David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th
Looks like it's a done deal for Benavidez 27-0 (23) and Andrade 32-0 (17) to square off in Las Vegas for the wbc 168 'interim' strap on Showtime ppv. Not thrilled about the ppv part but this division is long overdue to see these top names sort it out. Interesting timing as it's a Friday night card in the States the day after Thanksgiving in the in what many :feedme: have already determined will be a long holiday weekend. Really like the style mash up and early on, picking Benavidez to grind him down late rounds. Let's have it!

Re: David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th
About time Andrade did something(to he fair he was set to fight saunders I think before a failed drug test), unfortunately I don't think he's that good and will get beaten up but at least he's fighting proper guys for titles now.

Re: David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th
david b ran from david morrell. demetrius has the style to cause david b problems but at thirty five he might have left it too late
-
Re: David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th
Good to see two undefeated contenders taking on one another putting more pressure on Canelo to face the winner.
The fact that it is PPV is normal now which is sad for boxing.

Re: David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th
jermall charlo is rumoured to return on this card against david b's brother, jose benavidez jr

Re: David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th
Can someone please explain in layman's terms what an "interim belt" is?? Been a boxing fan for many years, but have never fully understood the intricacies of these belt designations. Especially with the WBC. Odd that it would be for ANY kind of WBC 168 belt, since Canelo is WBC's love child, and 168 is his division. Which of course only adds to the confusion. Not that belts mean much anymore. That train left the station a long time ago.
On the fight itself, might as well. Might as well have someone fight legitimate fights at 168 while Canelo goes prancing off, looking for more undisputed, undersized meat. Oh... and please spare me the "Charlo is taller than Canelo" pictures. Charlo knocks out about half his opponents at 154 (not a great knockout rate)... and now he's facing a wannabe cruiserweight with a granite chin. Pleeeese.... Canelo can wade in with his hands down with no danger of getting buzzed. Did anyone else notice the difference in muscle mass at the faceoff? Canelo looks massive next to Charlo. Anything less than a TKO win for Canelo should be considered a moral loss.
Benavidez vs Andrade should be an excellent fight.

He is and has logged an impressive 1 single win in 5+ years. Looks like coddling Charlo and letting him keep the belt was even more pointless than initially thought. Who knew.
If this comes off its strictly about his last name and brother.

Re: David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th
I just hope Benavidez doesn't come in fat again & blow a possible shot at Canelo :-X
Or worse struggle with the weight & end up losing to Andrade :o

It's a legit and grounded question. But I think Benavidez has to know Andrade stands as the literal last rung of a possible Canelo clash. Gather all forces and get the impressive W then it's all on Canelo. To duck or not to duck. Also do NOT want to see a Plant scenario where he was beating the dust out of Plant late and an intrusive ref that broke up serious momentum more than a few times.

jose was at fifty four getting beaten by danny garcia last year but his last fight was at middleweight so i expect the wbc will come to the party with a ranking for jose if the fight with jermall is actually signed

Re: David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th
I'm warming up to this fight. It's about time we see Andrade in a good fight where he can showcase all of these skills he says he has. He has always thought more of himself from since he was in the 2008 Olympics where he failed to win a medal. Most Americans wanted him to win a medal... and he felt he deserved to win a medal. But this is good for him now.

I've never had it in, had a dislike, personally for Andrade. Just started to see him as a prime example of bad career decisions and mediocrity. All the way back to refusing to fight Jermell. A very frustrating talent who settled for less as long as he banked some ridiculous purses signing with Dazn. He arguably has not looked 'explosive' since ko'ing Willie Nelson. But he's also the perfect jinx to absolutely screw up the perfect plan for Benavidez. And he's a southpaw who has noooo problem with boiling down the pace of a fight and "stinking" out a fight to nick rounds. He's very good at it. It's easy as a fan of Benavidez to say oh this is a waiting demolition job for him, but we've seen best laid plans go ass end up so many times. Heavily favoring David but mentally ol boy better be on top of his game and not thinking all he has to do is connect to win easy. Smart consistent hurtful combination pressure. Not some caveman leading to frustration stuff. Looking forward to this one.

Good analysis. Me, I have a one-track mind. ;D
I see this as a perfect opportunity for someone to derail Benavidez from his Canelo plans. If Benavidez thinks too much ahead, he could fall into that trap. My "Canelo hater mind" tells me Canelo is lighting candles and praying for an Andrade upset victory, which of course would get Ginger off the hook from having to ever face a true 168 pounder at this stage of his career... not to mention the danger of screwing up the Hollywood script already being written for him for when he leaves boxing.

jermall's fight will be a non-title ten rounder & sergey lipinets v michel rivera could also be part of the prelims

They are putting an Andre Berto vs. Robert Guerrero rematch on this card :vd:

Haymon is peddling door prize paydays from his rusty shopping cart at this point. Still scratching my chin as to why he is currently without a platform.
Nothing but respect for Berto and Ghost Guerrero. Fantastic fight 11 years ago. Guerrero grew on me. But there is irony in that currently so many younger contenders feel stifled and on the shelf while "names for the sake of names only" attractions snag the time slot.

Re: David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th
andre hasn't had a professional fight in over five years. i like that they are both probably equally shot rather than either being a step up for an up an comer but like spicoli says, a young contender/s could have got the slot on the card

Re: David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th
The only chance Andrade has is if he can beat Benavidez off of him and then come back with hard shots without getting hit in return. He can do that. But do that for 12 rounds against Benavidez? I doubt it.... Andrade will have some good rounds, it will be entertaining, but coming to the middle we will see Benavidez do to him what he did to Plant and that is come on strong... and just start catching Andrade as he comes in with anything foolish.
To me, I just don't think Andrade can beat Benavidez off of him for 12 straight rounds... I have not seen anyone do it and doubt Andrade can do it either.

Re: David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th
If Benavidez has made the weight without any struggle I think he stops Andrade late ;)

Re: David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th
Having watched the All Access program for this fight, I've come away with some thoughts.
First, I couldn't suppress a smile during the segment when both Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez were all so supportive of Benavidez as the new face of Mexican boxing. Everyone here knows how much of a Canelo hater I am. This just underscored what not just me... but many boxing fans feel. That Benavidez is a throwback to the warrior style of Mexican champions of old. No diva bullshit or clauses. No fukking cherry-picking or marinating. Just a guy who wants to get in there and go to war.
Obviously I'm rooting for Benavidez in this one. To force Ginger's hand and have Benavidez kick his ginger ass. If Andrade were to pull off the upset I wouldn't be so confident, as I don't think his style matches up well with Ginger. Don't get me wrong. Demetrius could certainly outbox Ginger. But I don't want him outboxed. I want someone to splatter his diva ass all over the ring. Unfortunately, Team Canelo would pull some excuse out of their ass to avoid Benavidez should he win. He (Canelo) hasn't used the "I don't fight fellow Mexicans" excuse for some time now. Maybe he'll dust it off.
I'm looking forward to this fight. I like them both, as people, and as fighters. I think it'll be hugely entertaining fight. This is how boxing SHOULD be.

Re: David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th
David looks embarrassed by Jose Jr and his juvenile antics. ;D
Charlo questioned why Jose had to walk all the way over there just to do nothing.
Damn. I'm gonna be outta town that night and am gonna miss quite a night of boxing. :(
I'm rooting for David to beat Demetrius... but I think I'm gonna be rooting for Charlo to shut up Jose Jr.
Of course, ain't the first time Jose Jr. talks crap. I remember Crawford put him in his place. ;D

Yeh it's basically the wbc baby-step program to see if Charlo is actually interested in being an active fighter. Oddly enough it's not the first time Jermall will be fighting a one-legged fighter ;D. But Charlo looks off, like his speech and his face looks bloated. Warming to this card nicely. I do believe the money's worth is there on undercard and main. Sadly they waited till the last Showtime PPV to bring it :-X. Went in last week and just cancelled all appointment for Fri and Saturday, making a full four day holiday weekend out of this one ;D. Shit I haven't done that in years. Priorities man.

Re: David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th
Dunno if I’ve got this right, but is this the Charlo with mental health issues?
If that’s the case, I don’t think he should be anywhere near a boxing ring . He’s clearly doped up on meds (not PEDS I have to say) . It’s a fucking time bomb IMO. Loads of different serious scenarios. Disgusting to be honest.

Yes it is and it is supposed to be a relative easy fight for him to win.

Doesn’t matter how easy the fight is “supposed to be” . A guy with mental health issues, who still looks like he’s stacked full of meds should not be allowed in the ring for his and everybody else’s benefit.
This is not fucking tiddlywinks.

Priorities is right, bro. ;D
I'm glad you're gonna be able to enjoy what should be a memorable fight card.
Me... I'm gonna have to take one for the team. Happens to be a special family event/weekend, which is gonna have to take precedence over the fight card.
But damn... why couldn't it have been another "Fury vs Ngannou" instead?? :D ;D
I'll miss being in on the RBR...

Re: David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade Nov. 24th
i'm looking forward to the subriel matias v shohjahon ergashev fight. pity there's rumors shohjahon wants to retire win or lose. hopefully a win will change his mind. i'm not sure if the pablo vicente v muhammadkhuja yaqubov fight will be streamed. sergey lipinets v michel rivera & hector luis garcia v lamont roach should both be competitive bouts. the more i think about it i can see the main event being a stinker. i hope i'm wrong. i think demetrius starts fast as usual but turns the fight into a run & clinch fest from the midway point, with david b taking a points win with a knockdown or two along the way

Totally unsurprised. He looked puffy in the face at the press conference the other day (as well as being zoned out)
When the fuck are these Boxing organisations gonna grow some balls and do the right thing for a change.
