good fight considering stephan is a replacement & was supposed to be on the undercard against guido vianello who now fights jonnie rice instead. stephan & jonnie both got a chance here for me. bruce shu shu carrington on the card as well

Ajagba has been tainted by that loss to Frank Sanchez to me. Still a good fighter, but he clearly is limited... imagine if my wish came true and they put him in against Hrgovic? lolol.... Filip would have killed that man's career.

efe is limited but can still be fun to watch if in with the right opponents. filip probably would have beaten efe had they fought but he was far from dominant in his first real step up against zhilei

Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Had no idea they're showing main card on regular ESPN. Be nice if they make this a programming habit again. Shaw has more than a chance here. Both of these heavyweight match ups feel like a promotion finally saying "sink or swim time" to Ajagba and Guido.
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Haven Brady Jr history of missing weight. At just 21 years old? Not good. What do they feed them down in Columbia, this Cervera looks to have pretty heavy hands early.
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Brady Jr has a vocal grunting Hank Lundy thing going on. Very busy output. Proper salute to Top Rank getting the ring card gals in order :-X. My my.
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Brady Jr full control after 4 rounds. Doing the work but gets warned for holding by ref. Just cannot get away from the feeling that Haney looks like a guy who may run into something down the road career wise. Great twitch and reflex though, crisp hook catches Cervera ugly mid 5th.
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Oh Cervera with a big glancing right hand end of 5th. Lucky he pivoted and it glanced over shoulder because Brady was buzzed there.
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Cervera sponging everything Brady gets in but still getting clocked. Brady has some holes to sure up.
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Brady Jr keeps it smart in final round and cruises to unanimous decision on the cards.
Adam Lopez vs Abraham Nova probably the sleeper event on this card. Long road back for Nova after being lit up by Robeisy Ramierz last year and Lopez seems to always be in exciting fights.
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Tim Bradley and Espn crew discuss 140 as upcoming most full and exciting division. Somehow leave Prograis out of the conversation :-X. Teo vs Taylor at 140 is "the" one ???. Even got a throw away plug in for their upcoming Ramirez vs Commey card.
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Missed most in the background but Nova is sharpening things up and had Lopez down and in trouble last round. Into the 8th now with Lopez in a hole as this heats up.
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
adam's chin has let him down in this one
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Tough tough ending down the stretch from both. Lopez made one last stand in 10th per norm and then Nova comes back with hellacious right hand to end round. Case of heart going with Lopez but Nova should have this all wrapped up on cards :-X
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
i've got abraham by six points
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Wow nooo love from Judges for Lopez. Shut 98-90 on two cards.
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
all three judges have it wide for abraham nova
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
ESPN network card delayed by college basketball. 3 minutes on the court is similar to 10 minutes :-X.
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Bit of a hard jabbing comp between Quido and Rice in the 3rd. Apparently these two have sparred many rounds so hoping for more fire and less smoke as sometimes happens. Quido has some nervous energy going, just bouncing around no matter the direction he goes.
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
And sure his name is Vianello, but if your name is Quido I'm calling you Quido ;D
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Rice banking on that right hand from a long lean back and not like it's not there. But man he's slow here. Jab was his best thing going because Quido bounces right into it. Weird fight really
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
What is with the punches of Quido. Like choppy awkward and forced.
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Really wish Rice was more active. Quido honestly looks just there to get tagged and now cut badly. herky jerky nervous stuff. Just an ugly style. Over left eye and was caused by a big right hand. Quido's wheels are falling off quickly in 6th
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
That cut is massive!! Ref rules it clash of heads??? What. That was a clean huge right that opened it and ref is fucking this all up. This is worse that being screwed on the cards...fight over due to cut. Rice IS the TKO winner but they're going to cards ffs. Atrocious.
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Technically they don't have replay and Benji Marquez just says so. But if you see it. He's literally denying reality.
Now gets overrules and they're using monitors ringside This is some old school Teddy Atlas stuff. You don't need "instant replay" to acknowledge the obvious. Ok the man is correcting himself, respect for that. I can respect an official admitting he blew it in real time. Rice gets the tko clean.
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Big picture good little moment there. Boxing was the adult in the room and righted the crooked ship. You hardly ever ? see a Commision official call the referee out like that. But you can see Benji knew he screwed up too
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
this fight is hell to score
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
i've got it even after four rounds

Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
this is not a very good fight to watch & stephan needs to throw more

Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
gave efe the eighth. i've got him ahead by two points

i've got efe winning by two points
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
all three judges have it the same as i do. efe by two points
-
Re: Efe Ajagba v Stephan Shaw 1/14
Feed Ajagba to Anderson. I also wanted to say that I thought it was great that Moretti was telling the ref that the cut was caused by a punch, even though Vianello is his guy. That was a good move for the sport

That was a hard watch and started doing something else over here. Shaw missed so many opportunities and Ajagba settled into this very methodical rinse/repeat cycle. Felt like these guys sparred 101 rounds prior and just wanted to hear the bell with no harm done.

efe was just jabbing a million times & stephan looked faster & had the better technique when he let his hands go but just wasn't busy enough. i agree with you it's like stephan was stuck in sparring mode. poor showing by both
