Rafael Espinoza-Robeisy Ramirez II ~ Oscar Valdez-Emmanuel Navarrete II ESPN 11/7
Night of the rematches this Saturday. First off, this is going to be a seriously late card from the looks of it. Listed to go until Midnight possibly longer. The first Espinoza-Ramirez fight was mutually competitive and a solid fight with Espinoza snatching the 126 title away from the 2016 Olympic gold medalist and streaking Robeisy. Espinoza has grown on me as a sheer rangy buzzsaw fighter preferring inside work while not without flaws. Very "TV friendly" style. Ramirez returned from the loss this June with a dominate tko but will have to match the forced pace and not coast. He gets stuck in trying to be too cute and picking shots. Very good at it...but he's going to have to slow that volume of the champ down. This should be a solid fight.
Co main Navarrete v Valdez is a rematch if their 2023 fight and being honest a little bit of a head scratcher. At least as far as being necessary. First fight was fairly one sided and a wide decision with Valdez having minimal success. But in fairness Navarrete has gone 0-1-1 since and has not exactly looked stellar doing so. He'll be dropping back to 130...and half of me wouldn't be surprised if the scale is a problem...but we'll see. Always liked Valdez and he's well aware another lopsided loss here enters him into the other side of his career at the very top. No doubt he'll come in peak and fight with that exact attitude.

excited to see how rafael v robeisy plays out. i think robeisy will impress. no need for the other rematch but it's happening. emmanuel might struggle getting back down to super feather so that might make it interesting

Wasn't the first fight not even competitive? I'm much more excited for the Paro Hitchens fight to be honest.

Re: Rafael Espinoza-Robeisy Ramirez II ~ Oscar Valdez-Emmanuel Navarrete II ESPN 11/7
The 1st Ramirez-Espinoza fight was one of the most entertaining fights I had seen in a while. At first it looked like a blowout... but Espinoza came on like gangbusters, and showed a lot of grit and heart. I think Ramirez will perform well in this one, as he's definitely got the skills. But I think the familiarity will work in Espinoza's favor. A must-watch for sure.

It was actually very competitive. I believe I ended up having it a draw. You should check it out if you can find it. The RBR thread for 1 is down below v in 'similar threads'. Yeh the Paro fight sort of snuck up. Interesting to see how he looks off the Matias win.

Re: Rafael Espinoza-Robeisy Ramirez II ~ Oscar Valdez-Emmanuel Navarrete II ESPN 11/7
Navarrete made the weight. Actually lighter than Valdez :-X. Just walked into Giovani Santillan on his comeback trail blitzing a clearly worn & torn Fredrick Lawson in the 1st. Lawson makes it to the bell and simply tells the ref, nah I'm good I've had enough. 3rd tko loss in a row since Vergil Ortiz demolition. Someone needs to get in the ear of Lawson and more so the guys pushing him into these mid-high level fights and stop doing it. He has tell-tale signs of a shot fighter.

Anyone else's Espn app going to a Johnny Depp guitar add and simply staying there ???. This College game may bump it back even later :p. Once/if we get to 10:30-11 may just phase out that late.
Keyshawn indicating a February Berinchyk fight possibly in NY but nothing in stone. Slowly but surely Keyshawn is sounding like the adult in the room at 135.

richard torrez jr stopped issac gutierrez in the third round
-
Re: Rafael Espinoza-Robeisy Ramirez II ~ Oscar Valdez-Emmanuel Navarrete II ESPN 11/7
Got lost on the "live" not live stream bs. One second Torrez is entering the ring with Tim calling his music weird, I hit "live" and it's 30 minutes later :p. These 101 adds can really scramble things ffs.

Re: Rafael Espinoza-Robeisy Ramirez II ~ Oscar Valdez-Emmanuel Navarrete II ESPN 11/7
Much better 3rd round for Marinez v Delgado. Kept him ring center and worked the perimeter staying active.
-
Re: Rafael Espinoza-Robeisy Ramirez II ~ Oscar Valdez-Emmanuel Navarrete II ESPN 11/7
Lindalfo Delgado back in the 4th. But he gets snuck by overhand rights a bit.
-
Re: Rafael Espinoza-Robeisy Ramirez II ~ Oscar Valdez-Emmanuel Navarrete II ESPN 11/7
lindolfo delgado scored a fifth round stoppage of jackson marinez. dropping him twice in the fifth to force the ref to end it
-
Re: Rafael Espinoza-Robeisy Ramirez II ~ Oscar Valdez-Emmanuel Navarrete II ESPN 11/7
Oh Dalgado with the hard KD on Marinez. Follow up uppercut off the jab from the parking lot. Brutal ko win off the follow up body shot. Nice way to close.

Re: Rafael Espinoza-Robeisy Ramirez II ~ Oscar Valdez-Emmanuel Navarrete II ESPN 11/7
Got caught up in some neighborhood drama tonight and missed it, saw Espinoza on mute but looked like he just broke him down and then broke his will. Ramirez was trying some Dollar store Pernell Whitaker square up and get low but it caught up quick. Proper watch in store for tomorrow. Not looking good for Valdez here! Navarrete looks fluid and actually putting volume together, less lethargic.

doctor checks out oscar to start the fifth. corner saying oscar has injured his right foot. fifth to emanuel
-
Re: Rafael Espinoza-Robeisy Ramirez II ~ Oscar Valdez-Emmanuel Navarrete II ESPN 11/7
Decent mid 5th for Valdez until Navarrete grabs it back with long accurate power punching. Respect always to Oscar but he is being pieced up and Navarrete has sponged anything he has landed.
-
Re: Rafael Espinoza-Robeisy Ramirez II ~ Oscar Valdez-Emmanuel Navarrete II ESPN 11/7
oscar hurt with about a minute left in the sixth, big body shot from emanuel knocks oscar down, he stays down
-
Re: Rafael Espinoza-Robeisy Ramirez II ~ Oscar Valdez-Emmanuel Navarrete II ESPN 11/7
Oscar coming awfully close to a knee after that hellish combo. Ah shit down he goes off body shot! Brutal beatdown from Navarrete over in the 6th. Best he's looked in a long long time.

He vacates to go up? On range and reach alone it's a freak show. Shaq Foster also mentioned a Navarrete unification. Seems easy peazy to make too.

Re: Rafael Espinoza-Robeisy Ramirez II ~ Oscar Valdez-Emmanuel Navarrete II ESPN 11/7
i'm just thinking that top rank wants that wbo featherweight belt vacant so they can do bruce carrington v arnold khegai for the vacant belt. i noticed the broadcast showed his fight night weight, one forty four point six. i can see a move up

That's what you call a quit.
Robeisy - The two time time Olympic gold medallist from Cuba. When I heard that he was going PRO. I thought "This is the one"
But Olympic gold medal winners these days are kinda like American Idol or X Factor winners, they get to the top in the amateurs but don't do sh*t in the pro's
Cuban fighters have always interested me due to fact that none of them get to the very top. Go and compile a list of the top 30 fighters of the last 30 years and I doubt a Cuban will be in there, Sure bk in the day, most of them didn't go pro, but even when they have, none of them have truly broke through and become a name.
IMO - They are so amateur-friendly, the professional ranks shock them. They are training in an amateur manner for 10+ years. It's hard to simply break out of that. Top Cuban boxers are so used to beating everyone they fight that some have difficulty believing it's even possible to lose.
That's the feeling I get with Robiesy. In the professional ranks, you'll have fights were your skills are not enough then it's about will and we saw on Saturday, Robisey does not have that. Just like Rigo against Loma he wimped out
I also feel with Cuban fighters like Robeisy and Rigo and others has been deprived of a lifestyle that many Americans take for granted. Nice clothes, females, good food, party money, etc. These are all things that Cubans go nuts on because they don't get that thrown at them on the island.
And, let's not forget the most important thing that most Americans take for granted: FREEDOM. You take a young man that's never had these things in large quantities and you give them more than even most Americans have...it's like having too much cake. It's hard for them to get used to the culture shock. They come from nothing but a restricted lifestyle and have to bare this until they get to the USA. It's obvious as to why some of these fighters can't handle it.

"Robeisy Ramirez Has Orbital Fracture: Medical Examination Report Now Reveals After Espinoza Rematch"
The finish to this fight was so sudden and unexpected. I thought Robeisy was having a good start of the fight... using a great strategy to try and work Espinoza downstairs to the body. But Espinoza was coming on and was gaining momentum when the fight abruptly ended. I was as puzzled as everybody else. One of the announcers (don't remember who) was going off on Robeisy to the point of being speechless. He obviously felt Ramirez had flat out quit. Now it turns out Robeisy has an orbital bone fracture. I know we all want our boxers to be warriors and fight through injuries. But of all the injuries possibly sustained during a fight... I wonder how feasible it is for someone to fight through that kind of injury. Wasn't it Billy Joe Saunders who was cruising along against Clenelo when he suffered the same type of facial fracture? Again... not a doctor, or even an ex-fighter. But I have to wonder about this. It's sad, though. It becomes an instant blight on your career. The other announcer was pretty much pronouncing Ramirez as done for good. Wow. Not taking sides here. Just wondering out loud just how it would be if a fighter chose to fight through an orbital bone fracture. Sounds pretty dangerous, if you ask me. We were robbed of a good fight. Who knows what would've happened. Robeisy has mad skills... but Espinoza was coming on. It would've been an interesting rest of the fight.
