Should destroyed Lacy hang up his gloves or continues his pro run? I guess that it should be clear to all now that he will never be a world beater but he could still make some money as a gatekeeper or journey man.

nah he could still be a force at smw 21-1 is still a decent record so he will never be a journeyman
No he should not. He got beaten by a man who was underrated,a hall of famer and world class fighter,no shame in that. Calzaghe would have smacked anyone in the division that night, even Kessler. If Joe moves up, I still see Lacy beating anyone else in the division,he just needs to be there mentally because a beating like that can take away from self belief.
I think Harrison should give up before Lacy.
Jeff just needs decent people with common sense, I think calzaghe would be too much for him no matter but under someone telling him hes not the next coming of Iron Mike Tyson (I cant believe Shaw actualy said that ::**) Then he might do something.
Having said about the Tyson thing it wouldnt be a bad idea to see what Rooney could do with him, Birmingham sure as hell doesnt have a clue.
You cant argue that Birmingham is the reason for Winkys success because Winky has a very basic style, Vargas beat him, Vasquez battered him and I think Taylor is going to be too big for him
no ::**
He showed great heart during the calzaghe fight, Id like to see more of him.
No Kessler fan he should not.Quote:

Fighters have been beaten & knocked & made comebacks. Lacy was only beaten...surely he did suffer by being outclassed...but 168 is pretty much wide open if he steps away from Kessler.
The loss could have been the best thing for Lacy. As Calzaghe himself said...Lacy is a talent & he will comeback. All credit to Joe...that performance was masterful...but he was in another zone mentally. 150% focused...Joe was incredible.
Lacy just lost his game once he realized that his power wasn't taking Joe out. Had Lacy worked on his defense...he might have had a chance. It's not like he never connected on Joe. I just watched it this morning before work & Lacy was showing spots...especially in the first round where I thought he was going to do a lot better than I initially thought...but again...he lost his game plan once he cracked Joe & Joe stayed in front of him.
Joe never gave him an inch of room & when he did...when he was back pedaling...he was popping Jeff.
Lacy will come back...but he better never take a rematch with Joe...defense improved or not.
:coolclick: Very well said.Quote:

Joe Calzaghe exposes a lot of fighters and can make anyone look like they don't belong in the same ring with him, Lacy was one of those people. Losing to Joe Calzaghe is nothing to be ashamed of, and Lacy could learn more from that loss to make him a better fighter then he would have if he had knocked out Joe.
What Joe did to Lacy actually gives Lacy a better chance in the future of the best to expect which will make him more prepared, had he never tasted Joe Calzaghe, he may have never gotten further then the Lacy we saw against Wiggins.
no he shouldnt retire at all, one loss to a great fighter is nothin to retire over.
He had never tasted P4P #1 before :)Quote:

No way should Left Hook retire....He just needs to work his way back up to the top and gain more confidence before fighting for another belt. He was just overated before hand now he can work with no media pressure on his shoulders.
Neither had Calzaghe. ;DQuote:

Clearly he should. Too bad Ali , LL , BH , etc......... hadnt done the same when they had their first loss................. ::**
I have no problem with Jeff continuing boxing, but I think that it already now must be extremely clear to Lacy and his management that their goals are not achievable; being the undisputed ruler of 3 divisions and future ATG and you just name it. I think that Jeff in a TV show showed the 3 closets he had bought for the belts of the different divisions. One closet for each division he would clean out.
Come you guys, don’t you think it is funny that a guy who had met absolutely no one at the time acts like the above?
Oh no of course you do not find it funny cause most of you guys actually believed him ;)
Whilst I think Jeff maybe damaged goods like Grant was after Lewis , I do reckon it would be a waste for Jeff to quit now before his career has really started .
Before Joe he was a good fighter up and coming who was learning his trade and getting better with every performance . His technique was improving and he carried K.o power in his left hook . Unfortunatley , his money men saw it fit to send him to England far too soon and Jeff found himslef in the lions den in with a guy with much moere experience and much faster hands . He must have summond up all his courage to negotiate those 12 rounds of pain but he got through it and now he is reflecting . The memorys will never leave him so now he is questioning if he is as good as people were telling him or will he turn out to be another Omar Sheika .
If he can comeback to K.o a named opppnent . Restore his confidaence he can rise again . It will help him if Joe dpearts the scene otherwise that will always hang over him
Maybe he should, Calzaghe Tore him a new hole :-[ :'(
Those of you that think he should retire from one loss ...that is a RETARDED suggestion...and its why your not a champion or an ex champion and never will be because u have that mantality ..... if you were him YOU would Retire is all your saying ...he got where he got cause he wasnt a quitter .....non of you who think he should retire would get there cause you would retire the 1st time u get ur a$$ handed to you in an amature match
Hell no he shouldn't retire. He is still a devastating fighter who can come back from this loss and be a champion again. Besides, he still needs to kick Jermain Taylor's ass.
I think he is an extremely brave and proud guy. Whether he can ever come back fully from such a comprehensive beating who knows! I think with a new corner, coz his were horrendous he can come back and be a force. You have to remember JC had been a world champion for 4 years before Lacy even turned pro, so it was a huge step up after 20 odd fights!!
Yes but it was a step many of us(myself included) thought he could take. I was shocked that he was shut down so completely, it was like Tito vs Wright all over again.Quote:

and decides his own pace
calzaghe is just a different class and he came too soon
Totally agree m8Quote:

Even if he is damaged a little bit, he can and will still win another title.
LOL i think its funny someone sad clicked me but couldnt come up with a response to say i was wrong saying that the reason they would never be where Lacy is is because they are QuittersQuote:

I know what you are saying, coz a lot of people have been very quick to trash talk Lacy, when before the fight he was the second coming, but there were also a lot of people (basically all the Britks & Wacko) that were giving credit to JC and questioning Lacy's opposition and whether it was a step too far too early.
I admit, I called it 50-50, and I was very disappointed with Lacy, coz against Reid he looked fantastic in all departments.
I think Royal should call it a day
no. watch the fight then say that.Quote:

He said it himself, he needs to improve his boxing skills. If he does that he could come back a much better fighter
You might be right, but at the age of 28/29 and after more than 250 fights I guess it is hard to improve that much. Just my guess.Quote:

I really cant ever see Lacy beating an A+ fighter at this point though he always has a punchers chance i guessQuote:
