Manufactured Fights that no real boxing fan wants to see
I am sure I started a thread like this but can not find it.
All fights are manufactured to some extent but what are the ones that are engineered where there is no real interest from hard core fans because they have no meaning yet still get made because there is money to be made?
Re: Manufactured Fights that no real boxing fan wants to see
Manny vs Mayweather when it finally happened ;D
Re: Manufactured Fights that no real boxing fan wants to see
Benn v Eubank Jnr is a silly fight.
Two weight divisions apart and neither remotely going anywhere in their respective divisions selling the fight based on their dad's names.
Yet it will fill the arena.
Re: Manufactured Fights that no real boxing fan wants to see
Joshua v Wilder. What is the point? Wilder got beat by Fury, Parker and Zhang. How the fuck does he have any relevance to anything.
Joshua got beat bad by Dubois. I have no problem with him giving it another go, but it has to be with a view to getting back up there.
He doesn’t have to rematch Dubois immediately, but that has to be the end game, otherwise don’t bother.

Guess it's better under the more accurate header.

No way will Canelo face Logan/Jake Paul you tuber. Not until he has long retired.
If this fight happens. I quit on watching boxing.
Re: Manufactured Fights that no real boxing fan wants to see
You're safe. That fight is now canceled. Now he's back to fighting Crawford as part of a 4-fight package deal, with Crawford probably being saved for September's Mexico independence day or something like that.
Stay tuned. ;)

Re: Manufactured Fights that no real boxing fan wants to see
The title of the thread says "wants to see", instead of "wanted to see." So to me, it's future, rather than past.
Going on that premise, my answer would be:
Canelo vs. ANYBODY but Benavidez.
Give the people what they have been clamoring for, Ginger.
If we're going past... I could've done without Tyson vs RJJ. I loved Roy... but he looked like a paunchy, middle-aged ex-boxer in that fight (or rather, exhibition).
Re: Manufactured Fights that no real boxing fan wants to see
Fury v Chisora 2 and 3. What a waste of a fight.
Re: Manufactured Fights that no real boxing fan wants to see
Odd the think...but Butterbean v Tyson was actually a thing for a day or two. Possibly months if we had Twatter back then ;D
Re: Manufactured Fights that no real boxing fan wants to see
Canelo v Crawford is a manufactured super fight. Crawford is p4p great champion of our generation but this jump is too big. He can build muscle all he wants but he is not going to dent Saul.
We have seen Charlo fail and he was a unified career light middle champion.

Agree with all the above …… also Ali v Antonio Inoki, Foreman v those 5 guys, Dempsey v Tommy Gibbons. And there are more
Boxing has always had an air of a vaudeville circus around it, this is not something new!

That is all true but no one was taking them as serious boxing matchups.

Had no idea about Dempsey-Gibbons. Was that like the financial blow up afterwards or weight? Gets you thinking about the initial days of boxing meeting first regular media exposure. Pretty sure I read about one of the eras top guys boxing a bear once ;D. Jack Jackson vs Ketchel maybe?
Great call on Foreman. The Toronto five and some rehabilitation soft comeback for George after Ali. They had Cosell on it and Ali on the mic ;D! I guess one plus was about 4 of those guys were at least actual journeymen fighters, all with experience. He had already knocked one out but on that night none of them went on Foremans record as legit wins.
