It actually shows he's learning how to be sensible with money. He's getting rid of stuff like this now while he's still earning. Wait until he's retired and it's draining his income and it looks like he's giving it up because he can't afford it anymore. Lots of people can't face losing face by giving up their toys or various lifestyle stuff when their income drops and they keep it all up until it bankrupts them. This is good news for him that he's getting a handle on how to go on, or at least he has good advisors.

He didn't even buy it new.
Here's what happened. He wanted something flashy to put on instagram because for celebrities of whatever stripe these days you have to show a little leg to get the coverage that helps you sell PPVs or movies or records or whatever so he bought this boat. Probably wasn't into it too much anyway judging by the second hand purchase and then he takes it out and his hideous see through alien ginger skin gets microwaved by the sun every time he does (people who have been out on any kind of boat on a sunny day know what I'm talking about) and he thinks fuck this, I'll find some other way to get attention.
