ive got a fight on 20th april in stockport. will it still go ahead cos ive just got a black eye in sparring this evening?
How bads the black eye and what was your coach doing giving you heavy sparring 2 days before a bout? ;)
Should be OK, they let one of our lads fight with a broken nose he got in a bout a week before hand. Is it swollen or just bruised? in 2 days time it'll probably still be there because its trapped blood but it will be superficial.
it wasnt heavy at all it was just a move around lol i walked in2 a left hook and its swollen quite bad but i'm not sure wat i should do now?
Run some arnacha (I think thats how its spelled) on it and don't touch it and hope for the best.
On fight night don't worry about it... you'll get stressed when you should preparing your mind to fight... if you get in you get in, if you don't, you don't.
cheers buddy now all i have to do now is win ;D
You will, don't try not to loose. Try to win! :P
it seems like a tough fight goin on his backdoor and him weighin 13 stone 3 lol but ive trained for everyday of these hols in 3 minuite rounds so i feel fit enough for it just a shame boat the eye
You'll be fine, I fought a lad at his home show in a massive sports center (temple park in south sheilds) must of had about 30 people there just for him and because he was local the crowd where with him any way. I weighed in a pound or two lighter than he did and knocked him out with my firs shot... ;)
lol you know the first 30 secs of the fight shud i took in very tight or play his most probable game goin mad
Size him up at teh weigh in, try nd figure out how he's going to fight. Get a gameplan and tri to be aware of what if working against him. Yeah, you want to defend but you don't want to defend to a point where it gets stopped (refs can play it very safe) or you let him get to far ahead.
Be first with your shots just don't go nuts. once you feel you are ahead on points make him come to you. both times I've lost its been because I;ve pushed the fight 100% of every round and gotten caught coming in when I could of sat back and done the same. Its not nice loosing on 1 punch like I have... esspecially seeing as how subjective judging can be. keep working and keep a level head.
Wasn't scared for my first but I was so hyped and up for it I just walked forwards trying to catch his body with this right hook I;ve developed... bad game plan to start with but when he was on teh back foot... I didn't adapt my game plan and I didn't even notice he was a south paw till they last round (my brothers a south paw... spar him all the time so my trainer asumed I'd noticed)
cheers for the advice ill try and use it on thur ill post you on how i get on on friday ;D
good stuff :) just treat it as a learning experience no matter what happens. I've had 5 bouts so far, probably ment to of had about 10... mental preperation during the day and weigh in etc is something you learn from experience.
You been to a show before? it definetly helps.
depens if your a child ( meaning under 17 )
to go to a boxing show? normally your club will take you to one. Plenty of juniors from my club went just to support the lands this season.
the fight is 2nite ;D
Good luck mate :) What ever happens you've done well just stepping in between the ropes and onto the canvas... ;)
adam gb the fight was going really well until the 2nd and he popped my nose and the ref stopped it :'( he was 6 foot 3 and he was 13 stone 5 and i was 6 foot and 12 stone 9 which was very strange. but anyways cheers for the help and im fighting again on may 5th so ill keep you posted
Well done for getting in there :) It happens, refs have to be really carefull. You lost but you haven't been beat ;)
are you sure the weights where right? sounds like he was just over the light heavyweight limit and you where just under it
oh and have a cool click, by the way now you've got 100 posts... have a word with saddo about somehwere you are aloud to go on here now :)
i coundt belive i was 12 stone 9 lol im happy with that but my nose was really bleeding alot and it was very close until the stoppage he had the hight and weight adavantage as well which didnt help i was really confident but now im just gutted i think next season ill have 2 fight 12 stone cos thats what i should be at my nose does hurt alot lol
as long as you think you can loose 9 stone and still stay strong... :) weight loss generally has more dissadvantages than advantages unless you're out of shape.
Don't worry about your loss though, you're not a fully trained boxer, its all part of learning the sport.... :)
if it had gone the 3 rounds i think he would have won it but im not feeling comfortable fighting somebody at 13 stone 5 i rekon i could by the end of the summer get down 2 12 and still be ok
speak to your coach. at 12.9 the heaviest you should figh agianst should only be about 13 stone. maybe the weights where wrong... at shows like that they can let the odd couple of kg go... ::**
the fucked kept on holdin and hittin me >:mad
Don't worry about it :) Most people loose there first fight. I lost mine on I think 2-3 punches then went on to win 3 in a row. 1 by knock out... one where the kid had to go to hospital for his nose (and tbh if he hadn't clinched through 70% of the fight he'd of ben KOd) and fight which was basically a compressed rumble in the jungle (well newcastle) :P
its up to the doctor
The doctor is there for safety and to give his opinion to the ref if he asks for it which the ref will listen to 99.9% of the time. Everything goes through the ref.
adam gb im fighting this friday at the adelphi hotel in liverpool shud b a good one.but 1 thing is worrying me i think im to underweight for the fight. what should i do?
Well, you can't make your self heavier in 3-4 days... not efficient weight any way... My advice... Don't worry about it :)
Just means you can eat and drink the way you want to before the weigh in... a few bouts I've been stressed before after and during the weigh because I was either overweight of nearly overweight... ;)
Up to the doctor he'll exam you before the fight and say ya or na.Quote:

adam gb- i didnt fight 2nite cos i was 2 much. my traineer didnt tell me i was suppose 2 b 80 kg. which i wasnt told. im fighting the same lad again in 10 days. but 1 thing i was happy about was i got a picture of me and david price on my fone. he is a big fuker. very nice guy like.
Ah well, you also practiced going through the motions of assuming you where fighting during the day... thats half the battle... trust me... ;)
A remedy for cuts and bruising. Get arnica cream mixed with calandula cream, its a homeopathic mix and is brilliant repairs cuts and bruising in no time
Arnicas great, neve used the other stuff but I will the netxt time I get a black eye...
nothin really to do w/ the topic but my left eye swelled up like i went 12 pro rounds or somthin b4 from sparring and i was worried i had some kinda chronic swelling problem ..anyway it was an ingrown eye brow and it just got irritated ...some weird sh*t ...anyway i had to pluck it out and it was better
all set for 2moz nite no injury worries and ive made the weight just waiting for the fight now ;D
