Chris Eubank Jr v Conor Benn

Chris Eubank Jr will fight Conor Benn in their long-awaited showdown in April in London, according to Saudi boxing organiser Turki Alalshikh.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a possible venue for the all-British fight which could take place on 26 April.

The bitter rivals were scheduled to meet in October 2022, which would have been 29 years after their revered fathers Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr fought for a second time.

However, the contest was called off after Conor Benn failed a voluntary drug test, which sparked a two-year battle with anti-doping authorities that culminated in his suspension being lifted last November.

Benn has posted a picture of himself signing a contract alongside his promoter Eddie Hearn and Alalshikh, who has organised some of the biggest fights in recent years as chairman of Saudi Arabia's general entertainment authority.

Posting the same picture, Hearn wrote: "The biggest fight in British boxing has been made."

In a post on X on Wednesday, Alalshikh wrote: "Eubank Jr vs Benn done in April, London."

The 35-year-old will be the favourite against 28-year-old Benn, who steps up from the welterweight limit of 10st 7lb (147lb) for the bout.

Benn has not fought in the UK since 2022, but he competed twice in the United States during his provisional suspension.

The Briton has always denied intentionally doping and will again be subject to Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (Vada) testing for the Eubank bout.

Eubank, who usually fights at middleweight, has one loss in his last nine outings but avenged that 2023 defeat to Liam Smith later that year.

Benn has not fought at an elite level but has an unbeaten record of 23 wins with 14 knockouts.

Why is Turki bothering with these turkeys ?

It's not a fight of any substance, it's one for the casuals. It's a novelty money fight and shows how they both view their careers. Eubank should be fighting Hamza Sheeraz....if he wanted a serious domestic scrap. Benn should be calling out Adam Azim, Lewis Crocker or Josh Kelly...if he wanted a serious domestic scrap.

But I'll still watch it.

I'm glad they're finally fighting so that once it's done we won't have to read endless will they/won't they stories as it's been one of the most boring, longest running 'feuds' in recent memory. I wasn't especially interested in the fight the first time around before the cancellation and it seems like the promoters are more excited about it than the fans about the fight no one wanted.

Alalshikh also confirmed some of the bouts on the undercard, including British light-heavyweight rivals Anthony Yarde and Lyndon Arthur completing their trilogy.

Arthur won the first meeting in 2020 with Yarde gaining revenge in 2021.

Bournemouth's Chris Billam-Smith faces American Brandon Glanton in his first contest since losing his WBO cruiserweight world title in a unification fight against WBA champion Gilberto Ramirez.

Former WBO light-middleweight champion Liam Smith, who has not fought since losing to Eubank in September 2023, takes on Ireland's Aaron McKenna, while British cruiserweights Viddal Riley and Cheavon Clarke will square off.

Chris Eubank Jr slapped Conor Benn across the face with an egg during a head-to-head at an extraordinary media conference in Manchester.

The British rivals - who will fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 26 April - at times acted like petulant children and hurled foul-mouthed insults at each other throughout the event.

Tension later filled the auditorium at the Manchester Central venue before the obligatory face-off.

The pair exchanged words close up, before Eubank produced an egg from his pocket and hit Benn across the cheek with his left hand.

An already volatile Benn, with his father Nigel next to him, lost control and both boxers were held back by security guards.

A scheduled fight between the pair in October 2022 was called off after Benn failed a voluntary drugs test, prompting a two-year battle with anti-doping authorities, before his suspension was lifted in November.

Benn has always denied intentionally doping and both fighters are being tested by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (Vada) for the contest.

An independent report by the WBC in February 2023 said his failed drugs test was not intentional and could have been caused by a "highly elevated consumption" of eggs.

"Apparently egg contamination was the reason for his two failed drugs tests. So I contaminated him with an egg," Eubank posted on social media with a clip of the incident.

Eubank made a slow entrance and demanded Benn be seated closer to him.

"I don't know who you think you're talking to," responded a twitchy Benn, dressed in a black silk pyjama-like outfit.

The fighters belittled each other's records, Eubank spoke about the injustice of a rehydration clause which means he cannot weigh more than 10lb more than the middleweight limit on fight night, and Benn said he would "render [Eubank] unconscious".

"I'm excited to end this man's career," said 28-year-old Benn, who has won all 23 of his fights, with 14 stoppages.

With 34 wins in a career spanning more than 13 years, Eubank, 35, has fought at a significantly higher level. His losses have come against former world champions Billy Joe Saunders, George Groves and Liam Smith.

"I'm going to beat him because I'm a better fighter in every department," he said.

Eubank and Benn have reignited a family rivalry after their hall-of-fame fathers fought for a second time almost 32 years ago.

Eubank Sr was not in attendance, however, and appears reluctant to be involved in the promotion of the fight.

"The bottom line is that his dad does not even like him," said Benn.

As the war of words continued, Nigel Benn and Eubank's team, including promoter Ben Shalom, remained quiet.

But Eubank took particular aim at Benn's promoter, Eddie Hearn, who refused to back down.

"This is not the Eddie Hearn show," he said, talking over Hearn every time the Matchroom chairman spoke as a standoff ensued.

It is unlikely the Manchester Central Auditorium - which usually caters for corporate events - has seen such histrionics.

Benn v Eubank is a bloodline rivalry which has transitioned into bona-fide hatred. Put these two volatile Englishmen together in any room and the chances of it kicking off are extremely high.

Asked by BBC Sport before the media conference what he thought of his opponent, Benn - without hesitation - replied: "Idiot."

We expected a push or maybe some insults which crossed the line, but Eubank's actions caught everybody by surprise.

The pair are set to face off again at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday. The security firm used by organisers may need to call on a few more staff.

Chris was out of order doing what he did. I guess he was using the eggs because of the drug results but that was a ridiculous move to slap Benn with an egg.

The fight has sold out Spurs football ground already but this egg slap will help with PPV sales.

It is funny how they both are critical of one another's career during the press conference. Essentially saying the fight is not worth it and how it is easy money for each other.

I have no real interest in Eubank Jr. vs. Benn. Eubank has talent but has squandered it, while Benn has looked ordinary since his "eggcident." Neither fighter excites me, and the matchup doesn’t feel worthy of the hype it's getting.

It is huge over here because of their dad's rivalry. These two are poor versions and trying to make money from their legacies. This is closer to a Logan Paul fight than Bivol v Beterbiev.

I'll say this. They're selling this fight well. Really does remind you of the good old days when their dads captivated the nation with their rivalry. Great to see the respect and bond between Nigel and Chris these dates with both admitting that the other is one of the most important people in their lives.

Not sure what attention or interest this will get overseas mind as neither I believe are a threat on the world stage.

Conor has mentioned David Haney, Garcia and Tank but think he will not go there.

Eubank Jnr has mentioned names but will want to face Canelo and retire.

Chris Eubank Jr has been fined £100,000 after hitting fellow British boxer Conor Benn in the face with an egg during a heated exchange in the build-up to next month's grudge match.

The British Boxing Board of Control said in a statement: "Following a hearing before the stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control, Chris Eubank Jnr was found to be in breach of regulation 25 (misconduct) for his conduct at the press conference in Manchester for the Chris Eubank Jnr v Conor Benn contest on 26th April, 2025.

"As such, the stewards of the board fined Chris Eubank Jnr the sum of £100,000."

Eubank, 35, who has a 34-3 record, defended his actions two days later at a second media event.

He said: "Did I cross the line? During this whole process I think many lines have been crossed.

"So me throwing an egg at somebody who absurdly claims that was the reason why he failed two drugs tests, I think that's light, I think he deserved the embarrassment of what happened. If I had an opportunity to do it again then I would.

"Unfortunately, I come unarmed today. I've been searched multiple times and I couldn't sneak any in."

This is just one step up from a YouTube fight.

Anybody who steps into a ring is brave and at least these two are actually professional fighters …….. but……

Surely nobody really thinks either of these guys would get anything like the media coverage they have had if they were not called Benn or Eubank.

Now, both their dads really were fantastic and skilled fighters, but the sons less so.

Connor is much much smaller than Eubank, he is jumping up couple of divisions without growing into the higher weights. His resume is packed with journeymen without a real name on there at all. Then there is the egg issue.

Eubank is a decent middling European level talent, he has never quite had what it takes to be elite or world class and he has shown quite some slippage recently. This is a cash in fight for him.

Yarde is on the undercard and glad he is fighting on a high profile show. I like this video of his going back to his childhood in London. It was very enjoyable.

Is a fighter missing the agreed weight and still having to make a rehydration check really safer than using same-day weigh-ins? That kind of strain can be just as dangerous. If Benn beats an obviously weight-drained opponent, how much credit can he really claim? The whole situation reeks of desperation to force this fight through—another example of how the business side continues to undercut the integrity of boxing.

I hate myself for being excited about this event.

This fight has hit the mainstream media and all because of their father's rivalry.

All week I have seen the 18ft ring size being an issue, 1/2 ounce over weight and rehydration clause come into play. I now feeling Conor may win.
