Thurman essentially retired 2017 after beating Danny Garcia. He was on a fantastic run but did not build on it for whatever reasons. He came back 2 years later and took some retirement money losing his undefeated record to Manny Pac.
He like so many others with pbc have been forever mothballed in its catacombs. Was always a talented charismatic fighter but imo he goes down as a case of woulda coulda shoulda, he let it literally pass him by and was content with that.
With the benefit of Hindsight , it turned out that this guy was more mouth than action . Flattered to deceive in a largely disappointing career that promised so much more.
one thing that does surprise me is , that in this day and age, when so many fighters trade off past glories, that he hasn't blagged his way into more big money bullshit fights recently.
probably needs to change his nickname from "One Time" to "Once upon a Time" to match his fairytale ideas of himself.
not bothered on seeing him fight again to be honest.
there was talk of keith fighting eimantas stanionis in december just gone but nothing came of it, so many of these pbc guys are inactive
well it sounds like keith is fighting timmy on march thirtieth. erickson lubin withdrew from the timmy negotiations & then this happened

Hate being so negative this early into a weekend, but dang boxing you just make it so easy :-X. This is bad in so many ways. Pbc just picking up right where it left off with half ass PPV tags put on "big" fights no one asked for or needed. Keith Thurman 1) is a welterweight. 2) has exactly 1 win/fight in four and a half years. A win vs a guy coming UP in weight himself. 3) is in no one's top rankings, or lower rankings. Not the alphabet boys nor Ring, no one. No Thurman. 4) this just puts a glaring light on the fact that pbc has failed miserably at building, forming bigger stars over its first run. A next generation. This is just recycling in the cheapest way of an old dusty "name"...and that's a stretch fans need to stop falling for...and right back literally where they first started yeeears ago. This is not building to big fights naturally, it's simply short-sighted manufacturing.
More importantly, it's a crass cheap non effort to finally afford Tszyu the warranted top legitimacy at 154 after Charlo took his newfound respect, full 154 undisputed recognition and bubbling stardom and punted it all away for a "dare to be paid" predictable gimmick vs Canelo. The fact that THIS was their path forward for Tszyu in the aftermath is just making Tszyu stand in line all over again, play the follow up to Keiths the company mans tired dusty antics and speaking in 3rd person about himself. No legit title defense on the line for Tszyu and when it's all over and Keith is steamrolled in predictable fashion...people will point and say, well it was a used up inactive 147 Thurman after all, Tim still hasn't faced anyone :p.
amazon won't be in the boxing business long if this rubbish continues. to be fair to timmy he was negotiating with erikson lubin, who withdrew, for the march date. timmy wasn't getting a big name for march after that fight fell through. a big name would need more time to set up & timmy wants to remain active. it seems no one at pbc has any idea what they are doing though. i mentioned in another thread when the amazon deal was announced that they should put timmy on their first card on march first, as the nrl has league in town that weekend & timmy would have a lot of support. they gain nothing from the end of march. it is noteworthy that timmy is on their first card though. i think timmy has a ppv deal in oz, so pbc won't be making much from ppv over hereQuote:

it's becoming a regular thing for timmy's opponents to fall through only weeks before they were due to happen. now he has to prepare for a six foot, six inch southpaw on twelve days notice. timmy really is that guy
What happens when you put all the stock in a semi-retired very inactive older fighter in hopes his name will appease the masses. Not to beat of Thurman but this was almost doomed from the start and it rolled out comically. Me I feel for Tszyu who is frankly an example that should be followed, line them up I'll fight them and do it regularly. And doing it as almost a secondary player in the eyes of promotion imo. Fundora in the circumstance is respectable and the differences in styles now can't be blown off. Fundora will meet volume with volume while climbing out of his own major setback. It'll be a firefight and can see Tim getting him out late. On a side note they need to reduce the ppv price and in the back of my mind I'm still waiting on JC Martinez to fall off the undercard for whatever reason ;D.
