How did they manage to leave Rashidi Ellis off the main card? Granted he's been out for a while. Think Vargas can make this a bit ugly and pull off the decision here. Figueroa coming up but with the frame won't really matter. This one may steal the show. Have a feeling it's going to be a pretty bad night for Marinez.
Martin looks so tight but trying to get jab going. Marinez doing well trying to time that short right counter and got 2 in pretty clean.
Are they in NY..crowd booing already :-X. Marinez doing well keeping close and both on their toes. Martin beginning to bring his left and right off the jab but not much head movement from him. Gave 1st to Marinez, 2nd to Martin
Martin kicks it up a notch last minute of 3rd. Good combo and first big shift on his feet. Missed a massive uppercut coming off ropes. Marinez cannot find that right hand now. Charlo out here in the audience dressed like Thurston Howell ffs ;D. Martin reminds a little of Too Sharp Johnson. Martin getting in with straight sharp lefts up and down, Marinez tries to return 3 and got in one. Decent little scrap unfolding thru 4
Nice up close stuff in 5th. Marinez forcing issue and finding success with straight right a bit now. Lot of watching from Martin who finally rips off combo at bell. Like round for Marinez
Gotta say..Martin looking pretty hittable.
Right eye of Martin little lumped underneath. Again Marinez with straight right counters. Martin not moving his skull he needs to shift gears
Alright Martin opening up, real short choppy hooks. Marinez taking all of this so far
Real scrappy round 7th. Martin came alive and put his punches together but Marinez staying right up from shooting counters. Odd reaction from Marinez after a Martin left high off the forehead and he motions like it was a rabbit punch :-X. Tiny little stutter step at bell.
Nice solid opener this one. Martin timing uppers now and think Marinez is finally feeling the power. Martin has those nice snappy jarring shots. Marinez still pushing in 9th but there's been a noticeable shift
Marinez wobbled and delayed down. His legs went first and Martin has really stepped on the gas. Get the feel it's Martins fight to end into 10th
Shocker..Marinez corner forgot to put his piece in. Oh really quality KO for Martin. Drops Marinez again ref waves it in final round. He was in bad shape
Those last combos were fierce!
Just tuned in to see a non-stop barrage from Figueroa on Castro. Castro's lucky the ref didn't step in. To the ref's credit, Castro didn't seem hurt at any time. But man... you gotta punch back, or the ref's gonna stop it.
Figueroa going full out buzzsaw in 3rd and drops Castro who barely beat the count. Thought ref was about to step in. Up and Brandon all over him nonstop punching along ropes.
Evening chaps. Cracking fight here. Spence likes his jewellery too.
They're both throwing like they're getting paid by the punch. ;D Good action fight!
Oh HELL no!
Scratch what I had just said about the ref. How could he stop the fight at that moment?? Holy hell!! A couple of rounds ago Figueroa went on a bigger barrage that went totally unanswered, and the ref allowed it to continue.
Don't get it... :-\
Man that was a whirlwind turn around. Castro was having a decent lil round. Glad they asked Spence about the fight.
waiting on them to ask Abner Mares "why are you fighting again" ;D
caught him on the artery???. A ref actually used that?
Two undefeated champs not bad. A fillipino v mexican should equal a pretty wild fight but Vargas is a pretty defensive Mexican if I remember right.
Good fight, but I don't think it ends well for Magsayo. Vargas fights well from a distance... and those arms must look like they're 10 feet long to Magsayo.
I'm a bit drunk but I like what Vargas is doing here, not bothering to count or score the rounds but I think Vargas is going have the longer term success here, he's getting some nice hooks in.
Wait Vargas isn't a champ here he's moved up in weight...ops...my mistake
Vargas is having a bit of a hard time in this fifth round, looks like he was knocked off balance a fair bit at a few times in that round, the fillipino chap put in a lot of effort there
Love the way a guy like Vargas fights his gangly range. Not backseat and not smothering like so many. Dudes keeping really sharp but not exactly packing big hammers. Magsayo stuck in one gear he cannot figure it.
Fillipino is whacking Vargas on the noggin pretty regular and Vargas doesn't look like he likes it, this could get tough for Vargas, he's fighting back though
Danny Garcia at 154 :headscratch:
Broner is coming back too, I really hope he looks alright and they throw him v Crawford afterwards, the brutality of the deserved humiliation be amazing.
Pretty good for Vargas, hes using his range well and fighting back like a mexican when he needs to, he really has taken quite a few good shots to the head and I don't think he's as comfortable as the tv guys are making out.
Vargas strikes... leaps back... and Masayo's counters miss by a few feet.
First time noticed the ref. Good ref :-X. Magsayo is adrift here he looks tired as hell between the occasional homerun right hand.
Kinda feel bad for Masayo. He gets the knockdown... then proceeds to lunge at Vargas... misses... and almost lands in the 3rd row.
And there's that homerun righthand stuff ;D. Nice shot gets Vargas. sort of melted down but up
Down goes Vargas, he's been getting a bit too easy for a guy moving up in weight. Tired slip at the end of the round too, that's two slips now
Three slips now, is the ref paid in pesos :S he slipped by leaning his upper body forward until his gloves held him up?
