Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
Former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury will face Arslanbek Makhmudov in the UK on 11 April as he ends his latest spell of retirement.
The fight, which will be broadcast on Netflix, will be Fury's first since he lost his rematch with unified champion Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024.
The Briton, 37, retired a month after that defeat but announced his return to boxing earlier this month.
"Excited to be back," Fury said.
"Heart's always been and always will be in boxing. Someone go tell the king that the ace is back!"
Russian Makhmudov, 36, has won 21 of his 23 fights and beat Briton Dave Allen in his last bout in October.
Fury, who announced his retirement for the first time in 2022, has not fought in the UK since December 2022 when he beat Derek Chisora at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to retain the WBC title.
The Morecambe fighter has 34 victories from 37 fights - winning 24 by knockout - losing two and drawing one.
He has enjoyed two stints as world champion, beating Wladimir Klitschko to win the WBA (Super), IBF and WBO belts in 2015 and claiming the WBC title in 2020 with victory over Deontay Wilder, but has never reigned as undisputed champion.
Fury's two career defeats came in successive bouts against Usyk in 2024 and he has spoken of a desire to avenge those losses this year.
It is also striking given Fury is promoted by Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions, who broadcast exclusively with Dazn. Yet Warren has allowed the Gypsy King to step outside that arrangement on this occasion.
"Tyson wants to return to the throne and I'm 100% behind him to do just that," Warren posted on X.
This marks Fury's first bout in the UK since December 2022, after three straight appearances in Saudi Arabia.
The number of shows taking place in Riyadh may be dwindling but the money and influence behind the sport remain Saudi-led. The fight is backed by Turki Alalshikh - chairman of Saudi's General Sports Authority - under the Ring Magazine banner.

Never even heard of this guy

Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
on netflix was interesting
-
Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
Makhmudov beat Dave Allen in his last fight and got stopped by Agit Kabayel who is now the second best heavyweight in the division.
Makhmudov is big, strong and throws a lot of punches. He has slow feet and is the perfect test for Fury in his first fight after 15 months out of the ring.
Netflix has taken on the biggest boxing contest recently so seem to have taken over DAZN.

taylor made for tyson, unless he clips him

It probably will be at the Manchester arena with 22000 watching on 11th April.

Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
Well I’ll be hoping Fury looks impressive to set up a Wardley fight
Think we all know we’ve seen his peak but we’ve written him off before
-
Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
Tyson Fury has suggested he is already at his target weight ahead of his comeback fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov.
He wrote: "Already on weight nine weeks out. I'm seriously going to smash Arslanbek Makhmudov."
The scales showed that he tipped the scales at 18 stone 11 pounds [263lbs].
It seems him already 18lbs lighter than he was for his second meeting with Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024.
Fury Sr said: "I am going to be more involved this time.
“And hear this, Tyson’s going to win the heavyweight championship for the third time, and you can bank your f***ing money on that!
“He’s not in fantastic shape, that’s bull****. But he will be.
"Have another look at him, because when I go out in the next week, there will be no more of this internet bull****, every move on the internet.
"Head down, work, and get a body. Learn to move again. Learn to twist and be awkward. Herky jerky.
"If it is fat, it matters. Anybody will tell you that. But listen, we know where we are going.
"I know where he went wrong. I know. And we are going to put it right."

Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
AN INCREDIBLE throwback photo of Tyson Fury posing with a then-unknown Arslanbek Makhmudov has resurfaced.
The image, shared online, shows the heavyweight stars smiling together at the Billy Joe Saunders vs David Lemieux fight night in Montreal back in 2017.
The Russian puncher, 36, posted the throwback with an emotional message, revealing how the moment symbolised a dream come true.
He wrote: “10 years ago I took a photo as a fan, today we are already opponents in the ring!
“This is the moment when the dream comes true! And if the Lord has led this fight to me, he will bring victory for me Insha’Allah.”
Fury himself responded to the resurfaced memory, explaining the snap was taken during what he described as a “terrible time away from boxing.”
The Gypsy King replied: “This was 2017 in Montreal, it was during my terrible time away from boxing.
“God works in mysterious ways and brings people together unexpectedly, whatever God has planned for us will be!”
Fury has previously spoken openly about his struggles with his mental health, when he was out of the sport before eventually returning to reclaim his place at the top of the heavyweight division.

Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
Spurs stadium fight ffs.
I'd say they won't sell it out but what do I know. And the ppv numbers will probably follow.
I want Fury gone but really want Wardley to be the one to do that. Then again I don't want Fury giving it the big one after a good win.
And I wouldn't bet against him proving himself to be the best to face Usyk again.... It's a funny old game

i know you don't really follow boxing closely these days but what would that take in your opinion realistically? who do you think he should beat to do that & what are the chances of those fights happening?

Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
Well he has to win this one then take Wardley Dubois winner. If he comes through that then he's prime candidate for facing Usyk. Who else is there? Kabayel will be avoided
I want to see Moses come through as the next champion but too soon imo for him to be thrown in against Fury or Usyk.
Who else is there.
-
Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
If Fury beats Wardley then he deserves Usyk. The Ukrainian has cleverly said win the title and Fury can face him again in a unification.
Fabio is a dangerous challenge for anyone.
AJ is the only other option for Fury.
-
Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
AJ is a money option. Nothing more. Is AJ even going to fight again.

yeah obviously he has to beat arslanbek, losing to him wouldn't be proving himself to be the best to face Usyk again
your posting makes master look like the casual
i agree the fabio/ daniel winner would be a good start but i disagree that a win there would make tyson the prime candidate for facing oleksandr, you're right that agit might be avoided or oleksandr might get him first instead of losing another belt. for me agit is currently the most deserving, if tyson leapfrogs him or the fabio/ daniel winner, which is possible because of the money he'll bring i'll be disappointed

Yes after Agit who is the number one contender after Parker lost to Wardley.

You will be disappointed then. Money rules now you know this. Stadiums, ppvs etc not too long ago Parker was the most deserving to get Usyk in boxing terms but there was no way the Saudis were going to give him his shot. Wardley did them a favour.
Fury wins those two he’s the big sell for Wembley and Usyk. I’m not convinced AJ will fight again so someone is going to have to tackle Kabayel.

i don't think tyson needs to win those two to be the big sell, he could just as easily snag murat gassiev's belt & they'll spin it so that tyson gets a shot at oleksandr ahead of agit & the fabio/ daniel winner

Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
Would fool the casual fan and it's what the match makers ultimately want so maybe yeah
I see his arsehole dad is back seeking attention. What an absolute bellend
-
Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
does his dad ever get fined, arrested or banned?
-
Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
No just makes a constant fool of himself. See the way he mouthed off to Froch and Lennox ffs
-
Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
i didn't see it but read he wasn't happy with carl, i remember he headbutted one of oleksandrs team members
-
Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
Tyson Fury dad made a tit of himself. He made a load of noise and went down to confront Froch who was ready and he swerved away which is embarrassing for him.
Lennox was standing next to Froch, both working for Netflix now, so I can understand why John got scared.

Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
Fury is taking a big chance not retaining his trainer Sugar Hill.
"I don't need a trainer, I don't need a nutritionist, I don't need a mind coach, I don't need a sleep coach and I definitely don't need a strength coach," he said.
"Here's what I need in boxing - someone to wash my gumshield out and give me some water between rounds, and give me a smear of Vaseline across the eyes, and leave the rest to me.
"[I've got a] PhD in boxing."
"I'm 37 years old, been inactive 16 months, which is a massive factor," he said.
"I did it before with three years out the ring but I was only 29. Now I'm an older person, a pensioner really."
He added: "I bring the X factor to this game and there's nobody else alive today that can and bring more X factor to boxing than Tyson Fury."

Re: Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov
I really hope Prograis wins this. Conor has a self inflated opinion of how good he is and I am hoping his career plans take a downturn.
"Last time I fought in London, Conor Benn was on my undercard, so this is a full-circle moment for me," said American former light-welterweight world champion Prograis.
"But this circle will close with me teaching him a lesson.
"He's not fighting some weight-drained super middleweight. I am in shape and will bring home this victory."

That is terrible. Does Conor need all these advantages to win? Very insecure.

"I found out about the fight a few days ago; it came out of the blue," Progrias told Gareth A. Davies and Johnny Nelson on talkSPORT Fight Night.
"I got a call from somebody, and they said Conor Benn could be on the table for me to fight him.
"So I said, 'Alright, cool'. At first, I was like 'Okay, I know Conor Benn is a little bigger than me'.
"Of course, I've been at 140lbs my whole career, I won belts twice at 140lbs, so my goal was to go up to 147lbs.
"I wanted to do it the right way at first by going to 145lbs and then going to 147lbs, but they offered this fight at 150lbs.
"When they did say that, I said, 'Can we make this fight at 147lbs?' And they said no.
"I said, 'What about 149lbs?' And they said no.
"So I said 'What about the weight stipulation?' I know he had a [rehydration clause] with Chris Eubank Jr in his last fight.
"And they said no. At first, I said 'Maybe not'. But the next day, I told my manager Brian Peters, 'Let's get the fight'.
"Of course, because of the weight, we got a few more dollars.
"But I do feel like I am better than Conor Benn, I feel like I can beat him, so they made the fight happen quickly."
