Really tough fight for Ennis. This is a stern test for Boots. I can see stanionis causing Boots all kinda of problems. Really tough fight for Ennis. I can see stanionis puling off the upset. But two champs putting on line in a unification bout.
It is a really good fight and a long time coming. Look...as much as I love Boots and have been on that train for some time...he has one of the shallowest records of any current champ today :-X. Just a fact. And this is a fighter more than a few were leaning to vs Bud once. That doesn't diminish his clear talent or obvious natural athleticism, he's always had a natural reflex to him. The problem is there's not exactly a top tier run of guys he's had to show it against and find his gears. Last time out imo he took a step backwards even in a win vs Karen. But tbf I thought just taking the rematch was a backwards step. That's on sanctioning and Eddie. Boots gets lax on defense to 'make the show' but just gets hit with silly shots on occasion. Bad habits can become trained-in if you're not careful. All that run on skepticism aside, why tf can't I just give a one sentence answer ;D, I think Boots still beats Stanionis. But I don't see him outhustling Stanionis and he can't posture and wait for the highlight reel uppercut either. Make it physical. Very solid fight glad we're getting it.
Dis fight's lowkey fire, fam. Stanionis might just flip the script on 'em!
This is the best matchup at 147 in my eyes. I like both fighters, but I lean toward Boots. Stanionis has been far too inactive, and unless he scores a KO, I worry the cards won’t favor him. It’s the toughest test yet for each man, and the best possible opponent for both. No easy night either way.
Surprised there’s not more hype around this fight—it’s a high-stakes clash between two unbeaten welterweights. Is anyone backing Stanionis here? He’s tough, durable, and brings pressure, but the long layoff and facing someone like Boots makes it a huge ask. Still, he’s no walkover.
Dis be a boss-level throwdown. Both homies got killer jabs, and I’m ready for a straight-up war, kinda like De La Hoya vs Quartey. Ain't sure if Stanionis’ mug gon' hold up for all 12 rounds, he gets marked up quick, and that might bite him later. No matter how it shakes out, I reckon this gotta be Boots' last hustle at 147. Time to level up to 154
Eimantas Stanionis has not fought since May last year that may hurt him. This fight is on late but would like to watch this live.
Really like the professional composure of these two leading in, no silly slap fights and antics at pressers. Just all business. Somebody pinch me...a 'big fight', in the States primetime Saturday night! What year is this again ;D. Mattice v Ford in co main can only be a good scrap. Has that feel all over it.
Giyasov is putting a beating on Franco Ocampo into the 4th round.
Random but whatever happened to the blue red and white ring ropes. It's gradually transitioned into the ropes now being basically billboards for advertisement. The things are massive now
Ocampo takes a huge body shot end of 4th and stays down on hands and knees taking the full 10 count.
Ouch. Olympian Omari Jones in a showcase next. Don't blink. Opponent has gone all of 0-3-1 over the last 11 years :tombstone:
Interview lasted longer than the fight for Jones. Nice kid level headed. But there's a pattern today where they insist on airing every single wink wink early padding fight for prospects and it can come back to bite them. Almost become over exposed before natural development in a way...hello Berlanga.
Ford is a fun fighter just going to watch this one.
ray v thomas is good through two
Ford in control into 3rd. Noticeable power and speed reflex difference. Straight right hand downward might do well for Mattice but he's all a step behind here.
ray got that quickness
Honestly thought we'd see a little more from Mattice but credit to Ford. Pitching shut out into the 7th. Mattice just throwing up the Winky Wright high guard and almost making more faces than throwing punches. Literally rushing to stand in front of Ford in gaps.
gave thomas the nineth
Crowd raining down the boos and jeers as 10th concludes. Turned into bit of a pose-off competition and wink n nod. Can't get them all right I spose ;D
gave ray nine out of the ten rounds
Wow. Mattice credited with landing just 24 punches over ten rounds. Never put much stock in punch stats though. But seemed accurate ;D
Yeh got to say, regardless of outcome I'm glad Boots stayed put at 147 in favor of perusing unifications. I'll always favor beating fellow champs trying to sweep a division over division jumps, for the most part. His conditioning was not the problem last fight, it was his defense and complacency. He may very well find Stanionis surprising on the inside though. But ring rust is a real question for Stanionis. Just want a solid no bs fight.
boots looking good. gave him the first two rounds
Heated up big time in 2nd. 1st to Stan and 2nd Boots. Boots settling in close and showing the speed. But man, he gets wide in spots and open. Always about that showmanship. Fun stuff
was that a knockdown on boots?
nah replay shows he was pulled down
the fifth was eimantas' best round. boots finished the round strong. i've give all five to boots
Eimantas down late in the sixth. makes it to the bell
eimantas' corner waives it off
Very well executed break down and beat up from Ennis. Man has incredible reflexes and smelled blood and pressed all advantages on it. It took forever career wise imo but finally feels like he got his 'breakout' W.
Jason Ennis is huge for the weight. I do not know how they make the weight. I can see him move up if he can not get the big names at the weight because he would beat them.
tried to post these last night but couldn't get on the site

Totally wrong on my prediction that this’ll be a tough fight for Jaron..
I rate Stannois and I think this victory will age well.
154 is a clogged cesspool with killers and Jaron’s real challenge will probably be there because for the first time he'll be fighting guys his own size who can punch but Boots does not have the swizz cheese defense many think he has.
He rolls with punches so they don’t have the same impact but the biggest thing Jaron has going for him is that in order to hit him you gotta (As Teddy Atlas famously says) “wallk thru a bad neighbourhood were you might get mugged” and that’s thing with Jaron his mix of hand speed, foot work and stance switching means that he’ll mug you as you try to get in range and throw.
I think Boots will carve his own legacy with 3x undisputed at 147, 154, 160. Boots vs Janibek is a future super fight, u call me crazy until it happens and I will laugh at all of u
Boots biggest weakness maybe that as he ages, is that he's a Philly fighter through and through in the Meldrick Taylor mould. Will his style will age well as he relies a lot on his his athleticism and reaction time to dodge punches ? We'll see
I think many are making too much of the 'Boots gets hit too much' narrative. Sure, his defense isn’t flawless, but as Denilson3.0 pointed out, Boots isn’t taking those shots clean. He’s not just standing there letting himself get hit — he’s firing back with his own bombs.
