Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
http://www.fightnews.com/fightnews_2...AvMBAiklV.html
Mayorga: I'll KO Oscar in 6!
"I have been sparring with live chickens as they emulate 'chicken' De La Hoya best. They run just like he does. Most people don't understand that of all the fighters in boxing, Oscar is the one I like least. He's a pretty boy and it makes me want to defeat him.
"He shouldn't have gone down from that body shot that Bernard Hopkins threw. Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight.
"If he's a man like he says he is, he should show his Mexican pride and fight with me. I know he is not the fighter he once was but he can still stand and fight me like a man.
"My strategy is to have a larger punch output and knock Oscar out. I don't want to hear him back out of the fight because his butt hurts or he hurt his pinky finger. I want him to come to fight."

:o
I can picture De La Hoya now... :puncher: :furious: :furious2: :fyou:

Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
why isnt mayorgas plan to attack the LIVER all night then?????????????
-
Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
De La Hoya is going to have a hard fight on his hands facing a very determined Mayorga

I would also say the same goes for Mayorga. I know some boxers have plans to get inside their oppenents head's, but I really think antagonizing Oscar is a bad idea for Mayorga.

Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
Didn't Trinidad knock Mayorga down with a body shot

He's not going to be so funny when he has to unlodge his own head from his ass.
Oscar by total beatdown!
-
Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
yep, oscar is gonna win this....but i think oscar is gonna look less than great...
long lay off and age are gonna play their part...
delahoya really shouldnt want any part of PBF at this stage in the game...
-
Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
CC for the article, yeah I recall Trinidad either hurting Mayroga seriously OR knocking him down with a body shot. Mayorga is funny but why is he feeding more fuel to the raging inferno that will be De La Hoya? Why would you give someone ammo to whoop your ass? Did he disrespect Tito like this too? I'm still not sure,Oscar has been out from so long, and I DON'T want to see PBF-Oscar so I think I am rooting for Mayorga! :-\

Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
I totally agree with Mayorga - I've always maintained that DLH took a dive against Hopkins. If he had enough strength to thump the canvas while he was down, he had enough strength to get up. Something about that fight stinks...
And yes Mayorga did get put down hard by Tito's body shots - but Tito's left hook his harder than Hopkins' - and Mayorga got up each and every time. He is (or was??) tougher than DLH by a street.
I like Mayorga in this fight big time - provided Tito didn't take all the fight out of him with that beatdown.

yeah but Mayorga kept getting back up even though he was in agony, ODLH took the easy way out and stayed down :-X

Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
i wouldnt go calling de la hoya a chump though just because he got beat by the then best boxer in the world. i dunno if the KO was genuine, but i'd like to see some of you take a body shot from b hop and get up and 'fight like a man' .

Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
when mayorga has achieved what oscar has in pro boxing then he can talk the trash. He does talk ourt of his arse a lot
-
Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
oscar de la hoya is gonna beat this guy so badly.
mayorga wil end up in a body bag.

yeah buts thats his game, he's there to say outragous stuff and draw attention to the fight(which he does very well) it also helps that he's tough as nails and exciting to watch!

That's the thing with trash talkers like Mayorga. You get so caught up in it you forget that they was saying the same shit in the last fight before they got knocked out and beaten to a pulp!.
Like Mayorga v Trinidad for example

Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
wonder how he's gonna do after his "bad boy" image is put to rest on May 6th, Mayorga is going to get OWNED

im a huge dlh fan and i do think he will easily whip mayorga--its the perfect stylistic matchup from him---i think it will be similar to the yori boy campas fight but more exciting because mayorga will throw more punches and stand there and fight instead of spitting the bit after every combo like campas did----however the kayo v hop did leave a whiff of a bad smell for me too..........i agree with your point about him punching the mat...usually a body shot that devastating will almost paralyze you completely for a bit-----recent examples being RJJ v virgil hill and gatti v dorin

Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
Totally LawHoops - I honest to God believe that he took a dive.
Now I'm not saying for sure that it was a premeditated thing, but I feel for sure that he was looking for a place to lay down that night. He hadn't taken many shots to the body that night, so it wasn't like the cumulative effect of them wore him down - he got tagged once by a shot that didn't even look that hard and stayed down yet had enough strength to hit the mat in frustration.
Even the post fight interview when he felt he had to explain that 'a good body shot completely paralyses you'. Something about that fight is rotten.
-
Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
Then my question is why he would do that

Ive played rugby league before and ive been hammered right in the gut by some huge tackles. They hurt like hell but it doesnt limit your ability to move....it makes you not want to move. I know its not really a body shit but thats my experience. And i also did karate for nilly 10 yrs and have been punched and kicked in the stomach....ive never gone down from one but you dont really want to keep moving as it hurts more.

Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
Mayorga could be a fan favourite if he just knew how to tone it down a bit on the whole "Im going to send him to see his death mother" routine.. I mean come on.....
"Ive been sparring with live chickens because they emulate Oscar, they run like him"... THat is truly funny shit. really, that's almost enough to make me cheer for MAyorga momentarily lol.

he backed it up well against Lewis and Forrest, Tito was to big a step up 4 him especially at Middleweight, but i still fancy him against ODLH

Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
That was a nasty liver shot and it would have dropped anyone in that weight class. If Mayorga can sneak by Dela Hoya he needs to get in there with Hopkins. Lets see if he can take that kind of shot

What possible reason would Oscar have for taking a dive? Money? Like the $20 million he got for that fight wasn't enough to feed his family? Come on now.
-
Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
There is no way DLH took a dive against B-hop! I have seen several fighters get caught with that liver shot and everyone goes down and rolls around on the mat. Its not like they absolutely cant move, the pain is intense and keeps you from getting up. Gatti went down from a body shot from Ward in their first fight. He got back up, but how many shots did he take to the chin trying to protect that side of his body because he did not want to get hit there again. Some fighters can get up some cant. But I cant take anything away from any of them, everybody takes those shots differently.

Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
I used to question whether Oscar took a dive too but seriously, the guy has a heart of warrior deep down and I don't think his Mexican machismo would let him lye down for anyone!!!
-
Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
what Mexican Machismo? ODH is pure American in his thinking and life. That Mexican thing is just for suckers and to get fans.
Any idiot taking a close look at Oscar would see that he is all american, all californian, and all Los Angelean. The boy is purely Corporate, in speech, attitude, dress etc.
Barrera, Morales, and Vargas are more of the Mexican peasant ilk, because of the poverty they grew up in. This is why Mexicans genuinely love them.

True but I mean the Mexican in him that koed Vargas, the Mexican in him that stood toe to toe with Chavez, only Mexican machismo would allow him to do that! I agree though, most of him,is American. I guess he only appeals to Mexicans when he wants to. Anyone fill me in:how do Mexicans/south Americans see him?
-
Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
He is an American with a Mexican heritage. If you are born and raised in the US then you are an American with whatever your heritage or nationality is. Just like I am an American with a Mexican heritage. My personal feelings is that you really should not be able to claim you are (insert nationality) unless you were born and raised in that country.

Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
So you like Oscar and most Mexican Mexican's dont? I know the JCC fight won him alot of the Mexican fans....how do they see him now?

I like him but not really a huge fan. I think he has gotten too corporate, but good for him. It is nice seeing a boxer being able to do something besides smash in somebody else's face. From what I have read and heard most Americans with Mexican heritage have a harder time being accepted by the Mexican fans because they are not familar with or can not relate to Mexican Mexican's. For some reason there is a grudge against them for growing up in America. Personally, I can somewhat relate. I grew up with my Mexican mother and her parents. My mothers family were the only Mexicans that I grew up around. And they were plenty Americanized as I was growing up. If you were to see me, Mexican would not be the nationality you would think that I am. So I have always felt that I was not a part of that culture.

a dive is more pre -planned---i dont think dlh planned to take a dive but as the fight wore on and hop started to puish him and he realized he couldnt win i think he was looking for a way out--the body shot was a convenient and probably a better way to lie down--for some reason there is less emabrassment in getting kayoed with a body shot vs taking one on the button i think

Makes no sense at all. The man had NEVER been stopped before. Do you know how many champions there have been who can say they were never KO'd? Not that many. Only a handful. No f@#kin' way Oscar would lay down as opposed to sticking it out and losing a decision. That's utter nonsense.

Yes, exactly. Did you see the Picharillo fight? Mayorga looked pretty good, not great though. He did show a jab. I'm tellin ya folks, Mayorga will die to defend this title, he loves it, you see how happy he was when he won it? Oscar just wants to add it to his collection and thinks this will be an easy fight. That will be his fatal mistake.

Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
Barrera isn't a peasant. He's middle class University educated (was studying law in the early part of his carreer before giving up to focus on boxing). Some of the aggro between him and Morales was down to class. Morales if from the street and he and Barerra traded insults about class/education etc

I agree with this analysis. The pain was comin, Oscar was gettin winded a little, couldn't run anymore, and looked for a soft spot on the canvas.

Re: Mayorga On B-Hop - De La Hoya: "Everyone knows he took a dive in that fight"
What like Sonny Liston decided to -dive- once Ali hit him with that right hand ;)
Thing is, Mayorga says all these things, but after a fight win or lose he always shows respect to his opponents, even away from the crowds and in the hallways but only always AFTER the fight.
And I am very glad Mayorga hasn't said anything about Oscar's mother :-\
