Bakhram Murtazaliev vs Josh Kelly

Josh Kelly has a tough task on his hands to try and win a Super Welterweight IBF world title. He does have home advantage in a fight at Newcastle and a smart trainer in Adam Booth so they must think they can win this.

The undefeated Murtazaliev will be making his 2nd defense of the IBF World Junior Middleweight Championship. He won this belt against Jack Culcay in April 2024.

Also on the undercard will be Josh Padley's and Jaouad Belmehdi's contest, and Elif Nur Turhan's and Taylah Gentzen's bout.

I am surprised that Murtazaliev has not fought since he annihilated Tszyu. If he carries that form into this fight he will wipe away Josh.

First round was cautious from both but then both let loose with Kelly getting hit by a big right hand.

even after two rounds

Kelly may have sneaked round 2 getting some good shots in on Murtazaliev st the end of the round.

Murtazaliev lands left hook to win round 3.

josh gets a knockdown in the fourth

Josh lands a sneaky jab to knock down Murtazaliev in the 4th round.

even in rounds after four, josh has the knockdown as well

Josh lands big right hand at the end of round 5 to win the round. He may pull this off.

Josh staying out of range and landing fast counters to win round 6. He is ahead but can he keep it up?

Josh running too much and showboating in round 7. Murtazaliev not really landing so hate to give either the round.

Josh wins round 8 by hitting and running.

Josh knocked down with a left hook in round 9 and momentum changes.

tenth to bakhram

Murtazaliev strong in round 10. I have it even now.

eleventh to josh

Round 11 could be anyone’s Josh boxed well but Murtazaliev landed better.

Murtazaliev more aggressive to win the last round.

I have it even 6 all.

twelfth to bakhram, i have it a draw

Josh wins by majority decision with one judge having it a draw.

As the flat squirrel said the bumper of the passing car, I did not see that coming. I thought it would be decent, but Kelly would come up soundly short. This is why they fight the fights as they say.

Josh did well to win the title especially coming from that knock down in round 9.

No way Josh will take on Ennis. Booth will keep him well away from Boots.

Kelly will have an easy defence and try and fill out an arena first to build up his profile.

i hope josh doen't milk the belt & goes after big fights, that unification with xander is winnable

Josh is allowed to have one easy defence in his hometown. If he looks impressive then unify but the weight is the strongest for opposition. Kelly will not have the title for long. Enjoy it and make sure you get the most money you can.
