev may just benefit to it happening as some are writing him 'on the other side' after Saturday. Great style clash and all on the line. But the writing is on the wall for politics to possibly fark this up. Inside they'll shovel Smith to Beterbiev as mandatory, or step aside ? and outside both may catch roadblocks with Nationality or residence stuff happening.
Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol is one of the best fights that could be made in boxing today, but won’t be happening this summer.
Talks for the undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO light-heavyweight world title showdown have collapsed over money, Bivol and his manager Vadim Kornilov have confirmed.
WBA champion Bivol won all of boxing’s notable Fighter of the Year awards last year after his shock win over Canelo Alvarez and impressive defence against Gilberto Ramirez.
WBC, IBF and WBO champion Beterbiev unified three titles by beating Joe Smith Jr last year, then knocked out Anthony Yarde in a stunning mandatory defence in January.
Following this win, talks began to try and make a match between the two Russians, however this has not come to fruition.
Bivol told Big Fight Weekend: “All this time I tell my team, ‘Let’s make this fight, let’s make this fight.’
“They were discussing, but finally they told me there is nothing interesting for all of us for business, it’s nothing for this time.
“Maybe next fight we could talk because there is not a good offer for this fight [now].”
Kornilov explained: “There were discussions for June/July, but the bottom line is what was being discussed was not serious enough to make the fight happen at that point.
“We were talking about trying to make the fight in June/July, whether it was gonna be in the UAE or the USA.
“But the numbers that were brought up – what we were trying to materialise, it was just not materialising.
“There are two sides to that fight, they’re both pound-for-pound fighters, they’re both top ten pound-for-pound fighters and they both want to make money.
“They both want this fight to be worth their while. I believe that they feel the same way we feel.
“What was being talked about in June/July was just not at the level of the fight and that’s why it didn’t materialise.”
Now Bivol looks most likely to wait until September for his next fight.
It is possible that he could defend his belt against Jaime Munguia in the meantime, but this is not a fight that overly excites the champion.
In September, Bivol could move down in weight to make a more lucrative rematch with Canelo for his undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO super-middleweight world titles instead.
Beterbiev meanwhile has been ordered to defend against WBC mandatory Callum Smith next.

Oh yeah, Bivol vs Beterbiev would definitely be a banger of a fight! Both fighters are beasts in the ring and it would be interesting to see who comes out on top. Hopefully, the fight gets made and we get to see these two warriors go at it.
It seems like Bivol is wanting to face Canelo even coming down in weight to get the fight signed rather than face Beterbiev.
Dmitry Bivol has labelled the World Boxing Council’s ban on Russian boxers ‘unfair’, as he looks ahead to his next fight.
The Kyrgyzstani-born Russian holds the WBA light-heavyweight title and has been linked with a bout against Artur Beterbiev, who holds the WBC, WBO and IBF belts.
Russian-born Beterbiev represented his country of birth until last year, when he opted to represent Canada – where he has lived for 16 years – amid sporting sanctions relating to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Among those sanctions was a decision by the World Boxing Council (WBC) not to recognise Russian and Belarusian fighters, including champions.
That decision also precludes Bivol, 32, from fighting Beterbiev, 38, in a unification bout at light-heavyweight, despite strong demand from fans.
“Of course it’s not fair,” Bivol told Seconds Out on Monday (12 June). “How could [someone] say, ‘I am the champion of the world,’ if somebody from some country couldn’t fight for your belt? But this guy could be better than you.
“It’s not fair. And this guy is just training, spending his time in the gym, and he’s not allowed to fight. He’s the same [as] you, he’s just living in a different apartment in a different place, but he’s working the same [as] you.
“He’s training, he’s fighting, his mentality is similar, but why is he not allowed to fight? It’s not fair.”
Bivol last fought in November, comprehensively outpointing Gilberto Ramirez to retain the WBA light-heavyweight title, which he also retained in his previous fight, against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in May 2022.
Meanwhile, Beterbiev most recently fought in January, stopping Anthony Yarde in the eighth round. He is next due to box in August, defending his titles against another Briton, Callum Smith.

It's all politricks by the wbc. If the criteria for this bs is birthplace, why are they still ranking guys and Arum still putting them on the air under the Jared Anderson fight. Bivol hardly strikes me as a Russian puppet and spokesman and a "major" sanctioning body should be about the merits of the individual fighter and the biggest fights. Meanwhile they collect their fees and taxes regardless :p. Think about a 'ban' on Nationality, penalizing the sportsman and it doesn't end. Where do you draw the line? Apply this to fighters from Belarus ? who are teasing nukes for Russia? China and Iran providing drones and equipment? It's bullshat.
dmitry ain't getting the fight unless artur vacates the wbc belt
talk is that this could land on june first
officially official for june first. the matchroom v queensberry five v five will be on the undercard

Today is a good day
I just want to thank Bob Arum and Top Rank for making this fight happen. We needed to see this now.
Beterbiev for undisputed
I like both for beating up our best British boxers.
Beterbiev has been the most impressive and would like him to win but Bivol style is exactly how to beat him.
Wilder v Zhang is a good fight but feel sorry for Parker as he beat both and misses out on a good pay day.
Turki boutta convert me to Islam
If he keeps putting on these great fights, I think it's time for us to change from SaddoBoxing to an islamic forum soon just to thank him. I hope they declare jihad against the corrupt boxing orgs like the WBA/WBC/IBF/WBO and all the corrupt boxing promoters
Inshallah !!!!
DEATH TO THE SHIITES !!
Turki is single-handedly saving boxing right now
Trust me - God is real and he's a turkey
As to the Bivol v Beterbiev fight - What's the most fascinating to me in this fight is the extremes of what we have seen before:-
- NO ONE has been able to nullify Beterbiev's offence and ability to cut off the ring
- NO ONE has been able to nullify Bivol's control of range and fight tempo
Something has to give
Whoever wins, people will act like that person winning was obvious from the start and they they are in different leagues.
For Bivol to win he has to be able to not only move fluidly, (as he is known for) he has to have a phenomenal inside game (short hooks, uppercuts, up-hooks, clinch/hit ) and he has to have enough power to (temporarily) stop Beterbiev's forward progress to get his shots off and move out. You don't need an iron chin to beat Beterbiev (as despite his KO record, he's not a "lights out" type puncher) but you have to be A level in most boxing skills and strength.
Beterbiev doesn't merge his defence and offence particularly well; when his opponent throws he simply stands off, waits for them to stop and then continues his onslaught so I see Bivol sustaining his combos to disrupt the flow and rhythm of Beterbiev, forcing him to reset and restart.
He has done it time and time again. Zurdo is a big man with a good chin, but he couldn't keep coming forward because Bivol's combos were forcing him back. Canelo has a good chin, but he too was being forced back. He made Canelo look like a journeyman. Since then notice Ginger has started the "I'll fight who I want, when I want, if I want" approach
Bivol knows exactly what he's getting himself into and he will be prepared for everything.
Both fighters have ice-cold poker faces and very rarely show any kind of frustration / lack of composure in the ring - but I suspect if anyone can bring it out of the other, it's the other..
But I hope Bivol doesn't get robbed on the cards by the biased Saudis who want a Muslim to win.
that raymond ford v nick ball fight is excellent. both guys have had big fights this year. this fight holds a lot of appeal
Definitely feeling a tickle in my throat on this Saturday. Likely have to miss work, what a shame ;D. Great main event and I'm all over the map picking. I think Beterbiev has actually improved his speed and punch mix when it comes to distance to closing down the range. Not much orthodox when he gets the choppy short combos flowing and while he's not a one n' done puncher, his shots last. They sit on and sap a fighter like very few today. And he does not neglect the body...or hips and thighs. Then again, I can see Bivol doing that spring in his step and rolling straight 1,2,3 combos like he does best now. The guy is a highly disciplined kangaroo ffs with ice water in his veins. Keeping Beterbiev resetting makes perfect sense and he keeps tight corners while turning an opponent. He can twist a guy's feet up badly while staying out of the wheelhouse. But on perimeter issues I wonder in a way if Bivol has had it too comfortable, by no fault of his own but full credit, considering the style and full package Beterbiev will show. Bivol always keeps a high volume and has a blueprint on ring awareness and managing literal real estate in there. But he hasn't been beat up save for a Joe Smith bomb and hardly pressed and forced into a fluid firefight. I worry about his inside game beyond the always fluid straighter punches. They do tend to repeat themselves. Simply put I have no idea who is winning this ;D but full respect and appreciation that we're getting two of the sports consummate professionals putting everything on the line. Boxing needs this fight it's one of the best no bullshit unifications we've had in a very very long time.
It will be some interesting viewing. Nothing firm but it sounds like a dual platform night with Dazn doing the PPV "undercard" and Bivol v Beterbiev being a one off on Espn+. Not exactly sure how that will unfold. The last ppv dazn had stretched until near or on midnight here before the main kicked off and the two being competitors should be unique. No price on ppv portion yet but maybe $40-50 and we're all in. The 5 vs 5 format is one to build on, but seeing Wilder with matchroom is weird as shit ;D. That fight and Ball vs Ford are very solid. While we're at it let's have a hand for the activity level of both Ball and Ford. Literally right back into the fire for both!
It's a great fight. Don't want to say anything to jinx it just hope it delivers on it's potential. Telling that this feels like such a treat, rather than a natural fight to make that hits all the right notes. Don't want to sound like an old fart but it says a lot about this era.
One thing there is no denying is that the good fights are getting made. And Turki’s idea of Warren’s 5 best v Hearn’s is genius because they ain’t gonna serve up no dead ducks.
I worry about the long term future of Boxing if and when the Saudis get bored, but fights are getting made.
Apparently their first event outside Saudi is Terence Crawford challenging for the WBA Light Middleweight title.
yeah bud's fight is supposed to be announced next week for la. turki is apparently in ny & is looking to work with the pbc. andy ruiz could be on bud's undercard. it would be great to get other promotors involved in the five v five. pbc, golden boy, matchroom, queensbury, top rank
artur is injured. fight has been postponed. the 5v5 will still go on
Bummer. The good thing is that there are a lot of decent opponents already in training camp that could step in against Bivol.
Beterbiev is getting old and delayed his last fight against Smith before beating him. Hope he does the same thing and gets himself right and beats Bivol.
Sucks all around this one. I’m wondering if it’s full surgery and all things considered if Sept is being a bit optimistic tbh. Recovery at 40 and mobile style opponent etc, does Beterbiev march right back into the mega match legit 100 percent or need a quickie feel out first. Feel bad for both of these fighters. Two humble elite fully prepped to lay all cards on the table for sport is rare today. Replacement opponent for Bivol will be interesting.
One Malik Zinad 22-0 from Libya is in at the replacement :-X. He shot from #14 to #2 last month in an ibf eliminator. Good ol ibf with the constant "vacant" top slots.
It's already been over 6 years since Beterbiev & Bivol have been champions in the same division together at the same time
Why not make it 7 years ;D
Beterbiev's inactivity & injuries are hurting his legacy :-\
